  1. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 06:36 PM) That's what I thought, but his curve is more of a slurve than Jenks' was when he first came up. He has two curves, the power curve, which is what Bobby throws, and a 12-6. He also has a slurve too.
  2. QUOTE (Cali @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 06:03 PM) Why isn't it just called an M? Haha I don't know...beats me. His delivery reminds me a lot of Shaun Marcum's.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 06:25 PM) I disagree. I think he is a complete Kerry Wood clone. From that hard breaker to his fastball. And I think he'll have arm troubles just like Kerry did as well. His mechanics are slightly better than Wood's. Kerry threw across his body, Strasburg is more over the top. Both do have an inverted W in their delivery though.
  4. This guy's like 2005 Bobby Jenks, but a starter... Just struck out Milledge on two great curveballs.
  5. Strasburg just hit 99. Having trouble throwing strikes though.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 12:06 PM) I can't find the article any more, but Verducci did the math a couple years ago and found that the average change in ERA for switching leagues was about a run, and that it was distributed, such that some guys saw larger declines and others didn't. In general though, saying that the difference upon switching leagues is about 1 run in ERA isn't a bad guess. So a mediocre AL pitcher (4.50 ERA) can become a #1 or #2 in the NL (3.50 ERA)? I think a half run is a better estimation.
  7. QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 11:46 AM) I really dont understand why you trade AJ ... the guy, despite a sub-par season, is a baseball rarity, a good-hitting catcher (despite swinging at the first pitch constantly), a good gamer, and a veteran that Flowers could ultimately learn from ... he certainly competitive and we don't get anything for him in return. Don't know but having him finish his career with us and anchor that position (or mentor) seems to be worth an inexpensive extension. Even for a catcher, A.J. is not that good of a hitter. His lack of patience makes him a mediocre hitter at best.
  8. With the oil spill and all, I don't think the BP cup is in very high demand, lol.
  9. Listening to his new Eminem album. First half was pretty crappy, but the second half has been very, very good. Definitely this best since Eminem Show.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 09:23 AM) Project Prospect has a ton of details on Sale, and concludes that they're more worried about his mechanics than impressed by his numbers. They think long term he winds up a closer. That inverted W doesn't look good... He doesn't have very good mechanics.
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 8, 2010 -> 01:15 AM) Really? Can you name 3 pitchers over the last 5 years who went from the NL to the AL and their numbers got better? That's not my argument. My argument was that you can't just go from one league to another and become infinitely better or infinitely worse. There will be gains and losses, but it shouldn't be anything extremely drastic, like 2 runs on your ERA.
  12. It's amazing how much Keith Law hates this organization.
  13. This guy's almost like the left handed Jake Peavy with that arm slot of his.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 06:36 PM) Kotsay does a really good job over at 1B. So did Erstad. But Erstad was also a beast in the OF. Kotsay, not so much now.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2010 -> 12:18 PM) More like Darin Erstad This. But at least Erstad played good D...
  16. Some people take the AL vs. NL comparisons way too far. Yes, the AL is better, like NorthSide has said, but not infinitely better where a good NL pitcher will become absolute crap every time he comes to the AL and vice versa.
  17. Technically, it's not over until we're 8 games down to the Twins with 7 games to go. But it's been over for at least a week or two now. This team sucks and would be lucky to see .500.
  18. Ryan Braun? lol I'm pretty sure he's no good.
