  1. Hahaha, yeah right. No way in hell would I want him on this team.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 10:26 PM) i wonder how much the deal is for...a 33 year old utility guy who just had a career year...im thinking they probably overpaid Plus they'll lose a draft pick. They definitely overpaid. Somebody like Figgins would have made more sense for them and their money. Figgins could play SS and 2B, but you can slide Pedroia over to SS and move Figgins to 2B. You get a guaranteed player instead of one that's coming off a career year. However, Scutaro does have some nice peripherals, he walks a ton.
  3. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 04:51 PM) Uggla expects to be traded. What would the Marlins want? Package around Alexei + Flowers/Danks? Becks moves back to SS, Uggla to 2B obviously.... 1) Beckham SS 2) Uggla 2B 3) Quentin LF 4) Konerko 1B 5) Pierzynski C 6) Jones DH 7) Rios CF 8) Teahan 3B 9) Kotsay RF ? Or maybe we give them one of Danks/Floyd instead of Alexei and keep Alexei at SS, Becks at 3B, Uggla at 2B, and Teahan into the OF? Alexei and Flowers/Danks? Get out of here, no way. Dan Uggla is barely good enough to warrant Alexei alone.
  4. QUOTE (League @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 09:14 PM) They're going after Bay, Harden and Lackey as well. That could be one hell of a club. Well... Bay, Gutierrez, Ichiro is one hell of an outfield. Plus, putting Figgins at 3B helps a bit. They'll re-sign Branyan for 1B or DH. Wilson will be at SS with Lopez at 2B. I don't know who they'll have catching though. They traded Clement away and Johjima's back in Japan. Their lineup looks decent, but if they get Lackey and Harden to go along with Felix, they could really do some things with that bullpen of theirs and a decent offense. But this is all on paper. There's no guarantee that Harden even stays healthy.
  5. Oakland eats Aaron Miles' contract to get a potentially good DH in Fox. Good for them.
  6. Saito signs with Atlanta. $3 million for one year. How many old relievers do the Braves need? Seems like a very good deal, definitely one we could have offered.
  7. QUOTE (C_LEE45 @ Dec 2, 2009 -> 03:47 PM) i would love for the sox to get Derosa, Hudson. I would have liked DeRosa a lot better than Teahen.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 10:28 AM) And the Raul Ibanez contract ain't lookin' like the bargain it was after he fell off considerably in the second half. That's the 'danger' when you're in win-now mode. Raul still has a couple of years left in him. Just not the type of year he had last year.
  9. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 09:32 AM) $18M total. That's an incredible haul for Polanco. I'm curious as to what Boras' asking price is for Adrian Beltre if the Phillies would rather shell out $18M for a 34 year old Placido Polanco who had a down year at the plate in 2009 and hasn't played the position since 2005 and a total of 153 INN since 2003. He hasn't played 3B since 05. I don't know how the Phillies came up with this plan...
  10. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 2, 2009 -> 01:42 PM) 2008? I just saw that he hit almost .500 in last year's ALDS, so yeah, the past two postseasons.
  11. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Dec 2, 2009 -> 12:19 PM) Yeah, all Carrasco did for us was work 132 IP in 1.5 seasons out of the bullpen for us with a 3.82 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP. I agree that he's not a setup man and he belongs in LR, but let's not be stupid. When I meant overrate, I meant that the organization overrated his talent level, not exactly his past performance. Like to the point where they might think he's good enough to take on bigger roles when he's not.
  12. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 2, 2009 -> 05:49 AM) Perfect for a backup. Shoppach was money in 08 though. He has the potential to hit 25 home runs with a high slugging % as a regular. I think that's something Tampa might look into.
  13. $7 million for him? I don't think so. Not in this market.
  14. Billy Wagner got $7 million? Talk about overpaying!
  15. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Dec 2, 2009 -> 10:14 AM) Agreed. Carrasco is ready for an expanded role. No question he was good in his role last year, but we cant wait to see if the guys who are supposed to get late inning outs...will. Carrasco isn't that great of a pitcher in all honesty. He doesn't have the stuff to be in a setup role. His fastball is okay, but his secondary pitchers just don't scream setup man. His under-arm curveball is nice, but once hitters see that enough, it won't be that effective. Keep Carrasco where he is. It seems like Ozzie and the organization loves to overrate the guy for some weird reason.
  16. With the money we're paying him, you might as well use him in middle relief. Ozzie will end up doing that anyway. What we'll see is that Linebrink will be at least halfway decent coming into the year and then absolutely fail in July and beyond. So for about the first couple of months, Linebrink might not be such a huge issue as long as he's not a setup man.
  17. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Dec 2, 2009 -> 11:33 AM) I feel like Vlad has always been bad facing the white sox. Though maybe i'm just thinking about 05 postseason. Up till this past postseason, Vlad has been horrible in the playoffs. So it's not only us...
  18. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 1, 2009 -> 05:06 PM) What exactly is the difference between the current points in their careers? Neither has any business playing the outfield everyday but one is willing to accept a full time DH position and the other is not. They've also put up nearly identical production over the past 2 years with the only real difference being that Vlad missed some time last year. I'd say Vlad has considerably more upside as a hitter. You're right, both are pretty much the same at this point. However, Dye ended last year hitting like crap while Guerrero ended the year pretty strong. Plus, I'd also say that Guerrero is actually a little better of a fielder than Dye at this point, but only because Dye sucks a lot. Lastly, I think Guerrero's name puts people in the seats. More so than Dye or Thome. I thought the Sox didn't have that much to spend, how are we going to afford both Guerrero and Putz? I mean, I would love to get both, but I just don't see it.
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 1, 2009 -> 10:27 PM) Kelly Shoppach isn't exactly a catcher for the future. He's a damn good power hitter though.
  20. So I saw that Mike McKenzie got picked off the street and played really well for the Saints against Brady and the Pats offense. I also thought that the Bears needed some god damn help in the secondary. I also knew that Nick Roach sucked at being a line backer and that anybody off the scrap heap could have been better. I guess Bears management didn't know any of this before they signed Cato June when the team is now out of playoff contention. Way to stay on top of the game.
  21. I like this. He did have a 1.35 WHIP last year though. Nothing dominating.
  22. I would jump for joy if we can get Okajima, Bard, and Ellsbury. Seems kind of unrealistic.
  23. Wow, that's gold. Seriously, why can't MLB.com hire some people who are good at Photoshop? That's atrocious.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 26, 2009 -> 12:49 PM) Wise was done in Chicago the moment Ozzie laid eyes on Mark Kotsay. This proves that Ozzie is not racist. Let's hope to god that Kotsay hits as well as he did with us last year.
