  1. JUST SAY NO To Erik Bedard. He's an oft-injured p****.
  2. Robinson Tejada pitched for the Royals today. Have you guys noticed how good he's been since that game where he shut us down for 3 straight innings?
  3. If it means he won't be so bad come the start of the season, okay. I can't stand watching him play in April and May.
  4. I think this is relevant enough for some comic relief.
  5. Praise Jesus! I'd take this over the signing of Chone Figgins. xD
  6. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Sep 14, 2009 -> 10:15 AM) A dislocated wrist shouldn't keep you out 4 months. Unless there's something else wrong, he should be back after a few games. Heck, even a BROKEN wrist shouldn't keep someone out the whole season. The article said there were some other complications.
  7. Good. This will put some people in the seats.
  8. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Sep 14, 2009 -> 01:17 AM) Urlacher dislocated his wrist, surgery Monday, out 3-4 weeks. Per the Tribune. This sucks hard.
  9. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Sep 14, 2009 -> 12:13 AM) Oh by the way. Hester is going to the pro-bowl this year as a WR. He looked awfully good. It's amazing how easily he could be one of the better receivers in the league. Maybe he's finally figured it out now.
  10. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 13, 2009 -> 10:54 PM) yeah what a bastard...why did he tell Des/Knox to stop running routes? WHYYYYY The fact that he nearly threw three interceptions on three straight plays should tell you how bad Cutler was in the first half. Yes, the receivers made many mistakes, but you shouldn't cut Cutler that much slack.
  11. I find it funny that Devin Hester was good and didn't drop passes, but Cutler made so many poor decisions, it's hard to express in words. Oh how things can change...
  12. QUOTE (League @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 09:18 PM) Right. Our next game is against Kazmir, who we've already knocked the s*** out of this season and Ian Snell, who has been garbage all year. After that we possibly have Peavy going, it's very possible for us to win our next three and it's equally possible for the Tigers to lose two of their next three. That happens and we're three games back with 6 left against them, they just got swept by the royals and now the Blue Jays are thumping them, the Tigers are burning out just as we're heating up. Have none of you learned anything about this team yet? Just when they give you hope, they start sucking. What happens after Mark Buehrle throws perfect game? We go 1-5 on an awful road trip. What happens after we win a big series against KC with a matchup of Greinke vs. Contreras? We lose a series to the Orioles and win 2 of our next 10. This team will give you hope and suck it away. It's been doing that all year. Would I like to see it not do that? Of course. It's not about who's right or wrong, it's about this team being absolute crap when it matters most. That's why I don't see it winning this division. BTW, Kazmir has been much better since joining the Angels. He's not the same guy we faced earlier on in the year with the Rays. Knowing this team, Ian Snell might cause some trouble.
  13. QUOTE (League @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 09:06 PM) Since the other games we're playing don't mean anything or affect the standings. We'll probably end up losing most of those anyways.
  14. Sosa at 3? Are you serious? Big Frank behind Santo? What? Seriously, putting Frank behind Ozzie is even stupid.

    14-7

If only the Rays didn't suck so much against Detroit. Maybe then I could have actually believed in this team... It's still doable, but it's on the side of very improbable. In a lot of ways, this team just sucks. Plain and simple.
  16. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 9, 2009 -> 11:39 PM) In my view, as good as Jermaine was in the first half of this season, that's how as bad he's been now. -Tim McCarver Whatever McCarver says is always false. ALWAYS.
  17. If C.C. gets his ERA around 3, he's probably going to win it. Just because he will have around 20 wins and play for the Yankees. Greinke might be hard pressed to win 16-17 games. If he does, I don't see how you don't give him the award. But the thing is, these voters weigh W-L record almost as much as ERA. Bartolo Colon won the award in 2005 with a ERA of 3 and a half. He won it because he went 21-5. Johan's ERA was nearly a run lower and he finished 3rd.
  18. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Sep 6, 2009 -> 07:17 PM) 1. Go to Comerica Park with a large cauldron. 2. Add the following ingredients to the cauldron: 3 toads feet 1 cup shredded leather from Brandon Inge's glove from the 2006 World Series 1 brick from the old Tiger Stadium 25 Bobby Higginson rookie cards 1 pint of Dontrelle Willis blood 1 oz. Jair Jurrjens pubic hair (good luck shaving those balls, you'll need a f***ing weedwhacker) 25 newspapers with references to Rob Deer being a good hitter 3 oz. Gary Sheffield urine 3. Kill 3 Detroit-area crackheads, drain their blood, and add this to the soup. 4. Bring to a rolling boil, then simmer for 25 minutes. 5. Steal a game-used hat from Allan Trammell's house from his managing career, then use the hat to scoop out the liquid, forming a large circle in the parking lot outside of Comerica Park. 6. Inside this circle, light Neifi Perez on fire. Just let him burn for a while. 7. After Neifi is nice and charred, but still wiggling around in the fetal position, scoop three more hatfuls out of the cauldron and toss them at Neifi to put out the fire. 8. Turn to the East, then chant three times: This is what you get you f***ers! This is what you get you f***ers! This is what you get you f***ers! And that should about do it. Expect a 15 game losing streak to begin immediately. Caution: casting this spell most likely leads to the 2009 AL Central Champion Minnesota Twins. Hahahhaha. I like how you put so much effort into this.
  19. Merriman was getting together with Tila Tequila? Really?
  20. Why is Joe Maddon so stupid? Russ Springer? Really?
  21. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 6, 2009 -> 02:04 PM) You say average I say solid. Every player has things to improve upon. He's one of the top rookies in the league. I predicted his success in the predictions thread at the beginning of the season so its not like I'm jumping on the bandwagon while he's been hot. The difference between a solid player and an average player is that an average player has 3-4 things they don't do well. Solid players might have 1-2 depending on their purpose on a team. And he's one of the better rookies this year because, sadly, this rookie class kind of sucks. I guess we're just kind of spoiled after having both Longoria and Ramirez in the rookie class last year.
