I know somebody of the same exact name...scary.

Didn't Pena have one decent year at the plate?

Rosenthal says we could be interested in Rios.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 16, 2009 -> 02:40 PM) If we get money with his contract, we will give up something decent. If we take his contract, we could get him for nothing. Heck we could probably claim him off of waivers soon enough if we really wanted him. As for Teahen, I doubt he will be as cheap as you think. Its hard to find a guy that does as much as he does and still has a decent bat. He's a barely above average player and he doesn't warrant anything great. I'd imagine a package involving John Shelby would definitely sway KC to make the trade. -

QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jul 16, 2009 -> 01:20 PM) But probably more expensive in terms of what the Sox would have to give up. Probably not... We'll be handcuffed financially if we get Rios and I'm betting the Jays will be asking for a decent return. With Teahen, we can give them 2-3 mediocre prospects and he'd be ours. -

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 16, 2009 -> 02:28 PM) I just heard about 3 analysts predict the Sox to win the division today.. . Should be a pretty cool 2nd half of the season regardless. As far as the Sox and Rios? No way in hell. If KW takes on a mega contract, it would have to be for a starting pitcher. If we are going to add to the offense, why not go after David Dejesus? KC has put Dejesus and Teahen out on the market. His numbers are alittle down this year but he could be a great asset down the stretch. He would have to split time in the OF with Pods, Dye and CQ but im sure Ozzie could find a way to plug him in there. When Minnesota's second half schedule looks about as easy as the Bulls' second half schedule, I find that hard to believe. -

I'd much rather have Teahen as he can play a lot more positions and has been a better hitter this year. If we're thinking more down the road, I'd go with DeJesus. -

QUOTE (wilmot825 @ Jul 16, 2009 -> 12:04 PM) How about Mark Teahan? He's a hybrid player, plus there is a thread for him already. Teahen's been much better than Rios this year and he's much cheaper. He's the better option here. -
I didn't even hear any boos. I don't think it's a huge issue... Most people will love the guy, some people will absolutely hate him. I've never seen so much hate for a president that is already elected. If you somehow read the comments on YouTube about him and the conspiracies those idiots bring up, you'd think the election is coming up in a month. And BTW, I saw the Costas interview. I think what he did in the rest of the interview really did erase his mispronunciation of Comiksey. I mean, the guy talked about those old Oakland A's teams with Jackson and Fingers. He obviously knows a thing or two about sports. Him making one mistake isn't the end of the world.

How fast is his fastball now? Can he still hit 90?

QUOTE (Tex @ Jul 15, 2009 -> 09:52 AM) Wasn't it Vasquez? It was. He also said as long as he had his house and Puerto Rico, he'd be fine... What if some terrorists bombed his house in Puerto Rico? Would Javy finally show some damn emotion? -
Have any of you noticed that in every one of the MLB commercials so far, there's a White Sox appearance in them? That usually never happens.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 08:31 PM) Gotta love it when a guy who doesn't belong in the game, Josh Hamilton, screws it up for the AL. The casual baseball fans see the good stats of the 5 hitters before him. Then they see Josh Hamilton's numbers flash across the screen... .243 6 HR 24 RBI Some people at home must be going, "WTF?"
-
Now why didn't Mark do that on Sunday more often? Think he might get one more inning if his spot doesn't come up?
-
Nice interview he had during that last inning. What I don't get is that he was happy the NL got the lead...

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 06:16 PM) I bet he wears an All-Star Game hat. That's what I'm afraid of. xD

Teahen's body just looks weird. It doesn't look proportional. Like his legs are skinny and his upper body is huge. He almost looks like Clayton Richard. Coming out of Oakland and all, I don't think PEDs would be out of the question for him.
-
For almost a decade, Frank was always on the team and our lone rep. Then he couldn't buy himself a ticket into it in the 2000s. He had good years in 2000 and 2003 and didn't even get on the team. What a shame.
-
Barrack must wear a Sox hat. If Shawn Johnson wore one, he must.

If you told me this last season, I would have laughed. But the completely re-done Kauffman stadium is very nice. Should be pretty cool.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 02:52 PM) Fantastic news Problem is, the Bulls don't want to part with Hinrich. I don't see a Boozer deal getting done without Hinrich in it. -
lol...Joe Crowley.

I just looked at Teahen's defensive stats and to say the least, I don't want him to replace Beckham as the everyday 3B. He's not much of an improvement on D and I don't think we should risk moving Beckham over to 2B although I'm pretty sure he will play much better defense there. The only situation where I would deal for Teahen is if Quentin comes back, sucks, injures himself again, and we're stuck with Anderson and Wise again. So then we get Teahen to replace either Wise or Anderson and stick him in LF and put Pods in CF. That way, you semi-replace Quentin's production and get much more out of Teahen than you would out of Anderson and Wise offensively.

QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 01:18 PM) The Bulls have good vets? I'm assuming he's talking about Brad Miller, Kirk Hinrich, and uh...Luol Deng? No wait, that can't be right. -
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 10:18 AM) This is great news. When they speculated that Wakefield would be the starter, I was so angry that I didn't even make a post about it because I would've went on a tirade. That guy doesn't even deserve to be in the game, let alone the starter. I'm in 100% agreement. It's only because he's on the Red Sox...

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 14, 2009 -> 10:56 AM) I hate stupid people. I had this argument yesterday on a different forum with this person who thought not only Carlos Pena was a deserving all-star, but more deserving than PK, Jermaine Dye, Adam Lind, Juan Rivera, and Miguel Cabrera. His main argument was Pena was more deserving because of his OBP and that he is a gold glove defender. At least he didn't make the he has more home runs and RBI argument.
