  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2011 -> 06:29 AM) http://www.kansascity.com/2011/05/05/28530...mes-hosmer.html The stakes on this road trip just got even more complicated. The Royals are launching a warning shot across the bow of the rest of the AL Central. It was one thing when we only had to worry about the Twins. This season, we'd have to jump FOUR teams that now all have a legitimate foundation for ending up as the division winner. We said the Indians aren't real, and maybe they're not, but the Royals have a LOT more talent than the 2003 team that had a 6 1/2 game lead for first place at the ASB. If any of their pitching phenoms can complement Hosmer and Moustakas, watch out. Soon. If Mike Montgomery and Duffy can make it (two lefties for their rotation already dominating in AAA), they're a legit contender. Odorizzi from the Greinke/Brewers deal is also dealing in High A. You do realize that their rotation is Hochevar, Francis, Chen, Davies, & O'Sullivan? No offense can support that. I know that young prospects are so popular now, but let's wait until they do something in the majors before we crown KC 2013 & 2014 World Series Champions.
  2. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ May 5, 2011 -> 04:24 PM) I know you guys will be upset about this one. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writ....cbs/index.html Maybe the Sox should hire him to replace Hawk?
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 5, 2011 -> 03:26 PM) Would the Rays trade Longoria? Would the Rockies trade Tulo? Would the Marlins or Dodgers trade Johnson or Kershaw? That's what I meant. I'm giving love to Castro and hating on our pathetic roster at the same time. I do get your point. It would be nice to have one player on the roster whose future you are looking forward to. Beckham doesn't even fit that description anymore. Ugh.
  4. Turns out Fat Elvis is alive and well
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 5, 2011 -> 02:13 PM) Nothing short of injury will stop him from being a star. I look at skillset moreso than I do raw numbers. I'd trade anybody on our team for Castro. Considering his age, I think most teams in the league would trade anybody on their team for him.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2011 -> 01:12 PM) I do still believe the team would recover if left alone, but I don't think the ownership group is going to give them the time to play it out. Do you think they can recover enough to make the playoffs? Because if they can't, then there's not much of a reason to let it play out.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 5, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) That threw me off, too. They're exactly two elite short stops in baseball. Hanley and Tulo. And Castro looks like he'll be in that category soon. How pathetic is that? The fricken Cubs develop talent internally better than we do. I don't think there was much developing to do with Castro. I think he's naturally talented, even the Pirates couldn't screw him up.
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 5, 2011 -> 11:56 AM) http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qi...05011112AAj6uFX Classic. Love the last line: "Anyone know a link or number to sign her up? Trust me it will be worth watching lol."
  9. QUOTE (Fantl916 @ May 5, 2011 -> 11:51 AM) Peavy, Addison Reed, another young arm and Alexei for Reyes with the caveat we sign him to an extension... The Mets WOULD do this as Alexei is a cheap replacement with immediate credentials and would bring the most sure return amongst any prospect package they could possibly get. Peavy could be another rotation piece for a staff that is sorely lacking and the money might be worth the short term risk. Alexei turns 30 this year and is nearly two years older than Reyes. I wouldn't call him a "prospect". When he's 32 & 33, they would owe him $9.5 mil & then $10 mil. That's not a "cheap" replacement.
  10. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ May 5, 2011 -> 11:26 AM) Seattle series is the alliteration series. Humber vs. Hernandez Floyd vs. Fister Buehrle vs. Bedard What are the chances?! It stands for How Freaking Bad are both of these offenses!
  11. Bobby Jenks to the DL with a 9.35 ERA, 2.54 WHIP.
  12. QUOTE (oldsox @ May 5, 2011 -> 11:03 AM) No, but 6-8 years ago he was most likely a better hitter than he is now. He was a better hitter at 26 than he is at 32? Really? But he still hit 38 homers with .892 OPS last year.
  13. QUOTE (oldsox @ May 5, 2011 -> 10:46 AM) Uh, talented? I don't think so. This is not a talented team. They prove it almost every day. And Hawk is being Hawk when he tries to convince his audience that they are indeed talented. They were overrated from the beginning. I don't think they are in a slump; they are playing to their level of skill. Talent is not defined by your paycheck. That said, I am interested in the exact quote, if anyone else caught it. So Adam Dunn's 8 straight seasons of 38+ HRs was all luck, no skill?
  14. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 5, 2011 -> 10:25 AM) That's why i'm saying release more than one. Throw in a picture of the burial preparation. I have to imagine they took a gazillion pictures documenting what they did. Plus, he's 6'4". He's not exactly a typical looking Saudi. I don't think they should release the burial preparation stuff. Muslims seem to be very strict with the guidelines for that kind of stuff and you don't want get them in a uproar about something they see.
  15. QUOTE (Tuna @ May 5, 2011 -> 10:06 AM) If that's the case then why did they release pictures of other people they killed in the compound? -sorry if this was asked already, I didn't read 52 pages of this thread. warning-graphic Are you sure the US released those? I thought those were pictures taken by Pakistanis in the area or their military/police.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2011 -> 09:47 AM) The Twins have pulled the plug on Casilla as the everyday SS and were THIS close to pulling Liriano and Blackburn from the starting rotation before we faced them. When Nishioka comes back, he will be playing SS with Cuddyer at 2B. They've also removed Nathan as the closer. I'm sure you'll see 2-3 of their middle relievers (Hughes, Hoey and Burnett) sent down or released as well. The only thing we've changed is Thornton for Santos. We can't even bite the bullet on Pena. And Thornton was still brought in during the 9th inning in New York, so he still hasn't 100% lost the job. I usually say give it time, but when it's this bad, something needs to change, and yet nothing has. Even with Pierre leading off and stealing bases. I don't mind being agressive on the basepaths, but when he is under 50%, stop f***ing running so much.
  17. QUOTE (oldsox @ May 5, 2011 -> 09:42 AM) ....Something like This is the most talented team to ever play this badly this long? I think he's losing it; tough to be a homer 24/7 with this bunch. He might be right. How many teams even play this badly this long?
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2011 -> 08:21 AM) I put this on facebook, but it is worth sharing here too. Hint #1 that Cinco De Mayo is just an excuse to drink... It commemorates Mexico beating the French in a battle.. Really, celebrating beating the French? That is kind of like celebrating shutting down the White Sox offense right now. Wikipedia has all the proof you need:
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 5, 2011 -> 07:49 AM) Which is why I laugh at anyone who tries to say that George W Bush pulled off 9/11. Laugh away at Rashard Mendenhall
  20. -Time to sell your house Bruce Boudreau. I doubt they keep him around, although this year's result was way less surprising than last year. -I am totally rooting for Nashville, but the only way they win is if Rinne outdoes what Halak did in last years playoffs. -I wouldn't be upset if the Sharks won it all, I'm just worried it will bring out all the dumb, ignorant fans complaining that Niemi was the key, the Hawks would have won the Cup again if they had just kept him. I've already heard enough complaining about Byfuglien.
  21. QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 4, 2011 -> 12:21 PM) nashville is incredibly outclassed by the Canucks. I disagree. Nashville has more class in their little fingers than Torres or Bieksa do. I know what you mean. It's amazing how a stud goalie and a tight defense can keep you in a series against a way more talented team.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 4, 2011 -> 02:50 PM) I don't think you can say that anymore about the Twins after they came and left town with us left in their dust (yet again). Have you been watching? Right now they still look like the 2nd worst team in baseball. The White Sox are just sucking that much worse.
  23. Wow, that story is incredible. Glad to hear he survived it all
  24. The funny thing is that the Twins still suck really badly. It's just the Sox are actually worse.
