  1. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 10, 2008 -> 11:11 AM) http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...sp&c_id=cws Entering Wednesday's game, Chicago's No. 8 hitters led the Major Leagues in average (.281), home runs (21) and RBIs (62) Joe Crede bats 8th most of the time, that's why...
  2. J.D. Drew is having back problems. Mr. Glass has reappeared everybody! Even if Jermaine doesn't win, he'll take Ortiz's spot. They better not have Giambi take it instead of him.
  3. The Tigers don't have a bullpen outside of Zumaya, 'nuff said.
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 03:36 PM) I'd love to see Detroit win 3/4 or even a split would work. If the Tigers won 3/4, we were 3.5 up tomorrow, we win our final game in KC, and we swept the Rangers, we'd be 6.5 up on Minnesota and 8 up on Detroit. If they split, we were 3.5 up tomorrow, we final our final game in KC, and we swept the Rangers, we'd be 5.5 up on Minnesota and 9 up on Detroit. I'd probably prefer this more one. Anything above a 5 game divisional lead at the all-star game is great. I'll settle for anywhere from 4.5 to 6.5 over the Twins. Hopefully, it's in between, like you said. If we end up sweeping Kansas City, worst case scenario, we're still in first by the break.
  5. QUOTE (Maxwell @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 04:30 PM) What's worse than a few potential blown saves is this might hurt liney's confidence. Yea, him saying "I stink" yesterday didn't make me real happy. Maybe it's time for a nice talk with Coop.
  6. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 03:32 PM) Im guessing that Liriano returns soon. He has been pretty good at AAA lately. So was Felix Diaz back in 2003.
  7. Wow, that was a trouncing. It was enough to put the Red Sox's run differential over ours by 2 runs. They're at 91, we're at 89. Could this be the beginning of the pitching slump that we saw when the Twins invaded the Cell and got crushed by 25 runs in a 4 games series? We'll see. Maybe the Tigers will come roaring back this weekend.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 12:16 PM) How do you know it affected Contreras' performance? He was upset a friend is gone. So what. Have you ever had a good friend move away? Even if you know its coming, the day it happens kind of sucks. Not like he's dead or something. Pablo Ozuna is still alive, visit him in the offseason if you have to.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 02:10 PM) Some of you guys act like Dotel is really good. He might be worth a try, but he's no Rivera. Committee sounds good to me. He's not that good, he's converted 82 saves out of 116 opportunities in his career. That's 71%. He even had 36 saves one year with Houston and Oakland, he also blew 8 saves though. Right now, Linebrink has converted 25% of his saves. So, would you like 71% or 25%?
  10. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 01:56 PM) WHAT YOU SAY? PHOTOSHOP!
  11. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 10:21 AM) For everyone feeling this way, then lets never again say that athletes care only about money, and that they are cold and have no care for the team or the game. We suddenly approve of the Maggs Ordonez and Albert Belle philosophy. Cool. On top of all this, did Contreras even really speak out to the media? Did he get himself quoted?? Not from what I can tell. Cowley, pretty much a sniveling pud from what he writes in his Twitters, ran this thing for NO APPARENT REASON. Newsflash, guy gets fired, his coworkers feel bad. It's happening in 250 offices downtown right now, and it should be no shock and no front page news when it happens in the White Sox office. Yes, I know. However, what's off the field needs to stay off the field. Don't bring that baggage with you to the mound. OC didn't let his phone call to the official scorer screw him up. Hell, he's done much better since then.
  12. Dotel's the only other guy with closing experience, so yes. He wasn't real good to say the least, but anything's better than Linebrink right now. I was so pissed last night that I just wanted the Royals to walk us off after they tied the game. I couldn't take anymore of that crap.
  13. Seriously, Did Jose secretly marry Pablo after he divorced his wife? Because I don't know how you can be so damn upset over a DFA. Things happen all the time in the Majors, guys get dealt and released, Jose needs to deal with it.
  14. Huston Street for 10 maple bats sounds good.
  15. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 8, 2008 -> 04:31 PM) It is a horrible trade by the A's if Harden can stay healthy. Problem is, he can't. Gaudin could be pretty good in the NL though either way. I have no idea if Josh Donaldson is any good, but giving up Patterson and Murton shouldn't haunt them, but Gallagher could be a very good pitcher. This trade could go in a lot of different directions, but it seems like an odd trade by Oakland. I wonder if something is wrong with Harden, between this deal and the fact that Harden looked really bad on Sunday. It's a big risk by the Cubs, but I guess when you haven't won in a century you might as well try it. Overall, this is a risk for both teams, but could be looked at as a risk worth taking for both teams. This trade will be proclaimed as the steal of the century by the media, but really it could go either way. I'm very surprised and not sure what I think right now to be honest. Harden's struggled in his last two starts. I had also read that he's having a "dead arm period" before his White Sox start. Maybe Billy Beane does have something up his sleeve.
  16. I think the Cubs are definite NLC favorites now. They just got Harden...
  17. The Cubs will always be the favorites. SI had them winning the World Series a couple of weeks into the season!
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 8, 2008 -> 09:18 AM) Its been discussed here, in an indirect way. Today, the Trib published an off day article, analyzing the case - is the 2008 team better than the 2005 team? Linky. This team's better on paper by a long shot. More homers, more runs, better ERA. But, how are those Detroit Tigers playing? How bout them Mariners? Doing things on paper is fun, but baseball is played, not calculated.
  19. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 8, 2008 -> 09:29 AM) Well those geniuses were spot on last year. Who could have forcasted the breakouts of Q and Danks? We were predicted to go 78-84 this year and finish 3rd. With a negative run differential. That's a good laugh.

    OZUNA DFA

QUOTE (north side chi sox fan @ Jul 8, 2008 -> 01:05 PM) OZUNA DFA per 670 the Score This most likely means Bobby is fine and won't be going on the DL. YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD...YES! I love Liney, but the 9th inning just isn't his thing.
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2008 -> 04:18 PM) I think Crede could actually be good for the home run derby. He apparently has a lot of BP power. Joe loves pulling the ball. As a right hander in Yankee stadium, that might not bode so well with the huge alley way in left center.
  22. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 7, 2008 -> 02:14 PM) i hope not. His swing seems to be kind of touchy, the last thing I want to see is CQ mess up his swing trying to go nuts in the HR Derby ala Bobby Abreu You read my mind.
  23. Depending on how Jose does to end the year, he might be the odd man out. Plus, Javy likes wetting his pants on the big stage.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 7, 2008 -> 12:45 PM) I dont know if anyone has seen this guy who posts on youtube, he does every team's batting stances current and some past. He's pretty accurate with alot of them. It's more exaggerated than accurate IMO.
  25. The Brewers rotation is going to be one of the top in the NL now with Sheets, Sabathia, and Parra as their top 3. Not to mention Suppan and Bush aren't all that bad for #4 and #5.
