Maybe some old timers here can tell us how exhilarating it was when Jerry signed Albert Belle.
-
Remember when Jerry balked at $300 million and just 5 years later, we're getting $600 million deals.
-
Today I feel Canadian.
-
I feel like the Dodgers are too smart to sign a guy like Snell to a huge deal, whose peripherals are nowhere near as good as his numbers were this year. In both of his CY years, his peripherals lagged behind his ERA quite a bit and we saw how that played out in between his 2 CY awards.
-
Or trade for Cease
-
Remember when the Blue Jays thought they had Michael Brantley signed a few years ago and then he re-signed with the Astros a few hours later?
-
I really did not see the Jays as the top player for Ohtani going into this. I saw they're offering him $600 million.

If you go and look at similarity scores for Yoan on Baseball Reference, Candelario is 2nd on the list. Candelario has actually been more productive since 2019, which for a player with the prospect pedigree of Moncada, is pretty sad.
-
Candelario is one year removed from being terrible. I can see why teams would be reluctant to give him a ton of money.

Rule 5 Draft - Sox take LHP Shane Drohan from Boston

Oh so this is why they didn't pick up TA's option. -
I don't think I've ever seen a QB struggle so hard to throw for 1000 yards in a full CFB season.
-
Texas was also up by 3 scores in 2 of those games. They can play with anyone they just take their foot off the pedal once they have a comfortable lead. I think they've kind of corrected that with how badly they destroyed Texas Tech and OSU the past 2 games.
-
They didn't play anyone outside of Alabama, Missouri, and Ole Miss. And they lost to the best of those 3. Sucks for them but maybe schedule harder out of conference games. Alabama did and it didn't hurt them even when they lost against Texas.
-
It sure sounds like Giolito didn't want to trash the Sox. He's a nice guy and probably didn't want to burn any bridges. But I'm not sure that means he necessarily wants to sign here.

They really should be 6-6 with competent coaching. They lost 2 games where they held a 98%+ win expectancy. I'm kind of afraid that if the defense keeps playing this well, the guys at the top of the org might think they should keep Eberflus. -
Lynn is cooked. His issue was homers, not the defense behind him. He gave up the most homers in baseball last year and that didn't stop when he got traded to the Dodgers.

Win would have been nice, but terrible in the grand scheme of things. A win would have knocked you out of the top 5 in draft position. This loss was pretty much squarely on the coaching staff. They had ample opportunities to go up by 3 scores, instead they kicked 3 field goals because they were content with 3 points and the play calls on 3rd down telegraphed it. The defensive head coach's defense then let Detroit cut through his defense without any resistance and gave up 15 points in 5 minutes. It's hard to blame the players when you were content not scoring more points, thinking your defense was good enough. This and the Broncos game, and to an extent, the Washington game were all great examples of just how bad this coaching staff is at playing with a big lead. They get complacent on defense and run extremely safe and low yardage plays on offense just to allow the opponents back in the game. That's not winning football. -
Good way to have a combined batting average of .400
-
Yeah Lopez and Soroka were most likely non-tenders.
-
Lopez has been worthless with the bat but his defense and base running have made him a 1 WAR player each of the past 2 seasons. That's something at least. He can't be any worse than TA or the awful 2B the Sox have trotted our there the past 2 years.
-
On one hand, I'm glad I no longer have to watch Bummer get BABIP'd to death. But now I have to root for Nicky Lopez to BABIP the other team 4-5 times every game. Ugh.
-
He can still do it 14 times a year for the Tigers. And maybe 5 Tigers fans might know where Naperville is.

He's holding onto the ball forever and making terrible panic throws. It's like Fields without any talent. -
The fact that DeJong had a higher wRC+ than TA after DeJong went 12 for 93 after being traded is...telling.
-
This actually seems like a good hire, WTF?
