  1. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 10:05 PM) David Eckstein also wins rings. Because he's not the only one that always sucks in the playoffs for the Yankees? I understand the whole "he's making 5 billion dollars a year so he should produce" argument, but when you get little to no help from your teammates, it tends to be hard. Anyways, Alex Rodriguez plays 3B, doesn't need to be traded to be motivated, and he annually puts up better regular season numbers than Manny Ramirez. Alex Rodriguez is easily more valuable than Manny Ramirez. David Eckstein also won a WS MVP.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 16, 2008 -> 10:31 AM) Apparently you didnt read the article above. It states he didnt have the curve BEFORE he learned the cutter, when in actuality his curve was his out pitch all through the minors. It was a plus pitch. Ah, Ok. Then that's obviously false.
  3. I saw a lot of maturation from Danks this season. Earlier in the year, he was effective through 5-6 innings but had thrown way too many pitches. This went on until about June, but then he started being a little more economical and started going 6 innings more consistently and at times 7 or 8 innings, which is why he started to get more wins towards the middle of the year. Unfortunately, he got tired at the end of August and really started to suck for a good two weeks. He got on track at the end of the year and I think we really saw the mature Danks in his last two starts against the Rays and Twins. He conserved his pitches very well and went deep in both of those games. I don't know if he's an elite pitcher, I think he still has some developing to do.
  4. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 15, 2008 -> 11:24 AM) Uh what? Wasnt Danks voted having the best curve in the texas system before we got him? What are they talking about his lack of a curve? He doesn't have the curve anymore because he throws the cutter more. Steve Stone talks about this a lot. When you go to one kind of a breaking pitch (cutter isn't a breaking pitch, but it has a slider-like movement), it's very hard to master another. Gavin and Javy are two pitchers who can throw both a curve ball and a slider at the same time effectively. However, most pitchers can only throw one consistently. In HS, Garland had a great curve. After he got to the Majors, he used the slider alot more and the curve gradually went away. The same transformation has happened to Danks. You rarely see him throw a curve when he pitches now, let alone get it over.

  6. QUOTE (Reddy @ Oct 13, 2008 -> 05:30 PM) frankly, the most interesting thing there is the Lexi in CF idea... what do people think? I mean, if we can find another MI then actually i'd be interested in seeing how that worked out - but i love Lexi's D in the infield. Alexei's defense on the infield is way too valuable to have him play center. Plus, shortstops and second basemen don't just grow on trees. The possibility of the Sox acquiring a new SS and 2B this off-season is remote.
  7. 35 is next after Frank retires (which could be next year). Then it'll probably be 13. Then in about 10 years, 14 should be retired for Konerko.
  8. QUOTE (MAX @ Oct 12, 2008 -> 09:42 AM) Awesome video. Not to criticize but I was simply hoping to see that play by john danks where he beats the runner to home with the ball and tags him out. Or that liner he snared in LA to start the DP. Yeah, I forgot about both of those. It's a bit too late now though.
  9. QUOTE (Yoda @ Oct 12, 2008 -> 07:56 PM) Boy, you look back and remember how bad the weather was the first month and a half. Now, Oct 12, it's a happy 86 degrees in Chicago. Awesome video. Not to be critical, but I feel the Journey song is a 2005 thing and should only be associated with that team. But that's just me. Most of the clips during that Journey song were after the trading deadline. The Sox looked like they were going to the playoffs, so I thought it was time for some believin'. Lol.
  10. I made another video, just for the hell of it. This one's only 1:25 and matches the music in the background (literally). It's more like a music video... He's a White Sox
  11. QUOTE (Felix @ Oct 12, 2008 -> 11:21 AM) Great video until the song when the players names were being listed. Oh well, can't be perfect, right? Hey, it met the criteria... I wanted to thank the Sox for the memories.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 11, 2008 -> 07:22 PM) Excellent video. As much as we sometimes b**** about being a softball team, wow those homers are exciting. Call me a fool, but I still think CQ mighta led us to greatness in the postseason. It sure makes one hell of a highlight reel.
  13. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Oct 11, 2008 -> 04:42 PM) Soak it all in. I dont think you want to pout about it Great video by the way. I didnt realize there were so many walkoffs this year The walk-offs are what made this season so awesome.
  14. I compiled 30 of the greatest moments this year into one video so I can soak it all in. Enjoy Click Here for the Video
  15. Only 1 vote for Santana? Come on people...the guy led the league in ERA at 2.53. He was also the only Mets starter that was good at the end of the season. He was also robbed of at least 5 wins because the Mets don't have a bullpen.
  16. She has no right to tell you when to cheer.
  17. ^ I wish it was 2005 all over again.
  18. Maybe we need one of those 6 run innings we had back in Minnesota.
  19. Whether we win or not. These things need to happen... 1. Vazquez - traded 2. Cabrera - let go of 3. Swisher - traded 4. Thome - bought out Put Dye at DH and sign some guy from free agency. Trade for a pitcher or sign somebody not named Garland. Hope Linebrink can pitch next year.
  20. Our team doesn't want to hit. Zach Jackson absolutely sucks. But we can't hit off of him whatsoever.
  21. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Sep 27, 2008 -> 07:32 PM) I have to ask again... will this team ever win another game? No.
  22. QUOTE (The Critic @ Sep 27, 2008 -> 06:20 PM) That ball was hit in the right place. This inning turned around when Vazquez started trying to nibble with that horrible low-and-away curve that never catches the corner. Fall behind in the count, get forced to throw a meatball, give up a hit, repeat. It was a slider. I wonder who called that.
