  1. You have any idea how much face the organization would lose if we send Beckham back down? No way in hell is that happening.
  2. Everybody sucked in the leadoff role because Ozzie put the wrong players there. I think Ozzie did it on purpose, lol.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 2, 2010 -> 04:21 PM) Do the Sox sometimes overvalue guys who do well against the Sox? Wasn't Teahen a Sox killer? Did that get KW and Oz salivating? He's nothing too special IMO. Maybe. After all, it takes away the damage he does against you. I bet Buehrle's happy he no longer has to face Teahen. But at the same time, he might not be so happy that he's our 3B.
  4. QUOTE (knightni @ May 2, 2010 -> 04:40 PM) 6 Ks in two days. Do you think that Beckham should sit tomorrow in favor of Nix or Vizquel? I think he's really messed up mentally right now. Just not hitting the pitches he's supposed to be hitting. I wonder what's going on.
  5. QUOTE (scotty22hotty @ May 2, 2010 -> 09:44 AM) Based on UZR... Of the 24 players that had at least 800 innings at 3b last year Beckham (1st year) was ranked 14 and Teahen was ranked 21 (5th year) This year based on at least 150 innings played hes ranked 29/30 at 3b ... just ahead of Jhonny Peralta. The top players KW could have signed: So far... Adrian Beltre (9M/1, 5M option) is ranked 6th Miguel Tejada (6M/1) is ranked 7th Teahen currently has a 12.5M/3 contract (2.25M this year) saving around 4M (~66%) compared to Tejada. Simply put, you get what you paid for. Once again, UZR after one month isn't exactly a valid measuring stick.
  6. QUOTE (GREEDY @ May 2, 2010 -> 07:52 AM) According to +/-, Teahen has been the 32nd best 3B this season. I do not believe there is a minimum games played requirement yet, so there has to be quite a few "eligible" players. Bill's site will not show them in list form past the top ten; but for what it's worth everyone I checked on ranked higher than 32nd. To my eye he has been terrible, and according to +/- he is the worst. The problem with using defensive metrics at this point in the season is that the sample size is not large enough. This tells you nothing about Teahen's skills as a defender. UZR and +/- need far larger sample sizes to truly measure a player's defensive ability. Both have large fluctuations.
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ May 2, 2010 -> 03:32 PM) Hughes always had it. He'd been tearing up the minors before he came up a few years ago. He just never got enough learning innings under his belt to succeed in the majors, until last year. Well, he did get a huge kick in velocity last year somehow. He used to be a low 90s guy, but last year, he started throwing in the mid to high 90s. He's taken that to the starting rotation with him this year. He's consistently around the mid 90s with good control. Very devastating combo.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 2, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) Yeah, that's really the way you have to look at it. The baseball season is a marathon, especially if your team is underperforming, and especially especially if your team is not hitting. But this is only one game, and should be treated as such, no matter how humiliating it has been. To the Sox' credit, they hit pretty well on this road trip. They scored a total of 28 runs in 6 games. That's almost 5 runs a game, which I will definitely take. The pitching staff was just bad, but you kind of expect that facing two good offenses.
  9. I didn't expect us to win this game. Hughes has really found it after moving to the pen last year. Plus, with Buehrle's struggles against the Yankees, it didn't make the odds any better. Time to kick some ass against KC when we get back home.
  10. Brett Gardner is kicking our ass.
  11. QUOTE (scotty22hotty @ May 2, 2010 -> 12:10 AM) I like how the article just focuses on his offense. Beckham is one of the best fielding 2b in the league. Yet KWs(Ozzies) latest pickups, Teahen and Pierre are in the bottom 5 at their position... Based on what? I know his UZR is currently a +2, but that's a pretty small sample size and I don't think it means much of anything.
  12. I just realized that if you take this team's games against the Indians out of their record, they're 9-9. 9-9 against Seattle, Minnesota, Texas, Toronto, and New York isn't all that bad, to be honest with you. Man it really sucks that we're 1-5 against such a crappy team.
  13. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 1, 2010 -> 06:44 PM) In fairness, he doesn't look comfortable doing much of anything... What can you say? He's just an awkward fellow.
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 1, 2010 -> 01:05 AM) Brad Lidge makes his presence known right away: 0.1 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 1 HR And are the Mets legit? That's 10/11 for them. Rod Barajas is leading the team in HRs. They're getting outstanding SP. Ike Davis and Jenrry Mejia have performed admirably. No way. There's no way Pelfrey throws like a Cy Young contender. Plus, their offense is pretty mediocre when they're not all on fire. Although when Beltran gets back, they get pretty formidable.
  15. QUOTE (gatnom @ May 1, 2010 -> 01:59 AM) When Brent Lillibridge grows up, he wants to be just like him.
  16. If A.J. continues to hit like this, it might be time to move him back to the 5th spot. Teahen isn't liking that spot, apparently.
  17. He's been pretty bad so far. But if there's anything positive, it's that he rarely makes errors on throws.
  18. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 11:13 PM) Nix should have never been playing the outfield. It's a travesty to have him out there and Teahen at 3b. To be honest with you, Nix was pretty close to catching that ball and it wasn't like it was a routine play.
  19. QUOTE (Reddy @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 10:20 PM) oh and in case you're all wondering, yankees fans are cocksuckers. was at the game, and they were yelling RIIIIOOOOS YOU SUCK! over. and over. and over. and over. not to mention verbally abusing basically everyone not wearing yankees garb. and en masse. usually yeah ok fine that happens to an extent. but damn it's crazy out here. and to think i was so excited those first 2 innings... ugh. It's New York, what do you expect?
  20. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 03:46 PM) <!--quoteo(post=2137985:date=Apr 30, 2010 -> 02:57 PM:name=WhiteSoxfan1986)-->QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 02:57 PM) <!--quotec-->http://deadspin.com/5527570/in-which-we-st...old-phenom-beau Thought this was pretty funny. This kid as pretty awesome. For a 3 year old, he has some serious power.
  21. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 02:05 PM) Ramirez SS (1:12 BB:SO) Beckham 2B Jones RF Konerko 1B Rios CF Quentin DH (LIES!) Teahen 3B Lucy C Pierre LF (LIES!) Garcia P So Pierre isn't sitting...WTF Ozzie? Alexei's even worse at leading off than Pierre is.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 29, 2010 -> 09:58 PM) Great. He's walked 50 times one season in his career. If Mark Teahen gets the most ABs on your team, the playoffs are not something you realistically think about. Of course he's not going to walk 16% of the time for the rest of the year, but the fact that he's shown patience and has been able to hit so far should qualify him for the leadoff role.
  23. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 30, 2010 -> 10:00 AM) I also see a scene that looks like KW telling Randy Williams, "It's not going to work out for you, sorry." It's depressing that this turned out to be a joke. Oh seriously? That was Randy Williams? DAMN IT KENNY. Why weren't you serious?
  24. If it means he's replacing Kotsay or Pierre, I am all for it. If he's playing the field, no. If he's not going to replace either of those two, no as well.
