  1. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Oct 16, 2009 -> 07:19 PM) I'm for the yankees in this. Does that make me a bad person? Yes, indeed.
  2. My boy Morales with the first RBI. He has at least one RBI in all postseason games.
  3. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Oct 15, 2009 -> 01:40 PM) I've seen video of him and he looks like a reliever at this point to me too. That's not to say he can't become a true ace, but it would be very hard to commit the same kind of money that you normally give to veteran All-Stars to a guy that you'll want to send down to the minors for a couple years. If this kind of deal were realistic, I'd offer something like: $5M signing bonus Year 1: $1M pro-rated while in the minors/$2M pro-rated if in the Majors Year 2: $1M pro-rated while in the minors/$2M pro-rated if in the Majors Year 3: $3M team option, $1M buyout Year 4: $5M team option, $1.5M buyout Year 5: $7M team option, $2M buyout Year 6: $10M team option, $3M buyout Year 7+: arbitration eligible if applicable service time is reached, otherwise the player becomes a free agent That way the player is guaranteed at least $7M (mostly up front) and up to $33M, but the team never has to worry about a bad contract that it won't be able to overcome. If anything like that were possible I'd be willing to offer it, but that won't happen. The Yankees or Red Sox will give him a s***load guaranteed because that's how they operate. The Yankees, Red Sox, Angels and Mets will compete for his services. The quality of starting pitchers is not that deep this year. By the way, 19 year old Jose Iglesias has impressed in his first two games in Arizona among MLB players, best USA prospects and Japanese big leaguers and prospects from the far east. He just homered today. The value of Cuban players is increasing by the day. Adeiny Hechevarria, another 19 year old SS defected too. Iglesias had to play 2B for the junior team because Hechevarria was the regular. I smell a future Yankee to replace Jeter whenever he slows down if he ever does. I think the Sox will go after 1B/LF Jose Julio Ruiz or CF/1B Leslie Anderson.
  4. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 14, 2009 -> 11:51 PM) I've heard reports that some scouts consider Chapman to be a glorified relief pitcher who has a poor attitude and poor work ethic. Oh, the scouts. Tell me their names and the teams they work for. Are these scouts the same scouts projected Alexei having Julio Lugo type power numbers? Moises Alou, when he was the manager of the Giants, said El Duque is nobody to go crazy about. El Duque was running out of fingers for his WS rings. Too bad he waited that long to come. If you compare a photo of Chapman before defecting and a recent photo, you have to realize he has been in the gym quite often. Unlike Viciedo who in Cuba was rumored to be lazy and also did not have a strong defense, Chapman works hard. He was working to improve his control like crazy back home. Only time will tell.
  5. Contreras got $32 million from the Yanks. He was older than Chapman.
  6. Unlike Strasburg who was penalized in the Draft because he could negotiate with only the Nats, Chapman can negotiate with all MLB teams. The big market teams will escalate the bidding war. I think there should be one system for all players. Either we have a Draft or Free Agency for everybody.
  7. He does not mention a team or teams offering that amount. I am writing about the new wave of Cuban defectors in case you want to read about them. The White Sox may land somebody from this group. http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/2009/...or-chapman.html
  8. Can I listen or watch these games on the Web?
  9. Venezuela Josh Kroeger- Leones de Caracas (Lions). Caracas is the capital of Venezuela. Clevelan Santeliz and Freddy Garcia - Navegantes del Magallanes (Sailors or Mariners) Jon Link, Johny Celis, Eduardo Escobar and Joucer Martinez- Tiburones de la Guaira (Sharks)

  11. What a political disaster for Mr. Obama!
  12. I hope the Windy City gets it. I will be visiting you guys with my family for sure. I will rooting silently for Cuba because my kids will be rooting for USA. I always want it to attend an Olympic game.
  13. When is his contract due? After trading Brandon Allen, who is the leading candidate to take over 1B once Korneko is not longer with the team? I know Viciedo may be a possibility. Anybody else? Thanks,
  14. I wrote something you may find interesting about Cuban baseball. http://cubanballplayers.blogspot.com/2009/...9-ibaf-bwc.html
  15. I opened a Thread about this game in here. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=74662 We will get you on Sunday if we beat Canada. Ha, ha, ha. Two double plays killed the Cubans specially the one in the seventh with the bases loaded. I was happy to see that Lucas guy leaving the game.
  16. USA beat Cuba. It was a very good game. Cuba had their chances late in the game but failed to capitalize. The USA hitters are fast ball hitters. Pedroso struck out 7 or 8 in relief. The second USA pitcher pitched very well. Cuba has to beat Canada tomorrow to earn the right to play the USA for the gold on Sunday. Did anybody see the game?
  17. http://www.ibaf.org/index.php?id=9 Cuba will KO the USA tomorrow. Just kidding! USA is the HR leader with 31. Cuba is second with 21. Cuba is number one in pitching. The Netherlands is number one in BA. USA is second. That was b4 today's games. Cuban starter should be LHP Maikel Folch from the Ciego de Avila Tigers. Folch 90-92 MPH with slider and curve ball. First reliever should be Habana Cowboys Yadier Pedroso. Pedroso can top 94 and has an assortment of pitches including forkball. He needs to cut down on the number of pitches he throws. It is good you see them. We should beat Canada and advance to the championship game where we will have Santiago de Cuba Wasps veteran RHP Norge Vera and Pinar del Rio Green Sox Pedro Lazo ready for you.
  18. I can not even type fast enough. The tittle should be USA not UBA. Anyways, you can follow the action here: http://hosting3.sportingpulse.com/www.2009...index.php?id=10
  19. USA assured themselves in this Sunday tittle game. No one in the USA group can catch the Americans. Cuba vs Australia Cuba and the Netherlands have one lost in their pool. Puerto Rico lost against Canada and now has two losses. The Canadiens allowed one hit (Jose Valentin). Puerto Rico had beaten Cuba 5x2 in the second round. Cuba KO P.R. in the first round, but victories count only from the second round. The netherlands beat P.R. and Cuba beat the Netherlands. Now, Cuba is first in his group but can not loose any games vs Canada, USA and Taipei today to have a date with against the USA Sunday.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 08:18 PM) Maybe he's getting a bit worn down from the season? No idea how long a Cuban season is. 90 games. Then, the playoffs.
  21. You got to love those scouts. Alexei has Julio Lugo power. Chapman middle inning reliever. El Duque is nobody to go crazy about. And so on.
  22. He was in the same Cuban junior team with Viciedo. They are both from Villa Clara. I would not be surprise to see him in the USA sometime in the future.
  23. USA lost against Venezuela in the first round. The losses in the first round did not count. USA is 4 and 0. Cuba, Puerto Rico and The Netherlands are 3 and 1. Australia may be 3 and 1 too. Teams from one group will play the teams fron another group. The two teams with the most victories will play a final game. Wins from the second round count. Round three is about to begin. The USA team has players from the minors. I think they can have players outside the 40 man roster. Pedro Alvarez may be in the 40 man roster though. I do not have time to check now.
