Come on guys, when was the last time we had this kind of excitement for a prospect this early in his career? I don't think Mike Caruso or Aaron Rowand excited people this much. The last one who had this kind of effect was probably Frank Thomas. In that respect, it's not totally crazy to think that Gordon can be in the hall someday. But if you don't think about it that way, it's absolutely insane.

Phil Rogers needs to make a public apology to KW. I'll be laughing my ass off when Tyler Flowers is putting up a .850 OPS for us in the next couple of years.

The Angels can kick some ass on offense right now, but their pitching isn't all that good. We've found ways to play the Angels quite well these past couple of years. We've hit Lackey well as of late. Saunders has always been a pain in the ass, but he's struggling. We killed Santana last time out. I think we'll be okay. Their bullpen is also quite vulnerable. Brian Fuentes is a mess right now.

It's funny that the Rays actually lost this game... There's been three games this year where guys have had no hitters/perfect games through 5 innings and their team lost. Randy Wells, Mark Buehrle, and now James Shields.

Here's how good Beckham is... Among all 3B with at least 200 plate appearances, his wOBA (weighted on base average) is only 7 points behind both Evan Longoria and Chipper Jones. He's ahead of Chone Figgins, Ryan Zimmerman, Scott Rolen, Brandon Inge, and Casey Blake.

All that being said, Beckahm seems to be your 2009 AL ROY. Romero is faltering a bit. He doesn't appear to be the K pitcher we may have seen earlier in the year, and the rest of the peripherals are also coming in a bit. With Toronto out of it they're not going to be pushing him come 4 weeks from now. Porcello is in the same situation as well. Yeah, like I haven't noticed that he's raised his batting average nearly 30 points in the past couple of months... Problem is, it's still not good enough to win him rookie of the year honors. Not even close. Could I be wrong in a month or two? Maybe. But when you're hitting .360 in the past month, you're kind of due to slip a little bit.

Beckham's now got a .860 OPS. I think that should translate to an OPS+ of about 120. His defense has improved as well, his UZR's gone up a point since the last time I checked.

There were some rumors that we went after Cody Ross (or so I read on ESPN). He's a really good player. He's got a good glove in center and he has a lot of power for a guy his size. I really don't care that he makes more outs than the average player, his slugging% makes up for it. His UZR/150 was an amazing 18.3 in center last year. For some reason, he's fallen off a bit this year. I think we should go after him in the off-season since we still need a center fielder for next year. He shouldn't be that expensive as he's going to be 30 next year.
