  1. I had seen the injury mentioned in another article and it basically said that he would be ready to play on Friday with 3 righties scheduled for the Indians.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 08:19 AM) Soxtalk answer: You're both being sent to AAA. And fire the Dad
  3. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 07:44 AM) Of course not, but I think he'd be willing to waive the option to come across town. Otherwise, I don't make the deal. Gotcha. I guess it's possible, since he seems adamant about staying in Chicago, especially for his family. I don't know if the Sox have any prospects the Cubs would want anyway, but that's another discussion.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 03:16 AM) 3.) He has the last laugh. He has Chicago's only WS title since the dark ages and he's gonna be let go. That truly is laughable. I'm glad your name isn't Greg McCaskey or Ditka would still be roaming the sidelines at Soldier Field.
  5. Glad to see the Rooks beat Sarah & Katelynn, those two annoyed me, and the two youngsters bring some needed attitude to the show. LOL at Adam's attempt at love. Adam: I'm so in love with Jen and she slept in my bed Jen: I like have to get blackout drunk to even think about kissing Adam
  6. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 07:05 AM) Sometimes you just have to tip your cap to Bruce f***ing Chen. Take away his two starts vs the White Sox and he still somehow has an ERA of 3.77
  7. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 21, 2011 -> 07:16 AM) If we're throwing random ideas, why not the following moves: Quentin to Braves for Beachy Jackson to highest bidder for prospects, those prospects to Cubs for Ramirez Viciedo called up, Morel sent down Do you really want to pay Aramis Ramirez $16 million next season? No thanks.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 11:03 PM) So the Rangers are pretty freaking awesome right now. Jinx!
  9. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 04:37 PM) No adjustment, and you are exactly right. We have basically hit like a mid-market baseball club payroll with a major-market payroll. What percentage of that major market payroll was spent on hitting as compared to pitching? Always seemed like the Sox had more money invested in arms instead of bats.
  10. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 05:14 PM) It's was so hot that even Casey Anthony left the windows cracked when she left her niece in the car while shopping. Too soon? I don't get it? She was found not guilty....
  11. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 03:18 PM) Somebody named Duane Below starts for the Tigers tonight vs Brandon McCarthy. Go A's. I think his best friend on the team is Charlie Furbush.
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 03:20 PM) Save the fact that Adam Dunn has stated he doesn't pick up a baseball bat in the offseason. There's some merit there... I'd reckon picking up a baseball bat might assist in his not sucking so much. Not picking up a bat worked for the first 10 seasons of his career. That being said, I would like to see him change it up this offseason after this debacle.
  13. The Indians vaunted bullpen keeps the Twins season alive for a 2nd straight day
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 02:54 PM) Have Ohman and Bruney failed to perform? Hell, personally I think Ohman should be trade-bait here in a week or so. The Yankees could (quite seriously) use him. A lot. They just called up some lefty longman who has never pitched in the majors. Their only other lefty in the pen is Boone Logan. I would have to agree they could use Ohman.
  15. Pierre - LF Ramirez - DH Konerko - 1B Quentin - RF Pierzynski - C Rios - CF Vizquel - SS Beckham - 2B Morel - 3B f*** Bruce Chen!
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 02:31 PM) But then you're hurting Viciedo by, again, benching him (note the difference in my reaction to Santiago being benched and to Viciedo being benched). You can't let Ozzie screw with Viciedo again, you just can't. He needs to be playing everyday. yes, you don't want to screw Viciedo up, but you can't have such a good hitter sitting in AAA while your floundering offense in the majors. Call him up, tell your manager & your boss you think he needs to play everyday for this team to win. Hint that to the media too. If Ozzie still doesn't play him, then it's on him, and whats the difference anyway, one of you two will probably gone either way.
  17. I'll beat everyone else to it: Brandon Allen has homered in each of his last two games for ARI.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 02:24 PM) We saw last year what Ozzie did. He benched him. And maybe he will bench him and as the GM you can't control who the manager plays. But at least you are providing him with the best possible roster in your opinion, how he chooses to use it is on him.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) The biggest problem with blaming the GM is that the GM may simply have no power here. If he can't force the manager to play the kid, the manager refuses to play the kid...and the owner has decided that the GM can't remove the manager...then the GM is powerless. The manager can't play the kid if he's in AAA.
  20. QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 01:47 PM) Just never heard a GM defer a decision so often to the manager. And two of the largest issues in 2010/2011 were due to those decisions he seemed to defer. Even if they are Ozzie's decisions, I still blame the GM for letting the inmate run the asylum.
  21. Basically ESPN & the media have overrated him so much, that many people have underrated him as a result. He's definitely on the decline now, but he was a heck of a ballplayer for about a 15-year stretch. HOF lock.
  22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 20, 2011 -> 10:16 AM) The more I think about it, assuming Danks comes back healthy this week... put me on the Peavy-to-the-Bullpen bandwagon. He obviously is still struggling a bit with recovering strength and conditioning, but he needs to pitch to build that back up. The Sox have 6 starters and need anther strong reliever. Let Peavy work the rest of the year from the pen, and go back to starting only if necessary. Then he has the offseason to more fully recover and condition, and be ready to start in 2012. Heard this stat on the Score this morning, I thought it was pretty significant. These are the splits of hitters vs. Peavy in 2011 for how many pitches he had thrown. Pitches 1-25: .271/.306/.441 Pitches 26-50: .226/.269/.306 Pitches 51-75: .140/.227/.228 Pitches 76-100: .457/.469/.587 Pitches 101+: .231/.231/.231 (13 ABs) He totally appears to be hitting a wall, Javy Vazquez style and maybe he's just still not 100%. It could be a good idea to get him in the bullpen next year, and hope he can get back to 100% this offseason.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 02:15 PM) Didn't humans evolve pre-air conditioning in Subsaharan Africa? QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 03:17 PM) So when there are record high temperatures for about a week straight I should avoid trying to adhere to official warnings and attempt to replicate as many SubSarahan conditions as possible? Sounds like a great idea! I hear the infant death rates there are only mildly horrific. 82 degrees in my house? Sheesh.....what a total douche I'm being. I should be able to withstand triple digits easily. 1 point - Sqwert
  24. Pierre - LF Ramirez - SS Konerko - 1B Quentin - DH Rios - CF Lillibridge - RF Beckham - 2B Flowers - C Morel - 3B
  25. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 19, 2011 -> 02:49 PM) Yes, if the Red Sox or Yankees want a guy, why wouldn't they sign him for many more years than the White Sox. It's all paper money to those teams. 1. They aren't gonna want Buehrle for 6/7 years. 2. Buehrle is not gonna sign a contract that long, he has whispered about retiring now or in the next year or two. 3. Buehrle seems to only want to play for the Sox or STL
