  1. So assuming Thornton gets the job done here and retires Crawford. I would think about keeping him in there for Jaso, Longoria, Pena, and Blalock.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ May 28, 2010 -> 07:00 PM) Nix is playing himself out of the organization. Batting .150 with no power and terrible defense. I was a big fan of his, but he looks to have taken a few steps back from where he was last season. Lack of playing time might do that for you...
  3. Letter high strikes haven't been around for a long ass time and there's a good reason for that. It totally screws left handed hitters.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 27, 2010 -> 03:14 PM) Bah, that's a classic case of showing up the ump over a call. I think a lot of umpires would have tossed him for that. Very few would have called the balk. No balk = no toss.
  5. John Ely is the real f***ing deal so far. Nothing in his peripherals says he's been extremely lucky or anything. And then I take a look at Juan Pierre and his .312 OBP. Kenny...WTF?
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ May 27, 2010 -> 02:52 PM) Ted Lilly has magically had that happen so often in his Cubs career. I'd love to see a breakdown on his percentage of home starts with wind blowing in/out. That would take a long time to figure out. The thing with Lilly is that he's a fly ball pitcher in a small ass park. He shouldn't be having success, but he has... You don't get lucky three years in a row very often.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 27, 2010 -> 11:34 AM) Charlotte pretty much did just that. Yeah and Charlotte wasn't a very good franchise before this year.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 27, 2010 -> 11:25 AM) The reason Jordan isn't around is because he wanted someone to give him a team to run. The Bulls wisely weren't going to do that. Who would? Unless the team is going down the trash, nobody's willing to hand anything over.
  9. Split would be alright with me, although 3/4 would really be what this team needs. It sucks that Buehrle's not going in this series.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 27, 2010 -> 10:58 AM) His numbers in RF are excellent, but as a CF, fangraphs counts him as average. You still can't ignore the combined UZR of +24 over the past two years though. Regardless of where it's at. Plus, he'd fit in real well in LF for this team right now.
  11. QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 26, 2010 -> 10:39 PM) And suddenly this series got very interesting again. Pressure is ALL is on Boston for Game 6. And they've got a lot of injury problems right now, Rondo's clearly playing hurt, Davis had a bad concussion, and Wallace looked pretty tight with his back before he fouled out. If Rondo can't get back to 100% I actually think we've got a real good opportunity to win games 6 and 7. I feel sorry for Perkins though, those 2 technicals were absolite BS, but as a Magic fan safe to say I was pretty happy to see him go. I would love for Boston teams to lose two playoff series after being up 3-0.
  12. Ryan Sweeney is the white Franklin Gutierrez. That's why I don't care if he's an average hitter.
  13. Just heard on the Score that D-Wade says the Bulls aren't loyal and that loyalty is important to him because he's a loyal person. He uses Pippen and Jordan not being around the organization as an excuse. Really Dwyane? Really? Maybe M.J. could have been a little more loyal and not have retired at age 34 and then come back three years later to another team. Maybe you shouldn't call yourself loyal because you're obviously not the cleanest guy around when it comes to marriage.
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 26, 2010 -> 04:47 PM) Understatement of the year? Bobby's '09 was by no measure "decent." That is unless you want to compare him to the likes of Kevin Gregg. 3.71 ERA, 1.28 whip for a closer is not good. That's not even getting into the 1.52 HR/9. Other than save percentage, which is becoming a pretty overrated stat to evaluate closers, there isn't anything in Bobby's standard or advanced statistics that points to any kinda turn around. Bobby did have a 3.63 xFIP. But I guess that hasn't been the case so far this season.
  15. Anybody else notice A.J. shoving Mark away with one arm? Thought it was kind of funny.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 26, 2010 -> 04:19 PM) @ Wiki Seriously though, I can never stand Joe West behind the plate, since he called the triple play against the Cubs a few years ago an interference. To sum it up; Mariotti just defended Ozzie on ATH. Paulie, AJ, and Coop all appealed it even, and those guys rarely argue with umps. And the smug look West had on his face...Hawk's right, he deserves a suspension.
  17. QUOTE (docsox24 @ May 26, 2010 -> 02:31 PM) and southpaw is a girl One of my friends says that Southpaw is a girl...
  18. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ May 26, 2010 -> 01:44 PM) Stop blaming Ozzie. He got tossed a long time ago. You really don't think that he has some decision in something like this?
  19. I partially blame Ozzie for putting Jenks in in a game where it wasn't even a save situation. Our bullpen is depleted enough and you go and use the closer in a 4 run game? *Sigh...
  20. Why the hell does Jhonny Peralta always seem to kick our ass?
  21. With a 4 run lead, I say you put Santos in here and see what happens.
