  1. Clayton Richard AKA Trade Bait. I like it. I hope he likes the fact that he was worth maybe 1/4 of Jake Peavy. Maybe he'll be 1/4 as good as Peavy today.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 22, 2009 -> 09:10 PM) We musta won... Game thread under 100 posts Only natural to complain less when the team wins.
  3. Floyd's ERA now down to 6, lowered it by a run and a half...nice. The National League is just what we needed. Now you see why Jake Peavy likes it in the interNational League.
  4. Did the Jake Peavy thing give a smack to Gavin's ass or what? Maybe he finally got the message... But then again, it could be that it's the Pirates.
  5. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 22, 2009 -> 01:25 PM) I love how everyone in the media is trying to make KW look foolish for trading for one of the top 5 pitchers in baseball. Heyman: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writ...ex.html?eref=T1 Verducci: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writ...ikes/index.html Looks like Heyman thinks the White Sox will lose today, he has us at 17-24...lol. He also messed up on his SI article when he said the Padres, not the White Sox, did not want to pick up the 2013 option.
  6. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 30, 2009 -> 02:30 PM) Yes. He had 8 years where his ERA was below the league average (ERA+ of less than 100) and only 7 where he was a very good starting pitcher (ERA+ of 120+). He was a very good starting pitcher that pitched forever, but that doesn't mean he was an absolute stud. I'd also say that Bert Blyleven was a superior pitcher to Ryan. I agree with this. Nolan Ryan's just that guy who was really good but didn't go away when he should have.
  7. Take it slow. 2/3 is the least we should get. But I wouldn't be pissed if we did not sweep somehow.
  8. He's a right handed Erik Bedard in the AL. That being said, I would still say yes.
  9. QUOTE (DABearSoX @ May 22, 2009 -> 10:42 AM) I herd Jake Peavy likes fish sticks Does he like them in his mouth?
  10. QUOTE (DABearSoX @ May 22, 2009 -> 10:37 AM) can we stop talking about Peavy going to the Cubs.....THEIR PAYROLL IS ON LOCKDOWN UNTIL THE TEAM IS SOLD = NOT GONNA HAPPEN That won't happen because it's going to be in the papers for like he next week.
  11. Do any of you want this on your team? Disgusting.
  12. If Rozner means it isn't over, it means that it's 99% over and 1% not over. Forget about it.
  13. If Peavy sees that the Cubs suck too, he won't go. The possibility of the Cubs getting him this year is slim to begin with though. I honestly don't care. Him sucking isn't going to make him feel any worse about not coming here. Some of you just need to get over it. Let the Cubs fans talk their s***, they don't know anything anyhow. Peavy at Wrigley isn't any better than Peavy at the Cell.
  14. QUOTE (BearSox @ May 21, 2009 -> 03:29 PM) f***, I hate graduation. I don't wanna go!!! I want to talk about White Sox, Peavy, and Penguins!!!! Mine's on Sunday. Yeah, I hate it too.
  15. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ May 21, 2009 -> 03:25 PM) I'd definitely petition for that MLB forums poster to join soxtalk. He obviously has some inside connections. The MLB boards? Who on there is giving you all of this inside stuff anyways?
  16. Thing is, do we really want Peavy? His career ERA is 3.80 away from Petco. Now he comes into a better league in a hitter's park. Can we say regression? I know Peavy's a good pitcher and he would probably be our best pitcher if we got him, but damn, he pitched in the WBC in 06 and sucked that year and he's coming off the WBC this year as well and he's also not pitching too well other than his last start against the Reds. I honestly don't see a Jake Peavy in both Richard and Poreda. I think those guys make sense. They're expendable. If this deal doesn't involve Beckham or Alexei, I'm fine with it. I also don't like the idea of getting rid of Dye since this offesne already sucks. The thing with this deal is, I don't see the Sox winning the division even with Peavy. Not with Gavin Floyd pitching the way he has been.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 20, 2009 -> 11:45 AM) Everyone talks about Fields playing solid defense, but if you watch the games closely you'll see that his 3B positioning is awful and that in fact he's flat out mediocre. I don't know if anyone has any defensive metrics (as I am not good at those) which would back what my eyes are telling me but I haven't been impressed at all. I'll also admit I was very spoiled. I think a short stint in AAA is what the doctor ordered and during that time you go with a combo of Nix/Betemeit. They couldn't hit anyworse and your saving Fields in a sense. But I think Fields gets a little bit longer before the Sox go that route and I don't have a problem with that. At this point his trade value is pretty low to the point that all you can do is trade him for another failed prospect (something I'm not opposed to). Fields' UZR/150 (Ultimate Zone Rating per 150 games) is -13.6. His UZR is at -4.1 right now. If you compare that to a good fielder like Longoria, whose UZR/150 is 18.6 and UZR is currently 5.6, that's bad. Fields is below average right now. His UZR is pretty much what it was in 2007.
  18. The difference between this year and last year is that the starting pitching sucks. I had hope last year because I knew this team had at least 4 quality starters in Floyd, Danks, Buehrle, and Vazquez at this point in the season last year. With Floyd forgetting how to pitch, this team has two reliable starters in Buehrle and Danks. Colon is decent, but it's almost a flip of the coin with him sometimes and he's going to run into health problems sooner or later. Richard's last start was promising, but he hasn't shown that he can sustain that type of performance before. If Floyd gets it back together and the offense starts hitting due to the warmer weather, this team still has a chance because this division is bad. I just want to see this team at least compete until August. It would be a really long summer if they play like they did in the past 10 games.
  19. Camby's a nice player if he stays healthy. Good defensively, but his offensive game isn't the same as it was before obviously. I'd rather take Kaman or even take the troubles of Randolph. Randolph's the best of the 3, but with his history, I don't think it would fit well with the Bulls.
  20. Don't get your hopes up too high, but this was definitely refreshing. First win thread in almost a week...
