  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 30, 2009 -> 01:53 PM) I don't think it has been said in this thread, but most are of the opinion that Ozzie would eat Bedard for lunch. Ozzie likes his pitchers tough and fearless, not mushy like pudding. A Bedard with nagging injuries is worse than Bedard on the 60 day DL. He will annoy the hell out of you and make you use other pitchers in his place for spot-starts and screw up the entire rotation. He did that last year with Seattle. He's been healthier this year, but I still wouldn't take a chance on a guy like that.
  2. At least Stern has one of his teams in the finals.
  3. QUOTE (tommy @ May 29, 2009 -> 10:30 PM) I thought Castro is a plus defender behind the plate? According to Sportsnet.ca, he is. http://www2.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/players/Ramon_Castro/ Makes a lot of sense.
  4. No. He has less trade value than Brad Penny right now.
  5. QUOTE (tommy @ May 29, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) It would be great to finally sweep someone, and this is a good start. Jose who? That's how you do it Clayton Richard!!! Offense More like Jake who?
  6. We need to give a dedication thread to Corky. He scorched Liriano for us.
  7. QUOTE (JDsDirtySox @ May 29, 2009 -> 10:25 PM) I found this on a Mets message board and lost it... I just want to learn more about Lance Broadway. He's been a legit prospect in the ChiSox system for a couple years, so I'm just wondering why they were willing to trade a legit starting pitching prospect for a starting-caliber but injury-prone catcher. lulz for realz.
  8. Castro's a much better hitter than Corky. Don't know about defense though. Broadway had no future to begin with. What puzzles me is that the Yankees got Joba with the 41st pick that year. How do you pass on a guy who throws 98 MPH?
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2009 -> 08:50 PM) It wouldn't be a Sox game without the Sox walking the #9 hitter. Clayton's a little rusty. I don't blame him.
  10. I hope Clayton hasn't lost it by now. That was a long inning.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 29, 2009 -> 08:44 PM) OK, I'll get it out of the way for anti jinx purposes. Does this mean we get shut out tomorrow on two hits? Who's pitching tomorrow? That's probably what we'll do against Greinke.
  12. Will our run differential be down to 0 by the end of today? We only need 18 more runs.
  13. BA with two doubles. Now hit him over to third Getz. Screw bunting, you can't do it.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2009 -> 08:09 PM) Anyone flipping to watch Strasburg pitch on ESPN Classic? He's going to be a great pitcher, but I forgot how boring college baseball can be. At least the aluminum bat pings will keep you awake.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 29, 2009 -> 07:51 PM) If Clayton throws 96 mph like it just said on the Royals' TV screen, why aren't we higher on him as a prospect? That's pretty damn fast. He can touch 96. He's usually low 90s though. He wasn't this kind of pitcher back in AAA. He was more of a ground-ball pitcher than a strikeout pitcher. I wonder what happened.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2009 -> 07:43 PM) Texas might make a run at him to play DH. JD in Texas could mean 2006 numbers.
  17. There are just some guys the White Sox can't get out. Mark Teahen's one of them.
