  1. Kahnle might be proof that Drew Thorpe could be at least be a good reliever one day.
  2. Clay Holmes trying to blow it again.
  3. While Hill wasn't good on the Sox he also got BABIP'd to death while maintaining decent peripherals. He also wasn't even the worst guy in the Sox bullpen when he got DFA'd. Him going to the Yankees and being good really isn't that surprising.
  4. Offense is down across the league. If you want to use your favorite stat to measure that, the league average BA was just .243, down 5 points from last year. It just so happens the Yankees have 2 guys in Soto and Judge who are so good by themselves that they don't need a bunch of great hitters around them for the Yankees to score.
  5. I don't really see a MLB team taking off in Austin. Everyone here is either an Astros or Rangers fan. Or they just moved here from somewhere else recently and don't have a huge attachment to Austin. It's one thing for Austin FC to sell out a 20k capacity stadium playing once a week. It's another to expect people to change fan affiliation and get 30,000+ fans every night during the summer. Plus you have to build an indoor stadium because nobody is braving the 100+ degree heat to go watch baseball. Just see what happened with the BallPark at Arlington.
  6. I think the Yankees might actually have been better off not hitting those homers in the 8th. That's a huge momentum shift for the Guardians.
  7. Ohtani finally got a hit with nobody in scoring position.
  8. I also hate them for blowing a 3-1 lead to the Cubs.
  9. That's a series changing type of home run.
  10. The whole Cleveland bullpen was more or less unhittable in the regular season. Regression to the mean sucks. Clase especially. He had a 0.6 ERA in the regular season, but has blown 2 games in the playoffs.
  11. I had to Google if Dave Stewart had any substantial money. Turns out he doesn't.
  12. It's the only blip these past 2 weeks. It's the complete opposite of last year, where we'd look really good on scripted plays, but fall apart afterwards. It's weird because I remember seeing that Waldron scripted some good plays last year to open games. You saw Caleb start going up-tempo that 3rd drive and that's when things changed. Maybe they need to start games that way.
  13. Caleb good. I like to convince myself that he simply didn't see the safety on the pick he threw. Also, Kmet's progression from soft and awful to a legitimately good TE (and longsnapper) is really nice to see.
  14. I'm surprised it wasn't Hackett.
  15. Weren't the Sox looking at Fetter back in 2021 as well to replace Coop? I remember Hahn was interested. I'd imagine had Hinch gotten the job here, we would have hired Fetter too.
  16. I feel like Hinch has always had the Astros' number since leaving. Good for the Tigers. They actually got here because they were innovative with their injured pitching staff. I'm not sure how good they'll be in a longer series, but a short series like this one really suited them.
  17. 2021 was so long ago that the AL triple crown award winner (Tarik Skubal) was actually not very good back then.
  18. Braves are really flirting with losing this game. They only scored 1 off a guy with a 8.5 ERA.
  19. This is a crazy game. Braves took the lead back and then Lindor homers in the 9th to put the Mets up.
  20. Braves blew a 3 run lead in the 8th. Now they have to start Sale game 2.
  21. If they don't make it, their collapse, while not as bad as the Twins, will look actually worse from a playoff odds perspective. They had a 92% chance to make it a week ago.
  22. If the double header is split tomorrow, Arizona is out. If either team sweeps the DH, Arizona is in.
