  1. And this ball game is ovah. Linebrink sucks against Toronto. He's gonna pick up his second loss on the year against them.
  2. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 16, 2009 -> 02:15 PM) Lind f***in golfed ball four. That was as much pure luck as anything. When you're hitting .319, you have some luck. It should have never gotten to that point.
  3. Leave it up to Linebrink to f*** around and give up the hit. Had him 0-2 too.
  4. Why do our relievers always tend to live on the edge? It's going to come back and bite you sometime.
  5. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ May 16, 2009 -> 02:10 PM) They might think differently when they get a good look at some of the crowds later in the season. Being bad is one thing. Being bad and boring with a $100 million payroll is another thing. The 2008 Detroit Tigers are the prime example.
  6. Tim Floyd was f***ed the moment he took the Bulls coaching job 10 years ago.
  7. Went to do something else when it was 3-0, now it's 8-1. What happened to Danks? Not only does our hitting suck, but our pitching sucks too. WTF.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 13, 2009 -> 07:40 PM) Man, I didn't realize he'd been that bad this year, sporting a .629 OPS currently. Is this the last year of his contract? Would have to be, 5 year deal signed in 05 right? There's an option for 2010, which is why the Tigers want him gone. If he reaches a certain amount of plate appearances, the option kicks in. I don't know why the Tigers won't contemplate trading him. But if they don't, that's good for anybody willing to pick him up. He's going to get the league minimum and the Tigers will eat this year's contract. So I really don't see why they can't just give the receiving team Mags and some money. They're already going to eat the deal. If Dombrowski just releases him though, I'd like to see the Sox take a shot. We could have taken a shot on Jones this off-season for $400,000 and look how that's worked out so far. Maybe it's not that bad of an idea to pick up a guy who's over the hill. Anything to get this team going would make me happy. Mags could split time with Thome at DH and start against left handers. He could also spare Dye for a day or two in right every week. It could work out, I just don't know if Mags would want to play for Ozzie again or take the role of a platoon player.
  9. According to RotoWorld, the Tigers could release Mags. Anybody interested? If only Mags was 25 instead of 35...*sigh.
  10. It really does feel like we're 10 games under .500. Maybe it's because we'll probably end up with that kind of record by season's end.
  11. I have no words to describe the dislike I have for this team right now.
  12. This is the first time in about 8 years that I've actually semi-cared about hockey. I think the reason why is because the Hawks are the only team that might actually get somewhere this year, excluding the Bears that is. How much of an accomplishment would it be for this young team to just get to the Western Finals or maybe even the Stanley Cup Finals? Thank god that this is happening because the Sox offense is still in hibernation and the games are really f***ing hard to watch.
  13. This reminds me of that game that Gavin pitched against the Twins last year. We needed a win badly after going 0-6 on that roadtrip to Minnesota and Toronto. Gavin almost threw a no hitter and I think we won 6-0. Or was it 7-0? Don't remember.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 7, 2009 -> 07:42 AM) Palmeiro? He'd have been a for sure HOF had he not taken it. My bad. But Palmiero was on the down-side of his career. Manny's still producing.
  15. Didn't expect this, especially not from Manny. First big name player to be suspended, that's got a real bad ring to it.
  16. All this Tyrus talk when I look up at Lamarcus Aldridge's stats and just start drooling. Damn it John Paxson! We'd still be playing basketball if he didn't make that trade...
  17. Is it just me or the do the Sox always suck really bad in early May?
  18. QUOTE (scenario @ May 4, 2009 -> 07:51 PM) Just looked at last year's standings... One year ago today, we were one game below .500. At least that team had a 5th starter who didn't own an ERA near 8.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2009 -> 07:50 PM) With how good Greinke was pitching, you have no idea if you'll get another chance to put up a crooked number. You never, ever give up the first out when you're trailing by more than 2. We needed 3 runs. 3. If we had done the little things this game well, we wouldn't be arguing about whether or not Podsednik should have bunted. There was one situation earlier in the game where a bunt could have yielded a run. I'd take my chances of getting a bunt down and then getting Podsednik in on a grounder than trying to hit off of Zack Greinke, who faced 31 batters and only allowed 6 hits. 6/31 is a percentage of 19.4. There was a 19.4% chance of getting a hit off of him today and Ozzie had Lillibridge swing away with nobody out and Podsednik at second base, knowing he has a hard time making contact? I thought Ozzie loved small ball... Then it's a no brainer whether or not Pods should have bunted in the 8th because it could have been a 3-1 game instead of a 3-0 game. And there goes your rule about how you should not give up an out if you're down more than 2.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2009 -> 07:38 PM) Why in the hell would you bunt with 2 on when you're down 3 against CY Greinke? That's a good way to get fired. Because I'd rather score a run than none. There's also the possibility of Podsednik beating out a bunt. Granted, he was 2-2 before that point and swinging away wouldn't have been the worst idea. There was another instance today when Pods lead off with a double and Lillibridge then struck out. Hello Ozzie? Bunt? Lillibridge can't hit for his life and you have him swinging the bat? Ugh...
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ May 4, 2009 -> 07:37 PM) Yeah, so we can get more players who are fast with little hitting ability!! That's especially useful in the summer at the Cell. Why is it always all or nothing? Whenever somebody says they don't like this team because it's inconsistent and full of power hitting macho men, the counter argument is always that if we ditch that, we would be a team full of Scott Podsedniks and Juan Pierres. When did anybody ever say that we should start being a team of frail, skinny, base stealers rather than a team of all or nothing home run hitters? You look for balance. You look for guys who can hit for power and also hit well when the situation arises. Not guys who swing for the fences every time they get a chance to. That's what we are right now. We either hit the s*** out of the ball or we don't hit it at all. We don't move runners over when we can and we can't hit well with RISP. WE could have scored three runs tonight had we known how to move runners along. Unfortunately, we can't even do that. I'll give the team the benefit of the doubt since it's injured and we have to stick Brent Lillibridge out there every night, but tonight was embarrassing. Last night was embarrassing, especially on national TV. Ozzie will have to start ranting sometime about how we have one of the worst offenses in the AL while we have some of the best power hitters in the league.
  22. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ May 4, 2009 -> 07:36 PM) Hopefully if this keeps up all year KW will break up this home run or nothing softball team..... Or maybe we should just move the fences back some and that'll end it for good.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 4, 2009 -> 07:34 PM) At least Nix got another hit. Why didn't Ozzie at least bunt with Pods in the 8th? He's probably the only one on the team who can do it well. WHAT HAPPENED TO SMALL BALL WHEN YOU SHOULD USE IT? I was telling my friend, who I was b****ing to, that we need to bunt here. I don't care if we would only get two runs on a single, I want a freaking bunt. Turns out the bunt would have been more useful than Pods swinging away...
  24. I hate this team. It sucks. It's injured. It can't hit. It wastes good pitching performances. We have the second worst offense in the AL. Carlos Quentin is trying too hard. We don't move runners even when we get them on. Brent Lillibridge can't hit. My God, this team is a waste of energy right now.
