  1. I've gotten hit right on the elbow before and it was only in the mid 70s. I can't imagine the pain from a 102 MPH fastball.
  2. Unless Jose gets hit here, he's gonna swing at crap out of the zone. You can tell he's anxious up there.
  3. How does anyone hit Bautista? He throws 102 with a nasty splitter around the zone.
  4. We fucked around all game and now Bautista is in. Good luck.
  5. They left him in there for 4 batters when I could have told you he wasn't healthy enough to pitch after the first batter.
  6. I'd honestly rather watch that lineup hit than the White Sox one.
  7. His platoon splits are extremely drastic. He's prime Barry Bonds against lefties and Leury Garcia against righties.
  8. Moreno got the memo in Anaheim. Maddon really blasted the way the Angels run things behind the scenes. I feel like the Sox are in a similar situation. Where the organization isn't being run like a modern team and we're seeing the results of that on the field.
  9. Look at what the Astros have done by supplementing their core with young talent. That's how they've maintained their success past just the initial core. They added one of the best left handed bats in baseball in 2019 with Yordan Alvarez. They lost Springer after 2020, no problem, Kyle Tucker replaced him with ease. They lost Carlos Correa this year and his replacement, Pena, has been just as productive as Correa this year. The Astros are running similar payrolls the Sox are. Yet they're a way better team because they continually get contributions from their farm system and they spend their money way more wisely in free agency. Michael Brantley has given them more value than just about every Rick Hahn free agency signing.
  10. It'd be pretty hard to split a 3 game series, but I'm sure Tony will try.
  11. The guy everybody else on the forum wanted, Escobar, isn't actually doing any better than Harrison. And he's making twice the amount with another guaranteed year on his contract. Brad Miller, another guy some on this forum wanted (myself included), has been worth -1.2 WAR this year. And he has another year on his contract. The problem isn't that Harrison is actually a bad player, he's a flawed player who the Sox are relying on way too much. He's being paid like a utility player and he's producing at exactly that level. It's Hahn's fault that we're relying on him to be the everyday 2nd baseman when he's really not that type of player anymore. The previous FA class also sucked terribly for second baseman. Pretty much everyone in the class has sucked. Even Semien, the best of the class, has been decidedly mediocre this year and his OPS actually isn't that much higher than Harrison's. The Kimbrel trade was a disaster, but would Nick Madrigal be putting up a .750 OPS with us after his hamstring injury? Cause he's having trouble cracking .600 with the Cubs. All in all, if you look at all of the options the Sox had, they all suck. And Harrison is somehow one of the best options and we're only paying him $5.5 million.
  12. With a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs, Harrison is hitting .154/.333/.154 in 18 PAs. He's stuck out 1/3 of the time in those situations. That's coming from a guy who only strikes out about 15% of the time in his career. What's even worse is that against the 4 seam fastball, he's striking out about 44% of the time. And he sees that pitch about 43% of the time in those situations (compared to 36% overall). There's clearly an easy playbook on how to get Harrison out on strikes when you really need it. And pitchers are executing it pretty well.
  13. The Sox couldn't even play .600 ball against some of the worst teams in baseball during a 19 game stretch.
  14. And then the team miraculously stays in the race somehow. But they don't ever do enough to take control of the division or go on any prolonged runs that make you think they're good. This season really has been the equivalent of baseball hell.
  15. IIRC, he started doing similar stuff last year during this time. It may just be the fatigue from the season. They're called the dog days for a reason. Also, is it just me or does Vaughn look bigger around the waist compared to last year? His sprint speed is about 14% slower compared to last year.
  16. The sad part is that we probably win this game if Kopech doesn't give up 4 base runners to start the game. This one is on the coaching staff.
  17. 2 terrible relievers making elite reliever money combined. Just LOL.
  18. The Royals have pretty much ruined the Sox season. All the games we've lost to them recently have been winnable. That's a 4 game swing. Would we all be feeling like shit about this team if it was 66-56? I don't think so.
