  1. Yes because college is honestly a different game than the NFL sometimes. The talent gap between teams is at times gigantic. Fields looked great in college because he had a great team around him so he had a ton of time to throw and receivers who could get separation. When you take that away from him in the NFL, he doesn't look so good. You can even say the same thing about Penix last night. He had time to throw against Texas but didn't against Michigan and the difference was night and day. He's way more likely to see the scenarios he saw last night in the NFL compared to what happened in the CFP semi-final. Williams has never had a great supporting cast at USC, especially this year. There's maybe one other top 100 draft pick talent on that USC offense. And their defense was non-existent so there was a ton of pressure on him to carry that USC team. Some people also seem to think that Lincoln Riley's offense is way too simplistic, but there's 3 recent examples of Riley QBs doing pretty well for themselves in the NFL. Would it be disappointing if Williams is just a slightly taller Kyler Murray or another Baker Mayfield? Probably, yeah. But I think the idea that he's gonna bust and be terrible is pretty unrealistic.
  2. Yeah sounds like he's gone. McCarthy said this is the last time they'll play together. He hasn't declared for the draft yet...
  3. Penix got spooked by pressure. Missed a lot of open throws he would have made last week against basically no pressure. With his mobility being an issue and him being a 6th year player, this is gonna decrease his draft stock by a lot. PFF had him mocked 8th to Atlanta in their latest mock. Safe to say that's not gonna happen.
  4. I took a look at the available free agents and draft class. Bears will have about $54 million in cap space if they tag Jaylon Johnson and cut Jackson and Whitehair. That includes the salaries for their 6 draft picks. The Bears have needs at QB, WR, EDGE, C, FS, OG, DI. This draft is deep at QB, WR, OT, and CB. This free agency class is fairly deep at EDGE, S, and DI. Based on that the Bears should be targeting QB, WR, and OL help in the draft and sign a bunch of defenders in free agency. They have the cap space to make a few splashes.
  5. Pats and Commanders will most likely take QBs in the top 3. Atlanta has #8 and could trade back to take Penix. Raiders are also in position to take Penix at 13. How good or bad Penix looks tomorrow could determine how much trade interest there is for Fields. Geno is better than Fields and I think they have him signed for at least another year before they can cut bait. Denver is a possibility as well, but I doubt Payton would want a Fields type QB. They just got rid of Wilson and they hated him for taking sacks. Fields is even worse than him about that.
  6. Smith got fired in Atlanta. I wonder what that might mean for Fields' trade value.
  7. I think if he repeats his performance from the semi finals against a much better defense in Michigan, there's a good chance he's a lock at QB4 in this draft. Which might be a top 15 pick. He might be the closest comp to Stroud in this draft. Where he was criticized for his inability to improvise and throw under pressure and on the run, but proved otherwise on the big stage in the playoffs.
  8. Honestly he really didn't outside of Moore. But let's not pretend the Texans had a top 10 WR room after Dell got hurt. You also have to attribute a lot of Collins' and Dell's success to Stroud. Collins was very mediocre his first 2 seasons. Dell was a 3rd rounder. None of those 2 were considered good before Stroud came along.
  9. He seemed closer to what he was in 2021 in terms of his running. His running ability was magical last year. He'd lose a whole defense in a few strides. The burst didn't seem like it was there this year.
  10. Literally all the cons of Fields coming out of college have manifested themselves. Holds onto the ball, slow release, no anticipation, poor pocket presence and awareness. And he really hasn't meaningfully improved on any of it in the past 3 years. You just gotta cut bait at some point.
  11. Their line outside of Tunsil isn't very good either. Stroud is just a better QB. Better QBs get rid of the ball quicker and makes an entire offensive line look competent.
  12. Gotta say I'm glad the fan base seems to want to clean house now. Not that it should matter, but the whole run it back vs. clean house discussion was getting nauseating when it seemed pretty obvious what the right thing to do was all along.
  13. So you get the Packers backed up to the 1 after a nice play on first down and then you sit back in zone and only rush 4 on the next play?
  14. The fact that no Bears really took a huge issue with the late hit on Fields really makes it seem like the team doesn't care.
  15. Jenkins is the best player on this line and he just showed no effort there.
  16. Haha, the guy who got hit late has a concussion, but we definitely didn't throw a flag...fucking imbeciles.
  17. If the NFL is going to protect QBs, you can't let them having their head bounce off the turf while they're sliding. Ridiculous.
  18. Bears getting just about every break so far this game and they're still down 8 with seemingly no shot of actually scoring a TD.
  19. How the hell do the Packers receivers make some of these catches.
  20. Holding penalty negated it, but Fields had a easy TD there if he threw it a bit higher.
