  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 12:45 PM) Where the hell are all these rumors? I googled it and found jack s***. Boers and Bernstein have their "guys" everywhere that know all the behind the scenes dirt and are never ever wrong, so it's gotta be true.
  2. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 11:29 AM) I mean, they did get embarrassed in 2008 as a regular season team that hardly deserved to make the postseason. That team had to keep pitchers pitching on 3 days rest just to make the playoffs and had to throw their mental midget #4 starter in game 1, which kinda threw it all off from the get go. I still wouldn't call that series an embarassment.
  3. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) I didn't say it did. I said that it's my opinion that they'd get embarrassed. Just like when they get embarrassed at Fenway
  4. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 10:27 AM) If the team was in 1st place by 10 games it wouldn't exist. If the team was in 1st place by 10 games, Pale Hose Talk would be dead silent.
  5. Special thanks goes out to Mike Quade for not pitch hitting Soto for Koye Hill with one out in the 8th. You have an absolute speedster at 3rd, a LF with the arm of an 8-year old boy, why wouldn't you pinch-hit your starting catcher with some power, instead of the backup who is the worst hitter on your team? f*** the lefty/righty matchup. Thanks Mike!
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:30 AM) This kind of hindsight always seems to go one way. There are just as many games we could look back and say we should have lost. How about last night for example, when the winning run happened because of a bases loaded HBP which started out of a two out, nobody no situation? Last night's winning rally would have been over if not for an error on DeWitt too. Or how about the game where they scored 4 on Soria with 2 outs? Or the 8th/9th inning comeback vs. LA where the winning run scored on a IBB wild pitch? Or the Yankees game where back-to-back circus catches by Lilli prevented walk-off hits?
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 08:16 AM) Seriously if the outage is small enough, they might not even know about it. Plus the squeaky wheel gets the grease. I hear ya, I did let them know Wed. morning, and I do occasionally call for updates. There are still 97,000 customers without power and by me it's multiple blocks, several busy streets and stoplights, so I think they are aware.
  8. Of the 90,000 people that will be at the Rose Bowl on Saturday, what will be the ratio of USA fans to Mexico fans? 20:80? 30:70?
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 08:44 AM) If they win one, they keep the Cup by virtue of winning it last year. I thought that if it finishes 3-3, the team that wins the final game gets the Cup?
  10. Prince's availability will also hurt Pujols potential market. Of the few open 1b options out there, I think a few teams would rather sign Prince for slightly less money, especially since he's 4 years younger and not coming off wrist surgery.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 07:51 AM) Call them. Repeatedly. Ha. I'm sure in the end that would only frustrate one person. Me.
  12. Still have no power from Tuesday's storm. Where you at ComEd?
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 02:51 PM) Yup. Especially 2008. I'm not gonna lie, I thought a WS birth was a foregone conclusion. They've gone backwards ever since and they're REALLY expensive and not so cuddly. Not to mention that cave of a ballpark is almost literally falling apart. No doubt, especially when they picked up Rich Harden and suddenly convinced Jim Edmonds that it was 1998, not 2008. Then they had to face the Dodgers, tied for 7th in wins in the NL.
  14. In honor of CT returning as a full-time contestant, let us relive one of the greatest moments in reality TV history.
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 10:35 AM) The Challenge : Rivals America! f*** Yeah!!!! My house still has no power and I'll be at the game tonight anyway, but just happy it's finally starting up again. Can't Wait!
  16. For some reason, I have always like Mariners hats with the S & the compass in the middle
  17. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 09:51 AM) Cubs suck, Sox suck, and it's a midweek night game. Attendance has been s***ty in both parks as it is and this has been going on since 1997, I think it's losing a bit of its luster overall
  18. I will be in attendance tonight. It's not like I have anything better to do at home until ComEd flips the switches back on.
  19. QUOTE (OilCan @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 09:33 PM) So, um....Madison Baumgartner v the Twins. And the Twinkies are.....well, the Twinkies. 8-0 Minny, TOP OF THE FIRST! That's a 216.00 ERA and 27.00 WHIP for those of you scoring at home
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 09:03 PM) Lousy weather. So who has worse me or y'all in Chicago? Weve got 57% of the county without power, no confirmed tornadoes today though. My whole neighborhood still has no power, there are trees down everywhere, and there is a loose electrical wire hanging over my backyard. I think the hot tub is off limits until that gets fixed. I was driving home on the Kennedy during the brunt of the storm it was nasty. Sheets of rain and 60 MPH winds, probably should have pulled over, but where's the fun in that?
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 02:46 PM) Cubs lineup against LHP is pretty dangerous with Babe Johnson and Mickey Baker Both in the lineup today, watch out! Johnson, cf Castro, ss Baker, dh Ramirez, 3b Soto, c Soriano,lf Pena, 1b Montanez, rf LeMahieu, 2b Garza, p
  22. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 02:19 PM) Do you not remember the obsession with the grinder rules in 2005? It was pretty big. Yeah, and the grinder rules were the primary reason the Sox won the WS!
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) Honestly the obsession with "All in" is scary. It is an advertising campaign for gods sake. Does everyone expect to see the Miller Lite Guards if you pick up a case of bud light with your strawberry body wash too? Let it go people. But I believe everything the TV tells me....
  24. QUOTE (SouthsideNorthsideFan @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 01:55 PM) Is he that well established??! At most he's having a nice first full year, yet ppl are treating like him like he's Albert Pujols (or Aramis when he was on 'roids ). This is downright hilarious. 2nd and 3rd, two out, three run lead, and the sox are relegated to pitching around Starlin Castro. LOL! If this continues, fine, whatever, then Castro's "for real." But to this point he's just been a good player. Jeez, I'm not comparing Castro to Pujols or Bautista. I'm comparing him to the guy in the on-deck circle due up next. You have a base open and you are facing your opponent's hottest hitter, while the player due up next is their coldest hitter (who has no business hitting 3rd in any ML lineup). I'm gonna take my chances with DeWitt and let Castro have 1st base. There were runners on 2nd & 3rd, I wasn't worried about a homer, just a simple hard-hit single to score 2 runs, and that's what happen. It may have ONLY been the 3rd inning, but it cut the lead down to 1 and gave the Cubs momentum that they didn't have.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 11:25 AM) Here you go... http://www.southsidesox.com/2011/6/21/2234...ays-until-dayan If they wait for the deadline, it would make me wonder if they know the real definiton of "All In"
