  1. This actually seems like a good hire, WTF?
  2. Look at what the Brewers were providing him. They're a cheaper version of the Sox, except they had a competent FO and manager.
  3. The Chicago White SoX, presented by X, formerly known as Twitter. I'm pretty sure if Elon bought the Sox, the first thing he'd do is fire 75% of the team's employees. He'd also just retweet stuff from ChiSoxFanMike with "interesting" and "concerning". Alas, this is still an improvement over the current ownership.
  4. Just don't let him start a team fantasy football league.
  5. Look at the Rangers' offensive numbers last year and compare them to this year. 7 of the 9 regulars on this World Series team played regularly in 2022. The only 2 who didn't are Jung and Carter. The Rangers are a very similar team this year from a position player standpoint. They improved their pitching through free agency this year, but their improvements on offense came from Seager and Semien having better seasons and Heim, Taveras, Garver, and Garcia improving a lot.
  6. This Rangers team had a lot of the same guys on offense last year and they were nowhere near this good. Bochy and his staff definitely played a role in them improving. Now imagine if we could have taken that and put it towards the 2021 White Sox... I don't think I can ever forgive JR for hiring La Russa.
  7. Now that he's won a World Series in an odd-numbered year, yes.
  8. He wasn't actually good until 2019. He was pretty mediocre for the A's until Ron Washington taught him how to defense. Then he learned that elevating and pulling the ball = homers and he's been pretty good ever since.
  9. 11-0 on the road in the playoffs. That might never happen again.
  10. Just hire Harbaugh and give him the reins. Get rid of Poles. The guy has no idea what he's doing. This whole Sweat and Johnson situation is a gigantic mess. Sweat said today that they haven't even discussed an extension and he wants to "consider everything around him" before signing anything. Word was that Atlanta had a trade worked out for Sweat with an extension in place, but the Bears outbid them at the last minute. So there is a chance that Sweat won't sign an extension and you'd have to tag either him or Johnson. So you can't retain both. Johnson also doesn't seem like he wants to sign an extension. So now 2 of your best players on defense seem like they don't want to be here and you can only keep one of them. Whoever you don't tag has a ton of leverage in extension negotiations and can just rake you over the coals. You'll end up pissing off the guy you tag. Good job Poles.
  11. Getting the Rangers to use Leclerc seems like a minor win for the Diamondbacks in this scenario. You're never going to win a game you were down 11-1 in, but making the other team use their closer is at least something.
  12. Rough for the Rangers. Not having Adolis might cost them the series. Once again, a right fielder screws the Rangers in the World Series (this really isn't his fault though).
  13. He's a pure rental. And maybe there were some real medical concerns about him so he doesn't make as much sense for the Bears. But there's no way Sweat is worth a pick that's 50 selections better than Young. Both are going to hit free agency. Poles got fleeced...again. His trade deadline deals have both been huge overpays. It makes no sense to me that this guy refuses to overpay for FAs and even pay his own players fair market value, but he goes all out on trade deadline deals with draft capital.
  14. The Velus pick and the Claypool trade were already awful enough for me.
  15. lmao, Bagent was basically telling the whole line he's gonna hard count at the line and they still didn't get it.
  16. His lack of zip on the ball is so evident on outside throws. Rookies make mistakes and he made a few tonight. But his lack of velocity on outside throws really gives him a slim margin of error. I'm glad they tried to showcase his ability to throw deep a few times, but that really isn't his biggest weakness.
  17. And he wanted 20+ million for an extension... I know he's only 21, but he really hasn't improved over the last few years to think he's gonna start anytime soon. Coby White at least improved in a few areas last year (finally).
  18. Wacha really doesn't belong in that group. But yeah, the Cardinals have let a lot go in the past 5 years or so that they really should not have. Weird turn for an org that usually doesn't miss on trades and prospects.
  19. I was just telling my wife they were pitching around him...then they throw him a sinker in the zone.
  20. Both teams took turns doing 20-0 runs in the first half. Super weird game. DeRozan got them back into it, but Caruso won them this game. They still lose without his steal at the end of regulation.
  21. Garcia stealing there was actually dumb since they can just walk Garver to pitch to Hedges.
  22. Seager is so good. He hit that same pitch out against the Astros in game 7. It's not even a bad pitch, especially against a left handed hitter.
  23. The Rangers and Diamondbacks pretty much just proved that spending big on your bullpen is not a wise allocation of your assets. Arizona's bullpen was trash until September. Texas didn't care about their bullpen coming into the year and didn't upgrade it until the trade deadline with Chapman.
  24. Hard to believe the Astros and Phillies had Cave and Singleton take such high leverage ABs that decided their fate.
