  1. I think I just saw Carlos shaking hands with kids. That's DANGEROUS.
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 4, 2010 -> 06:33 PM) Is that really true? Boston fans are fairly intelligent as far as baseball fans go...they have to realize how terrible he's been...they really would be upset if the team let Ortiz walk? Everybody's calling for his head, that's what I thought. And I don't think Boston fans are all that smart, although considering how much of a fanbase they have, it's not as bad as Cubs fans.
  3. QUOTE (smalls2598 @ May 4, 2010 -> 02:49 PM) Just saw this on Deadspin; it's an excerpt from the book Are We Winning? about the Bartman incident. Thought some of you Cub haters would like to relive that moment.. Deadspin Link That was really good. It made me feel really bad for Bartman and really contrasted him well with the average Wrigley Field fan.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 4, 2010 -> 03:13 PM) My god. That home run he hit in the Series didn't give you a thrill of a lifetime? I'm glad I'm not a fan who forgets the great moments certain Sox players have provided. I think the fans who did the correct thing and cheered him last night would agree with me. You think Pods should only be popular by association for us winning the title? Are you serious? I was half kidding. Podsednik might be one of the most overrated Sox players of all time by a lot of casual Sox fans (especially women, we all know why). But seriously, we shouldn't be salivating over a guy who hasn't produced over 2 WAR since 2003. I mean come on, we all know Pierre sucks right now (doesn't mean he will for the whole year though), but to keep reminding everybody how great Podsednik is/was is getting old. He was a decent contributor that year and he was part of the reason for the team's large success in the first half. But besides that season and 2009, what has he done for this team? That's what I'd like to ask. If you see all of this when talking about Podsednik, what will people do when Konerko leaves this team this off-season?
  5. QUOTE (Scwible @ May 4, 2010 -> 01:47 PM) Pierre dh Beckham 2b Jones lf Konerko 1b Rios cf Pierzynski c Quentin rf Teahen 3b Ramirez ss Floyd p Now this is the lineup I like to see, minus Pierre at DH.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 3, 2010 -> 11:18 PM) I think that fans who go to the games are more insane than many message board crazies. Of course they will cheer for somebody who was just a mediocre player that had a tool and a half. Some Sox fans went a whole lifetime without a WS title. He was on the team that won one. Of course he should be popular by association. fixed
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ May 4, 2010 -> 11:01 AM) LMAO. You know, his hair actually makes him fit into that picture.
  8. The scary part about Konerko's numbers right now is that his BABIP is only .185. Hitting a ton of home runs will do that, but even if those stop, you can expect his average and OBP to at least hold up.
  9. At the time he signed, it was not an overpay, right now, it's a slight overpay. But depending on what he does this year, it might not be if he continues to produce like he has. He's already been worth 1.3 WAR so far, more than his entire season in 2008.
  10. I say 17-11, 15-10 the rest of the way. They'll be a game over come June.
  11. QUOTE (Cali @ May 3, 2010 -> 10:50 PM) RALLY BIEBER!! When Justin Bieber grows up, he might look like Gordon Beckham.
  12. So I didn't realize all this Justin Bieber crap was all about. Then I see that Justin Bieber threw out the first pitch. I am very saddened by this.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 3, 2010 -> 09:31 PM) Chris Young now with 24 RBI's, good BA, 4 homers, roughly an 850 OPS. Not going to last. He's currently sporting a .330 BABIP (about 50 points higher than projections and career numbers).
  14. It looks like Peavy has worked out his mechanical kinks. Let's hope he has fixed it forever.
  15. I like how Alexei takes his lead hand off the bat on check swings. That actually seems like a great idea.
  16. QUOTE (beckham15 @ May 3, 2010 -> 09:09 PM) kotsay = this yrs dwayne wise but without "THE CATCH" At least Wise hit .200. But you gotta give Kotsay credit for that catch he made against the Yankees yesterday, lol.
  17. Ozzie didn't need to let Peavy throw this inning. And he doesn't need Thornton to pitch in a 5-0 game either. Sigh...
  18. Callaspo finally fielded a hard hit ball.
