  1. I feel like the Tigers would have to eat most of that contract for us to be interested.
  2. That'd be some petty s%*# from Cohen. So JR, you didn't want me to own a team...so attached is what I'm willing to pay in luxury taxes alone...
  3. The Yaz and Tucker homers in game 3 did feel very very cheap. Leury hitting it 435 also seems sus now.
  4. He got hurt in game 4. It's not like he was already hurt in game 1.
  5. Is a ball change enough to have games go from blow outs to low scoring nailbitters? Also, wouldn't MLB want the Red Sox to win since they're the bigger market?
  6. You think MLB used a different ball for certain starts?
  7. Bear in mind that the Sox probably faced the best version of that Astros team. The Sox didn't hit that poorly outside of McCullers' starts. And Astros pitching after he got hurt wasn't exactly good outside of a couple of starts against the Red Sox.
  8. I'm pretty sure Jerry would have a heart attack at the mere sight of a $111 million luxury tax bill.
  9. Crazy to think we can have Segura instead of Leury if they had any kind of restraint in free agency last year. That homer Leury hit in the ALDS probably ended up costing us $15 million.
  10. They're the same type of hitters. Lots of contact, not a lot of walks, swings at bad pitches, not a whole lot of power. Segura hits the ball a little harder and gets more singles cause he hits the ball on the ground more. Their Baseball Savant pages look pretty similar. I'm willing to bet if you aged Segura another 2 years he'd look exactly like Harrison did last year.
  11. The more I look at Segura, the more he reminds me of a slightly better version of Josh Harrison. And I don't like that...
  12. Apparently the surgery would have only taken 4-5 weeks to heal, yet he chose not to have it. It would have been a 10 minute surgery too. I know back injuries are very complicated (I have bulging discs too), but I really don't understand why he felt the need to come back so soon when he had a dead leg from the herniated disc. We'd still have Reese McGuire had he not rushed his way back.
  13. Scherzer was also pretty awful at the end of last season. I know he had an injury, but that's usually what happens to guys nearing 40...they get hurt more often.
  14. Especially with 3B being blocked for the foreseeable future.
  15. Holy s%*# Cohen. Mets gotta be paying $500 million for the team this year now right? After all the luxury taxes?
  16. Yeah they need to dump one of Kelly, Graveman, and Hendriks so they can get some money to either sign a 4th OFer or 2B. I wonder how likely it is we can trade Graveman's contract for someone like Jorge Mateo.
  17. He had negative OAA numbers in very small samples. If you get him to play 2B in a more or less full-time role, my bet is that he's gonna be at least a -5 run defender there.
  18. That's by far the largest sample in any season he's had at 2B.
  19. That and he was pretty awful at it when he was with Oakland in 2019.
  20. Profar would be a nice addition, but I think he ends up getting more than Drury. He also doesn't really play 2B anymore.
  21. I feel like once we get statcast metrics for all the minor league games, it'll be a lot easier to objectively evaluate prospects. I know Charlotte currently has a system in place, but it's only at certain minor league parks and the numbers aren't aggregated. You can only see them on a game-by-game basis.
  22. Compared to what other teams are paying for at that price, yeah. But Ottavino is also pretty old.
  23. They can always have Baty play 3rd and slide Escobar over to 2nd.
