  1. Posnanski gives us more reasons:
  2. 1st back-to-back hits for Sox since 1st inning on Monday
  3. Even the Padres awful offense has scored 3 runs this week, and that's in cold, cold weather
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 06:29 PM) This isn't Don Davis is it? That stiff from the NL who recently signed? How can we not score? LOL, that's Doug Davis. This is Wade Davis, 3rd round pick of Tampa in 2004
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 06:22 PM) Remember when Tampa came to Chi winless and some were worried about law of averages having them win a game. Tamps sure isn't worried about law of averages regarding the Sox ending the losing streak as they kick our ass every night before such intimidating crowds in Florida. This isn't even like a real road trip with no fans in the stands and we still are getting b****slaped. Will we ever lead in a game again? If so, when? May 3 when the Twins come to town, cause their offense is even worse
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 05:05 PM) Need to move JP and Becks out of the 1-2 and we are cooking. Who would you prefer batting 1-2?
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 02:48 PM) 4 of 8 starters under .200, and their leadoff man with an OPS below .400. The offenses in the NL are worse than ever. Duston Moseley has 4 starts and 25.2 IP and the Padres have yet to score a run while he's in the game. In fact, the run they got in the 9th off Marmol is the first run they scored in any entire game he has appeared in.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 03:22 PM) Before anyone askes, Gardenhire checks in at 88.8. What's his playoff winning percentage?
  9. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 03:02 PM) I did know that the Russians had a pact early on in the war with the Germans and that they basically only joined the Allies because the Germans eventually attacked them, but I guess I figured that his grandfather was captured towards the end of the war. I'm not sure exactly when it was, but I know he is in the POW camp for several years, so I assume it was towards the earlier parts.
  10. John Grabow is not gonna let Will Ohman take the "Worst left hander in Chicago" title without a fight
  11. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 02:32 PM) If he was in the Polish army, why was he captured by the Russians? What Balta said. The Soviets may have helped take down the Nazis, but they weren't exactly model citizens during the war. That's part of how their communist reign was able to take over so much of Eastern Europe.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 02:01 PM) Please stop. Just wait til the Sox sign Brandon Wood!
  13. The Padres lineup is just atrocious
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 01:42 PM) Teahen's D hasn't cost us a game yet as far as I can see, and its another righty on the mound. and hasn't Morel's D cost us a game? I remember an error that led to runs in one of the close games vs. Anaheim
  15. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 01:12 PM) While we can mock Canucks (or other) fans all we want, and we should...the whole "this series is about USA vs Canada" is so meatball I can't even stand it. I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure before game 3 when Honda was announcing please rise for the Canadian anthem, people were booing. I've also been at games and heard "canada sucks" and "usa, usa, usa" chants from some idiots. Show some respect. More than that, the majority of players on the Hawks (and every team) are CANADIAN. Note, I'm not saying anyone implied that in this thread, I've just seen it and heard it around. It always made me laugh too. Of the 25 main Hawks on the team, 15 are Canadian, 6 are from Europe, and 4 are American. USA USA USA!!!
  16. pierre lf, beckham 2b, quentin rf, PK 1b, Dunn dh, Rios cf, AJ c, Ramirez ss, Teahen 3b, humber p
  17. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 12:39 PM) I blame Canada Kill Terrance and Phillip
  18. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 11:51 AM) I feel like I just got called on my ALL IN and I am holding bottom pair right now... Don't worry, he's bluffing
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 11:41 AM) At least they won't be playing the first couple games... I just booked a flight to New Orleans for Week 2. Luckily, the wife and I are totally content with a vacation down there if the game doesn't happen.
  20. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 01:05 PM) Just got back from Auschwitz (we're currently visiting Krakow), what an intense place to see. Also, I had no idea that there were 3 different Auschwitz camps, very interesting to see the difference between the two remaining. I went there when I was like 13, pretty bone chilling stuff, especially at that age. My grandpa was in the Polish army and luckily was captured by the Russians instead, so he survived, but basically all the females in his family died at Auschwitz.
  21. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 11:15 PM) Brandon Wood has been DFA'd. End of an era. A horrible, sad era. Of course that's assuming the former #3 prospect in all of baseball doesn't clear waivers which I wouldn't count on. I hope for his sake that he's claimed or traded, an outright release would be pretty brutal. Maybe Coop can fix him?
  22. Now that was fun last night! Davey Bolland in the house! Like others have said, I refuse to even think about a possible comeback unless they win game 5, which will be tough. If they can pull that out, get it back to a game 6 in Chicago, then I'll start entertaining the thought. Yesterday's butt kicking doesn't erase what the Canucks did in the 1st 3 games. How about the Kings? Go up 4-0 at home & chase Niemi, then blow it and lose 6-5 in OT. Ouch.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 04:35 PM) No, based on payroll. The Sox's attendance is in the lower part of the league but they have some of the higher ticket prices in the league. Pretty sure I saw a stat on opening day, that the Sox ticket prices were 4th highest in baseball behind NYY, BOS, & the Cubs.
  24. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 02:43 PM) Maybe I'm mistaken, but haven't all the tickets on Stubhub already been purchased by someone and are just on there for re-sale? On those tickets the team already got their money whether anybody sits in the seats or not. You are correct. But that's a huge marketplace that the baseball team has to compete with. Monday 05/02 is half-price Monday, cheapest tickets from the Sox are $12 each, but you can get better tix for $7.00 on Stubhub.
  25. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 02:53 PM) I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he announced his retirement this year. I would. Unless his agent is Gil Meche, I'd really doubt he'd give up the $21 million he'd be due in 2012 & with his buyout.
