  1. Bulls got a generous call there at the end. Win's a win though. Oh and Deng's ball definitely did hit the rim. It ended up evening out.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 08:26 PM) for me it wasnt the hair, it was the look. Plus, last year when he won his cy young award he looked RIPPED at his press conference. You can see the pot in his eyes! Seriously.
  3. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 06:55 PM) He projected Chris Davis to hit .300 with 40 homers this year. James goes way overboard on the young players. The problem with Davis is that he just swings at everything. Flowers may strike out a lot, but he's also selective.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 01:48 PM) LMAO http://www.sportsbybrooks.com/yankee-stadi...-tomorrow-26827 Epic lulz
  5. Not a horrible deal. He played up to the price this past season.
  6. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 11:24 AM) Yes, nine year-old Yankee fans finally have a championship. http://www.midwestsportsfans.com/2009/11/9...r-championship/ Kinda funny. My 7 year old brother never witnessed anything like this before. xD
  7. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 10:57 AM) Maybe JR is going to spend more money than many of us think. Adding 4 million for Teahen, while at the same time creating a hole in the infield, isn't pinching pennies. Here's hoping for 120 million payroll and a ws ring. Give Kenny 120 million and he'll win you two World Series rings with the team we have now. That would mean two big free agent signings.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 10:48 AM) If Hamels can figure anything out and Happ develops like a rookie starter should, this Phillies team could easily be back next year. Remember, they get Lee a full year next year. I doubt Happ develops. Sophomore slump is more likely. He overperformed this year to say the least.
  9. For once, I'm actually glad that the Yankees won the damn thing. It's been too long.
  10. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 10:49 AM) Check his minor league splits, an inability to hit right handers is an anomaly at this point in his career, not a rule. He was also an incredible player in the minors. Doesn't really mean that he'll be an incredible player up here. It could be an anomaly though. Although I don't see him succeeding up to his talent level unless he starts hitting more line drives.
  11. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 10:43 AM) To me, if this is true, I don't think losing Getz creates that big of a hole. Besides all of the ideas mentioned of sliding players over by using Teahen in the IF or keeping him in RF, there's already a solution whether or not the Sox can sign someone else. If Teahen goes to the IF, you can have a Pods-Rios-CQ OF. Not the best defensively, but not bad (i know the Sox haven't resigned Pods, but personally, I don't think he's going to get a better deal from any other team than the Sox. If Teahen goes to the OF, you have a Kong-Nix-Ramirez-Beckham IF. Not a major change and Nix provides more pop than Getz did. Again, if true, the flexibility the Sox had last year would pay off. Nix still can't hit right handers, that's the problem. Had Nix hit .230 against both right handers and left handers, he'd be an okay everyday player, given the fact that he hits for a lot of power to make up for his s***ty average and he also walks his fair share. But he absolutely sucks against right handers and it just so happens that most of the league throws with their right arm.
  12. I don't know if I want this to happen...at all. Fields would have been enough. Teahen hit like crap down the stretch this past season. Plus, Getz has that special ability to piss you off since he's got that Twins mentality to him.
  13. If you think our free throw shooting sucked, Milwaukee shot 50% from the line. That's horrible.
  14. QUOTE (daa84 @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 09:07 PM) deng with the double double double ....23 pts 20 rebs He's playing out of his mind...like Dwight Howard usually does.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 04:33 PM) They all count the same though. Seems funny to me when proponents of advanced metrics revert to the "eye test" when their data fails to back up their opinion. And this is nothing personal towards you, just in general. That's because metrics aren't perfect. Nobody really claims that they are the truth all the time. I will say that they are true most of the time, but there are definitely exceptions. Pods might be one of them. Here or there, you might see a guy you don't think of as good end up having really good defensive numbers. Sabermetrics are more useful when evaluating players of another team. Mostly because you don't see those players very often. When you see the same guy 150 times a year, you get to know him a lot better than what the stats can tell you. Of course, your eyes can still lie and you can have some weird man crush towards some certain player that can make you extremely biased. One of the most important parts of Sabermetrics is trying to remove the subjectivity of player evaluation. Just because Carlos Gomez always kicks our ass doesn't make him a good player. Just because Hawk loves Gomez doesn't make him Ricky Henderson.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 02:47 PM) For my money, the Twins are last, and the Royals are a step above. Let me put it this way, who was the last big named player the Twins have brought in? OMG IT'S SHANNON STEWART. DROOOOOLLLLL
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 03:07 PM) That Pods is cheaper and about the same age and I don't want Damon. Cheaper and worse on offense. With our team possibly lacking a lot of power, especially left handed power for the upcoming year, I don't see why you wouldn't want Damon if he came at a good price (which he probably won't, but hey, who knows?).
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 03:04 PM) Didn't Pods actually have a decent year defensively this year by most metrics? Pods is actually decent overall in most metrics. He was actually one of the top LFs back in 05 according to the Fielding Bible. He was a barely below average fielder last year, including center field, which I found quite surprising. But then again, when you watch a guy for 150 games and get to know his tendencies, that's actually more accurate than what metrics do tell you. Metrics state whether or not the player made the out or not, it doesn't tell you how he made the out or how easy or difficult it was for him. For Pods, every out is difficult.
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 3, 2009 -> 02:42 PM) This probably would have been a better way to word it, but yes I'd rather have Pods. Damon can't throw the baseball. Yeah he's a grinder who has had some great at bats in the WS. We need to get more creative. No thanks to Johnny. Pods can't throw either. What's your point?
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 2, 2009 -> 01:06 PM) Sounds like either us or Cleveland. They're pretty damn familiar with Manny...
  21. A look at Damon's numbers this year basically says that New Yankee Stadium helped him get more home runs and doubles... His LD% went down by 6%, resulting in a slightly lower average, his FB% went up by nearly 8% and he had a career high in HR/FB with a 12.6%. It was clear that he realized he only needs to hit some pop ups deep enough to right to get them out. Take him out to the Cell and you won't see the .490 SLG% that he put up this year. But, anyway you put it, he's an upgrade over Pods. Although I don't know if he's going to be worth it for the money we're going to have to dish out for him. Oh yeah, he does suck on defense. In fact, UZR says he sucks a lot more than Pods. He's getting near Jermaine Dye bad.
  22. About time. Mark's always been a great fielder and it's nice to see him win an actual award that's actually objective...
  23. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 23, 2009 -> 09:11 AM) Jailbreaking is very dangerous. If you screw it up, or something goes wrong, you have a completely dead iPod and Apple wont fix it for you. Jailbreaking is one of the safest mods out there. There is no such thing as bricking an iPhone or iPod touch, thanks to DFU mode.
