  1. I worked at a Deli and we sold the Best's Kosher salami and bologna in both regular and reduced fat.. and they were definitely of our top sellers.. sad to hear it leaving!
  2. Food: Bobby Jenks.. that man would DOMINATE a wings competition at BW3.. Beer: Okay, this might be a curveball... but Jim Thome.. Mr. Incredible.. and you KNOW Mr. Incredible was a beer man. Hard Liquor: Carlos Quentin.. something about him screams hardcore teenage drinker, I don't know what. Some different choices.. I'm glad this wasn't a poll.
  3. Honestly, I respect the s*** out of Contreras, and wouldn't mind him coming back in some role. I know I gave him crap, but the guy had balls. I was so encouraged by his start after the injury, and was so disappointed when he got hurt.. I just don't know what his role could be.
  4. s***, let's trade buehrle and have a rotation of garcia, pedro, bartolo, danks, and marquez!!
  5. I really hope we don't have him starting next year at SS... I am so sick of him after just one year.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 19, 2008 -> 05:29 PM) If Hall can play 1b, I'm sure Varitek can handle some 2b. That made me laugh, nice one! But seriously, I don't think we need a guy like Hinske at all for a lot of reasons many of you have repeated. Just my two cents.
  7. QUOTE (scenario @ Nov 7, 2008 -> 06:49 PM) Somebody needs to help me understand how a team gets better by trading its best relief pitcher... one of the best relief pitchers in baseball the last 3 years. In the periods where our bullpen turned to crap the last few years, he was consistently the only guy who could get people out. And he's young and still cheap. So... why is this even remotely a good idea? I'm skeptical, but open-minded and willing to be persuaded by a good argument. I completely agree. If there is some kind of "blow me away deal" then I'm all for it, but it has to be THAT good, because I just don't see trading a top-notch closer when we all know how horrible it was to have people like Billy Koch closing for us..
  8. I really, really don't want to trade Jenks. I just don't believe some people think closers are a dime a dozen. I say keep him til the end.
  9. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 06:25 PM) So whats next years big pickup. What over the hill aging superstar are we picking up for the stretch run. We are basically the reverse twins. They pick up their old men for the beginning of the season, and shed them. We pick them up for the stretch run. Both strategies are bad. Wait for it.... Barry Bonds. I call it right now.
  10. Wow. Dye and Griffey just absolutely embarrassed themselves that inning. Two horrible K's.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 06:15 PM) If you can't recognize how much more talented (that's what happens when you have so many high first rounders over the years) and quick and efficient the Rays are, then I don't know what to say... Yeah, Gavin picked a bad day to lose his command, but he's had a great season, overall. It's almost like you can't find anything to cheer about or be optimistic about. Frustrating yes, but trying be a Cubs' fan. It has nothing to do with me not understanding the Rays are better. I know they are. I didn't really think we had much of a chance. But thats not what I was talking about. I wasn't saying I'm frustrated because we didn't win the World Series. I just meant, overall, the season was so frustrating to me.
  12. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 06:09 PM) Are you serious? Before this year, we were supposed to suck. Then, we played the whole month of September except 2 or 3 games without Quentin, the MVP. Did you really expect another ring? No, I didn't expect another ring. But I can't tell you how many times I watched these games and just got so frustrated. I think we could have done so much better. But losing Quentin, and Contreras was frustrating. Nick Swisher sucking was frustrating. Kong and Thome batting sub .250 was frustrating. Joe Crede finally hitting again, but playing the worst D of his career was frustrating (and then he got hurt). Having to watch Juan Uribe play half the year was frustrating. Just my opinion I guess.
  13. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 06:06 PM) Well, guys, a divisional championship and a playoff appearance is awesome. It has been a great season. I think this has been one of the most frustrating seasons I can remember in a while. This and 2006 I guess, but I'll give the edge to this year.
  14. Thanks for '08 Floyd. All your almost no-nos will always make me smile. But you blew it big time in the only game that matters.. oh well. At least you got some experience.
  15. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 05:45 PM) i'm so pissed about that f***ing homerun AJ's or Upton's? Both I guess.

  18. Sonnanstine doesn't seem to have that overwhelming stuff he had when we played him in Tampa earlier. We should get to him eventually. I just hope Gavin doesn't lose it.
  19. This team sucks. I'm turning the game off. 10 hits, for 2 f***ing runs. What a f***ing JOKE!
  20. Good job stranding a million baserunners White Sox. You really wanted this game.
