  1. If any other boozers were wondering, the patio party's have Bud/BL/Modelo now instead of Miller which nearly brought me to tears of joy.
  2. QUOTE (scs787 @ May 1, 2017 -> 10:29 PM) Just out of curiosity, I went back and looked at some of the saints draft history as that is where Pace comes from and here is some fun stuff when it comes to small schools. Arkansas Pine Bluff Regina Towson Bloomsburg Hofstra Ya know who went to those schools? Terron Armstead- Pro Bowl LT Akiem Hicks- Really good football player as we know Jermon Bushrod- 2x Pro Bowl LT Jahari Evans- 6x pro bowl/4x all pro Marques Colston- 6 1000+ yard seasons. They also have a history of drafting a guy with limited tape.....A guy named Jimmy Graham only caught 17 balls his one year of college football. He was pretty good right? I, too am trying to talk myself off the ledge of this potentially setting the Bears back another 5 years on top of the original 5.
  3. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 25, 2017 -> 03:09 PM) I mean, I believe they will spend some money but I doubt it will all be on one player. If things go near-perfectly, they should have an absurdly low payroll in 2019 + a great young core. Signing a 27 year old to a mega-deal or getting creative and doing a short-term/huge per year + opt outs wouldn't be that crazy I don't think. All of that of course assumes the team doesn't have 6+ glaring holes that need filling like the last decade of "all in" attempts have been.
  4. QUOTE (hi8is @ Apr 25, 2017 -> 02:23 PM) 2020 C - Collins 1B - ? 2B - Moncada SS - Anderson 3B - Machado LF - ? CF - Robert RF - ? DH - ? Starting 5 Possibilities: Rodon, Kopech, Lopez, Giolito, Fulmer, Hansen, Dunning, Stephens, Adams Trades coming, drafts coming, free agents coming, yay. Fixed
  5. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 20, 2017 -> 06:32 PM) To get Moncada , Kopech, Basabe and Diaz the Sox gave up Chris Sale who had basically 3 years ( 1 and 2 option years ) left on his contract totaling $38M. I will guess if the bidding goes beyond $18M the Sox are out. Then JR should sell the team. Fuggin payroll is gonna be about $3.50 for the next few years spend all your money on lotto tickets while you rebuild. Cheap asses
  6. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 04:58 PM) Any offensive or defensive stats to back up some of the opinions here? Think we could package Avi + Shields for like Schwarber + Happ ++?
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 12, 2017 -> 02:38 PM) It's sort of a sleeping giant IMO. People are starting to be priced out of Wrigley Field. If the Cubs get their own station, some more will be priced of even watching on television. They will never be the Cubs, but they could close the gap in popularity. If the White Sox start winning, things could pick up quickly thanks to the Cubs. They have made more Chicago area people interested in baseball. I don't see fans as being that fluid. The type of fan that would easily switch from being Cubs to Sox is the type of fan that goes to Wrigley because it's Wrigley, not because of the Cubs. Those people aren't going down to the G-Rate if Cubs price them out.
  8. QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 04:25 PM) Did you live through the teams in the 70's? This stretch is nothing compared to that. If people didn't give them up then, they probably still won't now. The patience factor might matter to other teams, but I think the Bears are a little different. There are also roughly 100,000,000 more things people can do now with their free time vs. watching a s***ty team.
  9. The real question: What will replace the unlimited MGD/Lite at the patio party deal?
  10. Love it. Low risk, extremely high payoff if he turns out.
  11. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Mar 16, 2017 -> 09:09 AM) This is what everyone wanted. This direction is what I wanted but it's not complete yet so they can still mess it up. If Q/Robo/Frazier/Melky/Any scrap-heap reclamation/ are still on the team in August 2017 the franchise is still a joke and will be until JR no longer runs the show. No more half in half out bulls***, either blow the whole thing up and rebuild or have a $250m payroll and go for it. Either way just pick a side.
