  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 03:15 PM) Only if you make the world series. Which happens to be the most important series of the season...
  2. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 02:31 PM) Curtis Granderson has been hurt. Brett Gardner... really?? And who the hell is Julio Borbon? He's hitting .236. He was pretty good in a short stint with them last year though. I think the Rangers are making the fans stuff the ballot boxes, to the point where they get a prize for stuffing it a lot. Kind of like what the Brewers have been doing. How do you think Rickie Weeks is in the top 5 in 2B voting? I think the Phillies might be doing something similar. That kind of stuff really pisses me off, since this game actually counts for something.
  3. QUOTE (Real @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 02:31 PM) Sox players are never really mentioned or, hell, noticed nationally. Even when Q was going apes*** in 2008... rarely heard a blurb about him until he fought his bat and the bat won. This isn't surprising, but it is unfortunate I think Q would have started had he been on the damn ballot. I had to write him in that year.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 31, 2010 -> 11:19 PM) That's just unfair saying he's only been "lucky." Totally unfair. Check some of his lines in the games he's pitched. I guess anytime the NL beats an AL team it's just "luck." Let's see it on the field, White Sox. Beat the s*** out of this inferior league. Sox/Cubs series is deadlocked all time I believe. This year's AL-NL is deadlocked. It's only luck when Garland wins and only bad luck when we lose to an NL team. This has nothing to do with NL/AL matchups. This is just saying that Jon Garland is due for a sharp, sharp regression sometime soon and that what he's put up thus far has been quite the fluke (ie luck). Plus, do you know any other starting pitchers with a ERA in the low 2s with a 1.33 WHIP? I don't.
  5. I'll just let the pictures talk for themselves. The best hitting outfielder (or best outfielder in general) in the AL isn't even in the top 15 in voting. Uh huh...
  6. QUOTE (Benchwarmerjim @ Jun 1, 2010 -> 10:43 AM) yeah, he was signed as a SS, playing there and 2B before being moved to 3B, then to RF. I was just shocked he was actually playing there. I figured Casilla would be there, but I guess he has bone ships in his elbow and is now on the DL. Hudsons wrist is not broken so he is going to play Wednesday or Thursday Why didn't Gardenhire just put Punto at 2B and make Cuddyer play 3B?
  7. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 31, 2010 -> 10:40 PM) Said it before.. very very underrated player. The only problem this year is that he's been pretty mediocre so far on the offensive side of the ball. He was beast last year though.
  8. QUOTE (Benchwarmerjim @ May 31, 2010 -> 09:55 PM) Michael Cuddyer is playing 2B tonight for the Twins He was once a SS, but yeah, he sucks everywhere on defense.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 31, 2010 -> 12:46 AM) I think Garland is 7-2 with a 2.10 ERA and 1.33 whip Ha. Yeah I know, he pitches in the NL. So what. He's still pitching well. Congrats Jon. He's been lucky. His FIP and xFIP are in the mid 4s. That won't last forever.
  10. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 30, 2010 -> 09:59 PM) I guess the leg kicks are similar, but then again a lot of pithers have similar leg kicks. Other than that, there isn't much similarity. Verlander is a lot more under control while Scherzer is more herky-jerky and throws from a lower 3/4's. Also, I can't tell for sure, but it looks to me Scherzer might be throwing across his body (which is not good for pitchers who throw hard, see Kerry Wood). Actually, if anything, Scherzer is a lot more similar to Kerry Wood mechanics wise. The leg kicks do look similar. They do have different release points, but when they both go back and wind their arm back, they look strikingly similar.
  11. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 30, 2010 -> 06:56 PM) Today, Nix finally backed up my talk. We'll see if he can sustain this for any prolonged period of time. I don't think you're the only one to have backed him on this board though...
  12. Is it just me, or does Scherzer's delivery look a lot like Verlander's? Verlander: Scherzer today: http://mlb.mlb.com/video/play.jsp?content_...ame_pk%3D264559
  13. QUOTE (T R U @ May 30, 2010 -> 04:07 PM) I don't understand how anyone can like Kobe Bryant.. dude is a rapist and a jackass, ill scream if he wins another title.. There's two real jackasses on the other team. Therefore, I must root for LA.
  14. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 30, 2010 -> 04:08 PM) Rios and Pierre, minus Juan's arm, are such a nice change of pace to watch play OF defense. If only Jones can field for Quentin.
  15. Split with baseball's best. And if it wasn't for the horrible defense last night, we might have taken this series. I'm more than satisfied with a split though.
  16. We have so many options that could close. Why stick to Jenks?
  17. QUOTE (T R U @ May 30, 2010 -> 03:37 PM) Pierre is gonna win a Gold Glove Like it matters...
  18. Juan Pierre has made some great catches today.
  19. For a second, I thought Omar hit a home run since I'm watching this on Gameday.
  20. Nice, we are pretty much out of closing options. Sigh... This has been a poorly managed game.
  21. QUOTE (T R U @ May 30, 2010 -> 03:21 PM) so not only did Pierre catch that ball, he caught it after it hit off the fans glove.. Does that count? I don't know...
  22. So if Thornton is pitching the 7th, who has the 8th and 9th?
  23. That definitely wasn't necessary. And Peavy didn't need to the two extra earned runs charged to him.
