  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2011 -> 10:45 PM) I noted that earlier. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2011 -> 10:46 PM) After today's showing, Brent clearly needs benched as punishment Sorry, but I'm late to the party in both instances. I did see that Morel had an RBI hit, so hopefully he can keep it going.
  2. Nashville's not done yet....Win game 6 at home and anything can happen in game 7
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2011 -> 10:41 PM) Predict the lineup for tomorrow. I'm going with Lillibridge LF Ramirez SS Dunn DH Konerko 1B Quentin RF Rios CF Castro C Beckahm 2B Morel 3B Put Teahen in for Morel and a few spots higher and I like that lineup.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2011 -> 10:16 PM) Ah this Dan Cortes was the guy we sent as player 2 to KC in the Mmac deal No, Dan Cortes was the guy who hosted MTV Sports
  5. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ May 7, 2011 -> 03:09 PM) That's a pretty easy question to answer fathom......it's because Dusty Baker is an idiot. Always has been, always will be. Not to give Dusty credit, but its pretty standard around all of baseball. Almost all managers refuse to take a closer out no matter what, especially a guy as established as Cordero.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 7, 2011 -> 06:21 PM) That's all fine, except we can't beat the teams in our own division either. Haven't been able to for some time now. Ug. It's all so depressing having to be a negative fan all the time. I wish there was some light at the end of the tunnel. At least while we've sucked, the Hawks (last year) and Bulls (this year) are amazing. Tough to be greedy and want to win two title per year in Chicago. Speaking for fans on both sides of the city, when there is no salary cap in your sport, and your team is regularly in the top 10 in money spent and ticket cost, I think it's OK to be a little greedy.
  7. Before we went to Arlington today, my wife called her 3-year old niece and she said she picked Animal Kingdom to win. My wife put $2 across the board, paid out $76. Good times, people watching at the track was amazing.
  8. QUOTE (since56 @ May 7, 2011 -> 08:21 AM) It's getting to the "fun bad" point. Tuesday night was the definition of fun bad
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 7, 2011 -> 08:37 AM) I agree with pretty much all of this. Personally, I just think it's a new era. The Celtics' Big 3, Tim Duncan, Kobe, Nash are all older and have seen their best days. And you've got this incredible new wave that's come in the last few years. Out with the old, in with the new. Kind of like MLB. Unfortunately, the Sox never received that memo.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 6, 2011 -> 09:38 PM) lol@the Paul sarcasm. Dude put up a line of 22 PPG, 11.5 APG, 6.7 RPG, 1.8 SPG, 54.6 fg%, 47.4 3pt% on the Lakers with NBDL talent around him. That series had no business going 6 games and did so only because of Paul's brilliance. Paul is great. Let it go. What is it about Paul that brings out the insecurities in people? Tell an Illini fan that Paul is better than Deron, and he will rip your freaking head off. Question: Why is no one worried about the Mavericks? People were scared of the Lakers, and the Mavs might sweep them. Why does no one seem to think the Bulls would have a problem with them?
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2011 -> 07:54 AM) If you noticed, Thornton was down in the zone in the 9th inning with a lot of his pitches. He was clearly gassed, as he was able to stay up in the zone with a few more mph in the 8th inning. It's comical that he was left in that long. Oh, and Ozzie, why not use Crain instead of Santos then? I didn't watch the game, but as soon as I saw the box score and it said 1.2 IP, I said why the f*** was Thornton in there so long? It's not extra innings, no one else had pitched, I assumed he was tiring out, and I guess I was right. I'm sure the team will use the excuse that they faced an ace, but your #5 starter went to toe-to-toe with him, thats the type of game you need to pull out, not that it matters anymore.
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 6, 2011 -> 03:14 PM) Regardless of records, he's a 6 inning pitcher at best. His pitch count is seemingly always around 90 or so after 5 innings. Last year he averaged 6.2 innings per start. 17 of his 32 starts he went 7 innings or more. Just out of curiosity, how much more would he have to pitch to not be considered a 6 inning pitcher at best?
  13. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 6, 2011 -> 03:19 PM) He's a White Sox prospect. So, no. Until he gets traded
  14. it must have taken a lot of research to figure that one out Heyman
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 6, 2011 -> 11:26 AM) I'm sure the 14 actual Hawks fans will be all over you. If the Hawks were to somehow pull off the upset, the Eastern Finals would probably have the worst home fan support ever in a series.
  16. When the season started, one of the biggest concerns was the 5th starter spot with Humber & Peavy's injury. If you would have known that Humber would have a 3.06 ERA and the Sox would be 3-4 in his starts, you would have been estatic about the team's chances.
  17. What's up with the congressmen, especially Chambliss, that are releasing information from these supposedly "classified" meetings?
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 6, 2011 -> 08:25 AM) Please don't tell me you think Humber really is better than any of our other starters... LOL, I'm just making the statistical observation that crappy old "doesn't belong on a ML roster" Phil Humber has put up the best ERA in the Sox rotation after one month of the season.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2011 -> 08:03 AM) Yes, and the fact that all of our starters are better than theirs with the exception of Humber (probably) tells you that there's something seriously wrong with our team chemistry/morale/attitude/mental make-up. Humber has the lowest ERA of the entire Sox rotation
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 6, 2011 -> 07:43 AM) How many callups happen for teams that don't affect pennant races for each one that does. A handful at best, while the large majority wind up takign a few years. Those callups are usually made by teams that aren't contending too. The Giants had a playoff ready pitching staff and just needed that one bat to help get those extra few wins to win the division.
  21. QUOTE (Brian @ May 5, 2011 -> 06:55 PM) Kick him out of the league. The guy is an idiot and most of the time the media glorifies his behavior as cute and harmless. His act is old. But he won the NBA's 2010-11 J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award?
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2011 -> 10:39 PM) Ryan Sweeney finished 5 for 6, his first career five hit game. I laughed...
