  1. So if we win every series and maybe sweep one in the next 16, we'll be good?
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 10:06 PM) Does UZR even apply to catchers? Nope. They use Plus/Minus to evaluate catcher defense at this point.
  3. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 09:56 PM) I have a very bad feeling were gonna get screwed for the future with this easy stretch in the schedule.. Like what happened in late August last year?
  4. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 07:31 PM) Because I should be consistent...... OF Gerardo Parra. Oh great, another guy who can't get on base.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 11:25 AM) I'm not sure how much plate discipline you learn putting up a 1.250 OPS in the minors because you've already proven you can hit big league pitching. He's never put up an OPS above .900 in the minors though... Mostly due to his low OBP.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 10:56 AM) And if you want to genuinely develop a guy, he needs to get to that point and learn to adjust himself. Or go back to the minors and learn some plate discipline.
  7. Can somebody finally kick Carlos Silva's ass? Please tell me Q will be starting today.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 01:51 AM) Your new manager will be Buddy Bell or Cora. Big deal. Keep Ozzie. Sports are fun. Ozzie is fun. Ozzie also likes hitting Mark Kotsay 5th and mismanages the bullpen every other game.
  9. He said on 6 times in a row, lmao. Anyways, I don't think Colvin should be playing everyday, he should be platooning. The guy's not real good against left handed pitching. And to me, he still lacks plate discipline. He chases 38% of balls outside the zone. Once he becomes more and more exposed, he will struggle and the league will adjust.
  10. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 06:22 PM) I don't. Both teams pulled out draws against better teams. Forlan is extremely dangerous up front. I think Uruguay advances from the group. I second this notion.
  11. Well, the pitching's been real good the last three games. That's where it starts.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 03:54 PM) That a boy Carlos! After all this, I still love you and wish my wife would let me name our unborn son Quentin. Just point to Quentin Tarantino and she might just say yes.
  13. Quentin's going to end up hitting his home runs. The concern will be how bad his average will be...
  14. And Peavy says, "Cubs fans, go f*** yourselves".
  15. A.J. Pierzynski is still the Cubs fan's worst nightmare.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 03:37 PM) How long do you keep Peavy in? I'd go with Thornton to start the 7th to be honest. After his last outing? I don't know... It doesn't appear that Matt is entirely healthy.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 03:27 PM) Fangraphs thinks he's been worth 3 wins above a replacement...assuming he was replaced by an average player. Compared to Mark Kotsay though, who'd probably be playing there, I'd guess that's like a 6-8 game difference. That's 3 wins plus the replacement level at this point. And yeah, with Kotsay being there instead, I'd say we can easily be 5 games worse.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) You know damn well Oz would have been crucified for not pitching around AJ. A.J. Pierzynski has been a P.O.S. hitter this year, the last thing you want to do is put him on base for free and waste pitches while doing it.
  19. The lower part of our order was already a black hole, now you add a pitcher to it and it's the most dangerous rally killer alive...
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 03:08 PM) The immortal Lou Piniella pitches to AJ and he whacks it off the wall. Oz would have been crucified for the same decision. Beautiful hit AJ. Way to make 'em pay. Why would you walk A.J. in the 5th inning...? 1) He's hitting .230 something 2) It's the 5th inning
