  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 9, 2011 -> 03:00 PM) Yes, because at his age, it would take him suddenly becoming a 40+ HR a year player for a decade, which would put him as one of the best players in baseball for several years. See, considered the hypothetical. Well played.
  2. QUOTE (scenario @ May 9, 2011 -> 02:55 PM) Or who ends up with more career homeruns... Konerko or Dunn? Dunn only has 16 less homers and is 4 years younger. As long he finally breaks out of this slump, he should easily finish with more.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 9, 2011 -> 02:39 PM) "Debate topic: if unlikely event x happens, do you think correlated event y will happen or not?" "X won't happen so I'm going to remind everyone that it's unlikely." If Brent Lillibridge hits 500 career home runs, do you think he will make the HOF?
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 9, 2011 -> 01:14 PM) Stop stealing from Tosh! Busted!
  5. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 9, 2011 -> 12:26 PM) Yes we won 1 championship in the last 90 years or so but we also have been a one and out in every other post season appearance. True, but the Sox have only been swept once, not 3 straight times. I was also referring to the storming back in the 2nd half and the winning the division title as what Minnesota does, not the Sox.
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 9, 2011 -> 12:15 PM) If we're lucky we might be able to roar back and claim the division with 87 wins and get swept in the 1st round. Think you have the Sox confused with Minnesota
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 9, 2011 -> 11:53 AM) If there was ever a player I would feel comfortable betting a lot of money that never used steriods, PK would be him. Frank Thomas
  8. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 9, 2011 -> 09:38 AM) HOF or not, he will definitely get a statue at the park some day. and his number & picture on the LF wall
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 9, 2011 -> 09:31 AM) Was he ever a top 5 vote getter for MVP? 5th last year. 6th in 2005.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 8, 2011 -> 07:26 PM) On a side note, I've often wondered why these MF terrorists have yet to attack a US sports stadium. I know there was a movie about some stadium getting hit, so the idea has to be out there.
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ May 8, 2011 -> 04:22 PM) And we miss Weaver and Haren in Anaheim. and we miss Anderson & Gio in Oakland
  12. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 9, 2011 -> 07:34 AM) Does anyone know our record in Oakland since 2001? 12-33 since 2001. They actually won the series there in 08 & 09, but before that they were 6-27, ouch. 2010: 2-4 2009: 2-1 2008: 2-1 2007: 2-4 2006: 0-3 2005: 2-4 2004: 1-5 2003: 1-2 2002: 0-6 2001: 0-3
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 8, 2011 -> 07:04 PM) Of course four of those were singles with one double, because he's Paul Konerko. I see what you did there....
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 9, 2011 -> 02:54 AM) Great, another Indians' top pitching prospect is on the way!!!! I'm sure all 10,000 people at Progressive Field will be excited!
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 8, 2011 -> 12:43 PM) Wouldn't have negated it but that's another at bat for a guy who's already thrown 120+ pitches and another baserunner to deal with. True, but watching the Sox that day, I doubt they manage a hit anyway. It would have been a walk or a popout.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 8, 2011 -> 12:00 PM) So what, that's 2 bad call no-hitters in a week? What call should have negated Liriano's no-hitter? I know Beckham was safe at first, but that would have been a fielders choice anyway, so it didn't change anything. I don't remember any other bad calls.
  17. QUOTE (knightni @ May 8, 2011 -> 11:31 AM) I heard that Beckham wanted to sign it, but he couldn't keep his eye on the ball. So did Juan, but he kept dropping it
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2011 -> 09:07 PM) Last year, the 2 teams in the W.S. were #10 and #28 in salary. I think it's time to realize that there's more than just salary. Very true, but having a higher payroll gives you an advantage over other teams, so your expectations should be higher.
  19. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ May 8, 2011 -> 12:56 AM) In that case, does Floyd's game count? Nope, but its still a much needed W for the Sox.
  20. I know several people have seen the season already, but Friday Night Lights is still incredible. They keep bringing in new storylines that are so dramatic, but yet still realistic. Such a good show.
  21. Tomorrow we go for the series win...remember what thats like???
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ May 7, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) 7 shutout innings tonight. He faced a AAA lineup in the biggest pitchers park in the majors, today doesn't count.
