  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 09:18 AM) Haven't we already seen 2 cases of pilots of smaller planes crashing those planes into buildings? I know there was a guy in Texas about 5 years ago and I'm vaguely remembering a different one involving a younger pilot. Neither of those planes had explosives or anything that would supplement the impact's force on the plane. Cory Lidle? That was an accident though.
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 12:12 PM) I thank the Lord everyday that goes by that I have yet to subject myself to anything Harry Potter. or Lord of the Rings for that matter
  3. Pierre - LF Ramirez - SS Konerko - 1B Dunn - DH Quentin - RF Rios - CF AJ - C Beckham - 2B Teahen - 3B
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) I'd assume they'd have to do a rehab start with how lonng he's been down? Didn't he throw a rehab start last weekend?
  5. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 12:29 PM) Exactly, I think they're just like the Sox in that way. In about the last ten years, they've both had one legitimate team and then another "meh" playoff team. The difference is that the Sox really took advantage. Well, the Bears have had 3 playoff teams in the past 6 years. Two NFC title games & a super bowl app in 5 years is still pretty good I'd say, "fluky" or not. Only two other NFC teams managed that, although they were smart enough to win their Super Bowl.
  6. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 11:38 AM) That was my favorite pick six of all time. No one asked for your opinion in this BEARS discussion.
  7. and the Hawks signed D-Man Sami Lepisto to a one-year deal. 26 yrs old, will be his 4th NHL team, Finnish. That's all I know
  8. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 11:21 AM) I guess what I said about them blowing their chance was wrong. That Colts team was very beatable, but the Bears choked every which way (Grossman dropping, was it, two snaps? Does that even happen twice to most quarterbacks in a SEASON?) And I believe anyone that truly expected them to beat the Packers in the last NFC Championship was fooling themselves. So the Bears deserve zero credit for making it to the NFC Championship game, but the Twins are dynastic by winning the AL Central and losing every playoff game? I see. And that Bears Super Bowl team deserves credit for making it that far despite their QB.
  9. Kind of tough to close a game when you walk the first 3 batters on 13 pitches
  10. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 09:52 AM) Over/under on number of hits off of Verlander has been set to 5. In his last 9 starts, he is averaging 5.1 hits allowed per start. With this offense slumping, I probably have to go under.
  11. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 09:59 AM) It's only a dynasty if you win your division every year and get blown out in the first round of the playoffs silly. #Winning
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 08:13 AM) Nobody would argue that the ASG for MLB isn't the best of the 4 major sports. Think of the last time you watched the entire game....all the way through, from beginning to end, for NBA/NHL/NFL. Tallest midget?
  13. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 03:32 PM) As my partner (a state attorney for like 15 years) told me after this verdict - jury's are incredibly unpredictable. You'll win 50% of the cases you're supposed to lose and you'll lose 50% of the cases you're supposed to win. Let me tell ya something Stone Pony. In any baseball season, there's 60 games that you are gonna win, 60 that you are gonna lose. It's what you do in those other 42 that matter, dabgummit.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 12:30 PM) The Mariners have a lot of higher-level guys who should wind up being big leaguers (even if not stellar ones) and some talented stuff below them that is a few years away. They're actually the kind of team the Sox ought to be dealing with here...a team that has guys who might be a couple years away from becoming top-flight rookies. Do you think they will be buyers though? I think they realize their offense isn't good enough, but those younger players could contribute in the next year or too.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 12:01 PM) How does a lame show like The Office, which jumped the shark forever ago, continue to get Emmy nominations? A show like Portlandia should have gotten the nomination instead. Glad to see Louie get nominated though. Same goes for Olyphant and Goggins for Justified. It's the Derek Jeter of the Emmys
  16. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 10:31 AM) Evelyn and Paula will probably win the girls whole thing since they are the only somewhat competent team. Paula could be a weak link in a final challenge though. Laurel & CaraMarie are probably the toughest athletic combination. Why does Paula keep doing everything the guys say? Kenny & Co. have screwed her over in nearly every competition, yet here she is listening to them again, even when she slightly has an upper hand with Ev.
  17. As a kid growing up watching Ozzie play, my #1 memory was of him swinging through strike 3 about chest/neck high. He could not lay off that high heat.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 09:01 AM) If we had anyone not named Chris Sale who was ready, sure. When that Ramirez guy in the bullpen is the next in line though, the cupboard is sorta bare. Good point. Maybe Dayan Viciedo can pitch too?
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 08:56 AM) Again, if we're rebuilding, who cares? Guess it doesn't matter, but if that replacement is a young pitcher, might as well let him pitch the whole season anyway?
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 01:12 PM) My boy David Lighty signed a 2 year contract in italy and has to stay at least one year. He is a prime example of a player that would have signed a training camp contract in the NBA and has instead take the cash in Europe. and your boy DMac signed a 1-year deal in Turkey
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 08:27 AM) If the Sox go cheap next year, Erik Bedard as a FA option wouldn't make me mad, esp. if Cooper is still here. I like Bedard too, but then we have to find someone to make the 10-15 starts he misses due to injury. With Peavy already in the rotation, that could lead to trouble.
