  1. QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 09:03 PM) I'm not sure what other options he had. There was no question Thornton was going to be called in to face Sizemore, Choo, and Hafner. I suppose we could have brought him in to start the inning, but... Jake was rolling along pretty nicely. I don't think bringing him out to start the 8th was a horrible idea. But neither he or Thornton got the job done. What do you do? Besides, if our offense was worth a damn, it probably wouldn't have mattered. Two walks in the 7th. If A.J. didn't throw Valbuena out, he might have given up the tying run in the 7th.
  2. Matt LaPorta is now MaTola, hahaha. Ozzie, you should quit this job if you don't even know who's on the other team. Jesus.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 05:51 PM) for the remainder of April 1) Come see Sergio Santos 2) It's Still Early 3) Gordon Beckham...Gordon Beckham. 4) Andruw Jones, he's not as bad as we thought. 5) Alex Rios, he's not as bad as we thought. 6) Come see Peavy, Putz, Konerko, AJ, Jenks and Buehrle before they're traded. 7) Even Ranger Rongey is now questioning Ozzie...which means even YOU, the casual fan, could probably do a better job than Ozzie. 8) We can beat the Indians and possibly the Royals in attendance 9) Only the SOX can make a hero out of Asdrubal Cabrera, who hits .194 against RHP and is a vital cog in the worst offense in baseball, and cause season ticket holders to ditch their tickets after the first homestand. 10) We have the hitting coach with the longest tenure in the AL Central Division. Asdrubal Cabrera is a pretty good hitter though.
  4. Ozzie's comments after game, "I think our offense has to get better" #1. The offense scored enough runs to have a lead in the 8th, you were part of the reason that lead disappeared. #2. You had a lot to do with putting this PoS offense together. #3. Maybe you should say "my bad" one of these days for wasting our time with this 4-8 team.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 05:42 PM) Can we please get a long reliever so we don't have to waste Thornton and Jenks in blow outs? Tony Pena?
  6. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 05:23 PM) Thornton's gives up too many big runs. I think you're forgetting how many runs he does not give up...
  7. What?!?! Peavy's going back in. This is going to suck.
  8. I can't watch the game, but it appears that Jake pulled his weight today.
  9. The Cavs went on a rust streak in the third. If it wasn't for that, this game wouldn't have been interesting at all. This team has to rebound better in game 2 to have a chance at making the game entertaining.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) According to the announcers, this is the first time two Jakes have started against each other in ML history. Wow. Such BS.
  11. I hate Fox so much. I get the stupid Mets game. WTF?
  12. The Bulls have to play good D, force misses, run the floor so they can take Shaq out on defense. That opens up your inside game a bit and Rose can drive more inside. Right now, they're playing like a WNBA team passing the ball around and taking mid/long range shots. That's not going to work.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 09:26 PM) Of course he would immediately get another job. He won the damn World Series. He feels comfortable in Chicago. He'd shut the f*** up if he was the skipper of the Marlins or somebody. He's Ozzie in Chicago; like Ditka. He is comfortable here after being with this organization so long and a fixture in the city. There's a big time comfort level with the owner and media. I think a lot of guys could have managed that team to a WS.
  14. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 12:32 PM) Didnt realize this until Ozzie tweeted it... the Bulls and Sox are both in Cleveland. Weren't the Sox and Bulls also in Toronto on Monday?
  15. It appears that this team does not want to achieve .500 ever again.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 12:30 PM) Is Chris B. Young for real again? Or just an anomalous beginning to 2010? Should I write another article revisiting the Javy Vazquez trade? From Phil Rogers Maybe. But it's also like asking, "is Vernon Wells for real again?". It's too early to tell. The Diamondbacks were a hell of a team for a good two months in 08, but then everybody on that team regressed the rest of the year. I don't think Young is that great of a player to begin with, but he could have a much, much better season than he did last year, which isn't saying all that much.
  17. Freddy's velocity was really bad yesterday, he was only around 87 and never got it up above 90. But if he keeps throwing around 90-92 like he did against the Twins, he should be ok. I don't know what it is, but it appears that our pitchers are losing velocity up there in Toronto.
  18. Besides Randy Williams and one terrible outing by Linebrink, the bullpen has been very, very good.
  19. I would only hire Ozzie if my team is full of sluggers who can't bunt, has a bullpen with more than two quality left handed relief pitchers, and a really good bench. This way, Ozzie can't ever play his favorite sucky bench players or throw Randy Williams into the fire every time he has a chance to. I don't have many problems with Ozzie off the field. In fact, I think he does a good job of keeping the team loose and letting the guys be who they are. But when it comes to in-game decisions, yuck.
  20. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 10:46 PM) No doubt he will get his. Your right though you can't let guys like Mo Williams, West, etc.. beat you. Mo Williams was quite bad last year in the playoffs, was he not? Or he was against Orlando, if I remember.
  21. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 05:09 PM) I didn't know that Teahen could lift multiple thousands of pounds! Wow! He literally carried the entire team on his back! Correction: he didn't carry Andruw Jones.
