  1. Still a no-hitter. Hairston misplayed a routine grounder.
  2. I'm watching the Yankees game instead of this game because seeing Andy Pettitte possibly throw a perfecto is much more satisfying than watching our crappy hitters try to hit.
  3. The old man's still getting it done.
  4. Blackburn's been s*** lately. I don't know how you don't hit him.
  5. Would that have been a DP had Floyd not deflected it?
  6. Paulie should stay. #1. Who's gonna replace him next year if you get rid of Dye and Thome as well. #2. He's not having a bad year. #3. Harder to trade since he's 10/5 and under contract until 2011.
  7. We're not going to get much back. Should have dealt one of them at the deadline.
  8. BTW, Markakis is actually having kind of a down year. His OPS was around .900 last year. He didn't hit for great power earlier on this year.
  9. I think we all know what is going to happen... Every game in this dump has a similar script.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 06:57 AM) Basically, you come up with a list of 10 players (pitchers included) regardless of position having above average, or in some cases, outstanding seasons, that have gotten little to no national recognition (I.E. they don't play for the NY teams or the Red Sox). Here's my list from 10th best to best: 10: Nick Markakis - .305 BA, 41 2B, 16 HR, 89 RBI, .356 OBP, .479 SLG, .835 OPS 9: Aaron Hill - .285 BA, 31 HR, 85 RBI, .497 SLG 8: Jason Bartlett - .337 BA, .913 OPS 7: Michael Young - .326 BA, 35 2B, 22 HR, .908 OPS 6: Ryan Zimmerman - .299 BA, 27 HR, 90 RBI, .901 OPS 5: Huston Street - 33/34 save chances, 10.40 K/9, 2.25 B/9, 4.67 K/BB 4: Ubaldo Jiminez - 12-10, 3.33 ERA, 7.84 K/9, .230 BAA, 1.22 WHIP 3: Mark Reynolds - .280 BA, 40 HR, 90 RBI, .882 OPS 2: Kendry Morales - .311, 34 2B, 30 HR. 91 RBI, .948 OPS 1: Josh Johnson - 13-3, 3.04 ERA, 7.81 K/9, 2.15 BB/9, 3.63 K/BB, .235 BAA, 1.11 WHIP I don't know about Young and Zimmerman. Both made the All-Star team. I really like both Reynolds and Morales.
  11. Kenny's lucky he's got Jake Peavy and hot prospects to show off this September. If he didn't, there would be around 20k at every home game.
  12. QUOTE (stretchstretch @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 03:53 PM) fact: since August 2005, this team has changed a WHOLE lot of names and faces, including signing many big name players and maintaining a top 5-10 MLB payroll.... yet every Aug-Sept including 2005 and since, I've essentially wanted to slit my wrists watching this team the last two months of the season....Ozzie has been the constant during this time and with widely varying staff when the coach is the only common denominator on an "underachieving" star studded lineup, you have to look squarely at the leader and wonder why so many players, both young and veteran, seem to lose focus, intensity, will-to-win, hustle, etc in the key stretch of the year? I have been and will always be in the camp that says we won the WS in spite of Ozzie Guillen, rather than because of Ozzie Guillen....as has been stated too many times, the Sox were 0.5 game away from not making the playoffs in 2005 after being up by an ungodly amount heading into August. I also believe the relief of not having one of the biggest collapses in MLB history allowed them to loosen up in the playoffs, but that just like all seasons since the mgr was not able to keep his club battling and focused the final two months of the reg season. fact: this team has absolutely nothing to lose changing managers. players from many different teams that arrived on the sox clearly do not respond to him when things start going bad, and after FIVE CONSECTIVE August-Septembers of the same basic result, this fan for one, will try just about any other manager out there, knowing the only thing I have to lose for the pathetic amount of hours and emotion I put into them, is another pathetic final two months. You can say the same for all the Jerry Manual teams. None of them did well down the stretch. Especially in 2003, even 2000. That team ran out of gas. The White Sox are just a bad team down the stretch and have been for the past decade.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 03:31 PM) The Rios move was a TERRIBLE move. He got a 28 year old 5-tool player for no prospects. He took on the contract, alright. But, are you honestly going to b**** when Rios has the ability to put up a .800+ OPS and play a stellar CF while making $11 million a year? We're going to have him in the middle of his prime. He might not be hitting now, but he hasn't hit well all year. It's just a bad year for him in terms of luck.
  14. I don't know how you can get mad at him after getting Rios and Peavy. Now, if he didn't make those moves, I would have some issues.
  15. I really don't think any of this is Ozzie's fault.
  16. It's not easy to find great 3B you know... I think Bill James said that 3B was the hardest position to fill on the field.
  17. 6 back. A week ago, we were like what? 2.5 games back? Crazy.
  18. QUOTE (CQMVP @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 02:51 PM) I think his arm is just done. He's only got so many pitches in it, and he has passed that point. He still has really good velocity. He just can't throw the breaking pitches anymore.
  19. QUOTE (b-Rye @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 02:43 PM) Nick Masset: 2.81 ERA 57.2 IP Mike Macdougal: 1.98 ERA 36 IP David Aardsma: 2.26 ERA 31 Saves I would like them back. ...And people told me that Masset was nothing special last year when I said I didn't like how we gave up Masset in the Griffey deal.
  20. I'd rather see Detroit win the thing than Minnesota. Go Tigers... It was good to see Freddy throw a decent game. After the Damon home run, he really pitched well. He looks like 06 Freddy. Maybe he can be our 5th starter next year. Keep him around.
  21. Johnny Damon looks like he one hands his home runs. WTF?
  22. He completely missed his spot and Posada caught the ball so weirdly that he was almost standing up. How does that get called for a strike?
