  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 02:10 PM) What are the chances that Austin falls to the Bears? On ESPN, Kiper has the Bears picking Austin, while McShay has him going #39 to TEN. SI's Don Banks has him #36 to DEN. So I guess, it's unlikely but possible?
  2. Speaking of the Indians rotation, their 2009 1st round pick Alex White is set to start on Saturday. So far in AAA, he has a 1.90 ERA with 28K in 23.2 IP. Had a 2.25 ERA in 17 AA starts last year.
  3. I've caught one foul ball in my life. It was against the Indians a few years ago, sitting the 300 level. High pop just came straight at me and caught it on the fly. One game in 2005, I was sitting the 2nd row behind the Sox dugout. Early in the game, Rowand tosses me the ball as he heads in the dugout. Of course, Butterfingers McGee drops the soft toss and someone else gets the ball. My friends were just ripping on me the whole time for the drop. Luckily, later in the night, Konerko tosses another one to me, and there was no way I was letting that one drop!
  4. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 12:39 PM) I don't know how anyone watches it. BORING. I concur. I even kept watching the Sox game with Tony Pena pitching instead of watching the draft. Following the draft on Twitter last night was awesome though, get all the updates you need without watching all the BS.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 10:54 AM) I still can't see the Hawks paying that much money for him to play somewhere else. I agree. It's not like the Huet situation where he was just a bad player you had no use for. Campbell is still pretty good and the team definitely misses him when he's been out with an injury.
  6. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 11:16 AM) WTF?? Everything I read said the Ravens called the office, but the Bears didn't. Why is it so hard for the true story to come out? If Newsome is adamant that no deal was consummated because he didn't t call Bussert, then hell no I don't give 'em that 4th rounder. Very interesting. But clearly, the Bears' front office once again proves how moronic they are. Luckily, it appears that they made the first pick in round one. That quote is from 2003 when the Ravens agreed to a trade with the Vikings but never called in.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 10:23 AM) A caller on the radio pointed out that the Ravens were the team to cause the Vikings to miss two picks a few years back. F*ck the Ravens. Yup, and here's a quote from the Ravens GM after it: "The deal was not consummated," general manager Ozzie Newsome said at Baltimore's headquarters. "A deal is not a deal until I talk to Joel Bussert, and I never talked to Joel Bussert."
  8. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 09:15 AM) Also, the hats. Why? http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/woman...ests-style.html It's like the Kentucky Derby. The richer you are, the bigger and uglier your hat gets.
  9. My wife was Facebook friends with someone that passed away in the past year. Her page was still up and yesterday was her birthday. Most people that posted said stuff like "We miss you so much on your b-day today", "You will always be in our hearts" or whatever. But there were still people that posted wishes saying "Happy Birthday! Hope you have a great day!" Are you really oblivious to the fact that the person is dead? Do you just post that stuff without even glancing at the person's page or is there some kind of automated program that posts b-day messages? It's very creepy.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 08:26 AM) I know they could collapse at any moment...but we've seen Talbot, Masterson, and Carmona all show flashes in the past. That's the talent to be a consistent top 3. I get what you are saying, but I don't see all those guys pitching well enough to match the other teams. Plus, the back of their rotation is pretty weak. Carrasco going on the DL doesn't help. I could see Masterson keep this up. Carmona reminds me of EJax in that he's consistently inconsistent with his control. Talbot is injured and I don't know if he showed that much in his only full season in the majors.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 08:15 AM) Right now, their starters have the #5 ERA in the AL, while every other team in the Central is at the bottom of the league. It's still only April, if they keep it up for another month or two, I might change my mind. Adam Dunn is slugging .279 on the season, which is lower than Chone Figgins, Juan Pierre, & Cliff Pennington. That doesn't mean they are better power hitters.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 29, 2011 -> 08:02 AM) Right now they might have the best pitching in the division. I like their bullpen, but their rotation is no better than 3rd or 4th best in the division.
  13. The Bears front office continues to impress. They had agreed to send BAL a 4th round pick to move up 3 spots and even told Carimi they would pick him there. But no one on the Bears side told the NFL in time, so the trade never became official and that's why BAL "passed" on their pick. The Bears lucked out that Carimi was still there, but now the Ravens are pissed and still want some compensation for the trade they agreed on that never happened.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 11:13 PM) I don't know. I like the Indians a lot better than the Royals, who play hard, but unfortunately for this city, have no starting pitching. KC fans are hoping home will cure what ails the Royals. It definitley was a rotten road trip for the boys in Blue. and the Indians have loads of starting pitching?
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 10:51 PM) I'll never be that cocky in the playoffs. We had a hell of a time against Indiana. I think we match up well with Atlanta, but you got to play the games. It's the NBA, not the NHL. Atlanta will be lucky to make it to game 6.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 10:26 PM) Is that who he wanted them to take? Oh, and if the Lions find a way to get Bowers, that would be comical. I was referring to the Jewish thing. He keeps tweeting about the "Bear Jew".
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 10:22 PM) Welcome to the Jewish Hammer! Dan Bernstein could not be more excited!
  18. I guess I'm just not impressed by Ingram, but I guess the Saints can use a between the tackles back. Heard a stat today that only 3 of the top 20 running backs last year were 1st round picks, so think you can wait on them. Look what undrafted Pierre Thomas did for them.
  19. I have no idea if Carimi will be good, but it was 100% the right pick. Bears need O-lineman, he was the best available OL and of the top players left, hope hes around for the next 10 years.
  20. Questionable move by NO. Running backs are a dime a dozen nowadays, Ingram is nothing special IMO and already took a lot of wear and tear in college.
  21. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 10:06 PM) Bears tried to trade up...confused. supposedly to get Gabe Carimi in front of KC. who took a WR