  12. QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 15, 2017 -> 09:04 PM) Tim is actually a pretty hardcore Sox fan. However, not really sure what the angle is here with Deadspin. Trolling, joking, etc. "Seriously" covering stories about this s*** show of a franchise
  13. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 09:01 PM) Zack Colliins, as a Left handed DH and third string catcher would make some sense. Matt Davidson as a Right Handed DH second string third basemen might also make some sense. Trying to keep ZC at Catcher & first full year? Absolutely no way he should be on the big league team this year.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 28, 2017 -> 09:42 AM) In general that will be the best way to get tickets. I am going to get on line to make sure I get good seats for the Buehrle game. Same here. No sense in paying full price or even season tix until they draw more than 500 a game. I still remember getting a stub hub ticket in 2007 for $.25 after $5 off coupon and walking to the game.
  15. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 24, 2017 -> 02:55 PM) Again, with Sale, let's wait to see how his career plays out. Maybe in three years the Sox are knocking on the door and throw money at Sale to round out an untraded Q, Rodon, Giolito/Lopez/Kopech/Fulmer/Hansen/Stephens/Whoever. We have no idea what the future will hold exactly. Of all the possibilities, the Sox paying a 30 year old Sale 150+ million (assuming his arm doesn't fall off) is about the only one I would be my house doesn't happen.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 23, 2017 -> 04:58 PM) Hahn seems to have done it. Has he though? I like the moves the Sox have made this off season...but the teams Hahn has overseen thus far have been garbage despite having a couple stars...much like the Bulls.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 23, 2017 -> 04:52 PM) Part of being a good front office guy is being able to handle the organization politics and get the org moving as one. I can't give him partial credit. How do you "organize politics" when your boss (the owner) is a complete dope & there's another guy in charge of moves? The Chicago Bulls are pretty much the Kings at this point just with a history to fondly look back on. Joke of a franchise with no hope for as long as JR owns the team.
  18. I'm hoping it was "Benny + Scraps....or Moncanda + Kopech, your pick"
  19. No chance he gives a discount when guys like Kennedy or Samardzija sign for 70+ million.
  20. QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Jan 20, 2017 -> 09:05 AM) Just occurred to me that games that air on WGN and WPWR (or WCIU, or whomever will be carrying those extra games this season) still won't be streamable, obviously. That's what rabbit ears are for. Just canceled my ludicrously priced cable package yesterday. Now I'll get an antenna + 300mb internet for less than half of what I was paying for 100mb internet + tv.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 01:55 PM) I am glad you said that. Realistically our rebuild, if it succeeds, will look much more like Pittsburgh or Kansas City, both of whom are already seeing their windows closing. Pittsburgh and KC both had narrow windows with which to bring in talent before their lack of resources meant that players would be leaving and their times at the top ending. There wasn't a lot of extra money to spend into the talent arriving to extend that window. Man I'd hate to have a rebuild like KC had. Terrible failure that was.
  22. I'm sure he's gonna be a real treat to listen to when they win 65 games
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 28, 2016 -> 10:38 AM) You can have whatever you want. I just don't see it as very realistic. Yeesh you're still harping on this stuff? What the hell did you want them to do? Ride out another 3 years of half-assed FA signings and garbage pile pickups in the hope to hit on 10 lotto tickets a year then watch Sale/Eaton/Abreu/Q all walk with 0 playoff games played? Or maybe sell at all time high peaks, go from near worst to near best farm system in baseball with a dozen exciting players to look forward to. A new manager wasn't getting this team 20 more wins. It was a flawed roster with 0 depth and a cheap owner. Taking 4 players and completely rebuilding a farm system/franchise is the absolute best case scenario.
  24. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 01:13 PM) Maybe because the season hasn't even started yet and we have no idea what this team will look like. Rooting for this team to win 55 games means guys like Rodon and Anderson - and later in the year Moncada, Fulmer, Giolito and Lopez - did not develop like we had hoped. Trust me, if the Sox continue to trade off pieces, they'll be lucky to win 70 games - but we also need our young players to develop. If some of these guys come up and produce well and cause hte Sox to finish with the 7th worst record instead of the 3rd - so what. Who says you can't win 55 games and not develop young talent? If all it takes to be a good team is a couple of guys performing well the Sox franchise wouldn't have been a s*** show for a decade. I want the 3rd pick, not the 7th.
  25. Yes, lose all the games. I don't understand anyone who argues against that. If you're nowhere near a wild card, lose all of em. I argue with Cubs fan friends about it and ask: would you rather have had 4 more wins in 2012 or Kris Bryant?
