  1. Jose is bound to fall off a cliff at anytime. The lack of power this year is a bit alarming. It's just a thing with aging 1B. Paulie was actually really productive for half of 2012. Then all of a sudden he can't hit in 2013. You don't want to be left holding the bag when you give Jose a 2 year $30 million deal out of loyalty.
  2. First of all, I'm hoping Hahn gets the boot and they put a new FO in that doesn't suck ass at signing veteran free agents. Also, I'm assuming Tony is gonna be gone as manager. Please do a real managerial search. Cairo has obviously shown that he has more energy than a corpse, but some of the in-game decisions were just as bad, if not worse, than Tony (see: Tuesday's bullpen decisions). My Offseason Moves: Offer Jose Abreu a 1 year $10 million deal. Is it a bit insulting? Maybe, but if he agrees to it, that's a near market value deal for what he is projected to produce. First basemen after the age of 35 typically fall off a cliff in terms of production. If Jose doesn't take the deal, go with plan A and try to sign Brandon Nimmo for 4 years and $70 million. I feel like that's in the ballpark the Sox are comfortable with. I'm not sure if that's gonna be enough though, as the OF market outside of Judge is fairly thin this year. If we miss out on Nimmo or Jose takes the 1 year deal, try signing Gallo or Comforto to a short term deal to improve their value. Something like 1 year $10-12 million but with a team option attached. If we swing and miss on all of those, there's always Tyler Naquin and David Peralta to go after for real cheap. Like a 1 year $5 million type deal. Sign one of Cueto, Manaea, Wacha, Gibson, Clevinger as 5th starter for 1 year and $8 million. My preference here is probably Manaea, although his stuff has deteriorated big time this year as the season has gone on. Cueto would make a great 5th starter if he continues to pitch like he has this year, but he's going to be 37 next year and his stuff his been very suspect recently. So who knows where he's really headed. Re-sign Elvis Andrus to a 1 year $5 million deal with a team option ($1 million buyout) for 2024 to play 2B. Andrus won't hit like he has so far with the Sox over the course of a whole season, but he's a smart player and actually does the little things well. Something you need on a winning team and something this team lacks quite a lot of. I'm also not convinced the options the Sox have in-house (Romy, Sosa, Yolbert) aren't gonna be a roulette wheel of strikeouts. Colas will probably come up in late April, early May to replace whoever gets injured in the OF. OD roster: 1. SS Anderson 2. RF Nimmo (L) 3. CF Robert 4. DH Jimenez 5. 1B Vaughn 6. 3B Moncada (S) 7. LF Pollock 8. C Garandal (S) 9. 2B Andrus BN - Sheets (L) BN - Garcia (S) BN - Zavala BN - Payton (L) SP1 - Cease SP2 - Lynn SP3 - Giolito SP4 - Kopech SP5 - Manaea (L) LR Foster MR Lambert MR Kelly MR Diekman (L) MR Lopez SU Bummer (L) SU Graveman CP Hendriks Total payroll: $195 million
  3. The Twins are about to get swept by the Royals.
  4. Imagine being such an idiot that your sports agent drops you.
  5. Graveman hasn't been that much worse than he was last year. He is what he is. A decent 7th inning guy. But the Sox paid him like he is a premier setup man. We've gotta deal with him for another 2 years too.
  6. Yeah I'd rather take Hahn than Moore. But I also don't think Hahn should keep his job. Avila and Moore both got the boot after disappointing seasons, but I think the Sox were far more disappointing than either of those teams when you compare the results to the pre-season expectations.
  7. Yeah MLB.tv basically won't accept any Nord connection anymore unless you set it to Sweden. At least that's what's worked for me recently. Be careful though if you keep doing this and then keep accessing MLB.com without a VPN they can flag your account and ban you since it's not physically possible to be in Sweden in one hour and then in the US the hour after.
  8. I'd say Clase is the best closer in the league and even he has blown 4 saves this year although the blown save stat isn't the best way to evaluate closers. Clase has probably been twice the pitcher Liam has this year.
  9. He's blown 4 saves all year. He's been shaky at times probably because he hasn't had the stuff he's had in past years but I don't think you can put the blame on him for the bullpen not performing. Kelly's been awful, Bummer has been injured for most of the year, Graveman's been mediocre ever since May. Diekman walks everyone. Those are the other 4 guys being paid a lot of money to perform and they're not even close to earning their money.
  10. The Sox thought they discovered a market inefficiency by overpaying relievers. It's actually hilarious.
  11. Stop this is how Rick Hahn and co are gonna justify running it back next year.
  12. If it wasn't for Liam and Lopez this bullpen would be absolute s%*#.
  13. Yoan paid a lot of money to get out of Cuba. The entire thing was super shady and he had to get married to a sports agent too. It's all super weird and who knows how much money he really got from his initial signing with Boston. The extension he got with the Sox was probably his only big payday so far and even then you wonder how much of that money he's actually seeing.
  14. I know some on this board think that we can fill 2B with a combo of Romy/Yolbert/Sosa next year but if this team is serious about competing in 2023 they need to think about bringing Andrus back to play 2B. He's a breath of fresh air compared to other the brain dead players we have on this team. He probably won't hit this well next year, but if you can get him on a short term Harrison-esque deal next year you do it.
  15. Seriously. Keep TA out for the rest of the year too.
  16. Graveman too. Liam was probably the only guy from the bullpen that looked like he wanted to be there.
  17. The bullpen management this game was just brutal.
  18. Uh...why? Are you afraid his arm is gonna get destroyed with how many sliders he's throwing?
  19. Shaw is trash and had Diekman just allowed 2 runs we'd be in business.
  20. He's so worried about his hand when swinging that he swings at pretty much everything. Not only is it bad for his overall health it's also bad for his development as a hitter.
  21. He swung at 2 balls in 3 ball counts. I'm not sure what happened to his eye and plate discipline.
  22. Now all those extra runs Diekman gave up hurt.
  23. I guess I just freed up a bunch of time for the next month. Too bad Call of Duty won't be out until late October.
  24. He sure as hell wasn't gonna hit that here.
  25. You just have to hope he bounces back and maybe starts taking his career trajectory a bit more seriously. Cause at this rate he's gonna be out of the league in 2 years. He's also gonna cost himself at least $25 million.
