  1. Extra year, cheaper, durable...Q should have the same value as Sale IMO but likely won't because he's not as "flashy"
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:23 PM) IMO, Q is a HUGE prize for someone. He's worth a lot. My assumption is he is somehow worth "less" than Sale on the market (even though he really shouldn't be due to the extra control, cheaper contract and durability), so I figured package him + Eaton to Nats for everything they were going to give up for Sale + much more.
  3. Flip Q for the Nats package now? Toss in Eaton for more? Abreu to someplace Frazier/Melky/Robo dumped. Turn the old "core" of Sale/Q/Eaton/Abreu into 10-12 players with some stars. Turn the salary dumps into 5-6 players?
  4. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:15 PM) What does he mean by that? He does not play against Sale
  5. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 08:35 PM) Heyman: Sale talks with nats saiid to be "advacing". Would be huge gets obvs Glad he clarified that, I wasn't sure at first.
  6. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 08:25 PM) Robels is an OF. Ah stupid google summary said "Robles, a 19-year-old righty..." who phrases a hitter like that.
  7. So...one of the best pitchers in the game on the best contract in the game for...2 pitching prospects? Am I missing something? That seems horrendous unless both of those prospects become 1/2 level instantly when they hit the majors.
  8. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 3, 2016 -> 02:01 PM) red sox still looking for a hitter, but i hear they do not plan to take the big plunge and make it EE https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/805130667822563328 Sale + Abreu for Boston's entire system?
  9. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 20, 2016 -> 08:03 AM) If that's the rotation we open 2017 with, I don't want to waste money on Cespedes. SP market is light and the plan involves a ton of praying, but if we're doing this bulls*** half in half out for another year I think that's the best we can hope for
  10. Benintendi Eaton Cespedes Abreu Melky Frazier Anderson Moncada Catcher Q Rodon Gonzo Shields Fulmer Colins + Adams in 2018
  11. Shocking that a player didn't publicly s*** all over his team and organization in the event he doesn't get traded. Means nothing
  12. At this point I hope we do trade Sale as I assume an off-season filled with trade rumors will cause numerous hissy fits and a slow start which hurts his deadline value.
  13. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 07:09 PM) I'll fall off the bandwagon and be left behind. I believe you still build around pieces like that if they are cost controlled. You're still on the bandwaggon now? This team is absolute garbage and has been for 8 of the last 10 years. There's no free agents, there's no money to sign free agents even if they were available, and limited non-ML assets to trade. There is no other option but trading at least 1 of these prime assets we have with the hope of acquiring 2-3 studs + more in trade for 1. The only way they compete without a full white flag is get DD to give up Benny + Mocanda and have them be immediate studs in the ML, sign a FA catcher, sign Cespedes, and hope that: Rodon makes a huge leap, Gonzo wasn't a mirage, Shields isn't a high school pitcher, and Fulmer or Adams can be a ML starter. I see most of that as not being possible so you have to sell.
  14. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 02:10 PM) South Sider a lot of the points you are making are that they are from times past and not pertinent to the current situation. My point is that the organization as a whole is the same as it has been for all of these moves and has been since the 90's. KW and Buddy Bell are there and overseeing these things. All of this is unprecedented though. You can't compare lackluster trades from the past to this as there has never been guys the level of Sale/Q and to lesser Abreu/Frazier available for them to trade. I don't trust their development and scouting either, but they're dealing with trades for top prospects in all of baseball not a handful of lotto tickets. If you can turn those 4 players into 10-15 prospects with several that are MLB ready potential stars there's little concern in my opinion and the "lotto" ticket is the potential to have a playoff team in 2-3 years.
  15. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 09:46 PM) I really don't see Urias involved in a hypothetical Sale/Frazier. I think Friedman holds his ground there. However, I think a package like the following is possible. De Leon Bellinger Verdugo Alvarez Calhoun Barnes Sheffield That's four guys who could help at some point next year, along with three high-upside guys little further out. IMO, that's an absolute haul even if it's lacking that one blue chipper you'd ideally like. A Sale trade without the phrase "blue chipper" involved was a failure.
  16. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 01:11 PM) This -- Bellinger is a legit stick from what I understand. Verdugo look like a solid regular at least. There's plenty there. I think this board is severely underrating Urias for some reason (easy top 3 prospect in all of baseball, arguably #1), and Bellinger has had some serious helium as of late (probably top 25). I just don't get why they would want to give up Urias then, unless they think he is several years away from being great.
  17. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Nov 9, 2016 -> 11:00 PM) Was thinking this too. Abreu would be a a much cheaper option compared to Cabrera I wouldn't call it "much" cheaper. Miggy isn't going to command a ton heading into a decline and still being owed 200 mil
  18. QUOTE (SpankyEaton @ Nov 6, 2016 -> 02:06 PM) I've thought about opening lines of communication with Brooks Boyer asking him to get in touch with the gamesay operations team to bring back things like Pirates of the Caribbean with Thunderstruck before games, the "Let's Go White Sox" song during the game, getting some more loud things to get fans involved during the game and maybe players might consider more intimidating music entering the game - I'd love to hear some "Harvest of Sorrow" in the game again. It would be nice if the place wasn't so chill all of the time and see fans get pumped up for a change...other than when the Checy Pride crew comes out with free t-shirts. I think when there's only 500 people in the stands there's not going to be a lot of noise regardless.
  19. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 07:55 PM) There's been talk Devers may be the best of the bunch. I want him in any deal. Moncada, Benintendi, Devers and Rodriguez or Kopech? Is it crazy to think that Sale for that package + throwing the bank at Cespedes makes them wild-card competitive? A boy can dream 1b - Jose 2b - Moncada SS - Tim 3b - Frazier LF - Cespedes CF - Benintendi RF - Eaton C - Some guy DH - Melky
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 07:51 AM) Yes, but had we signed Desmond or Fowler, we would have gotten that compensation back when they declined qualifying offers...so paying either of two guys who put up 3 WAR seasons under $10 million AND getting draft pick comp wouldn't have been a bad deal at all. We signed lots of veterans this year to one year deals like Latos, Rollins, Morneau, Navarro, Avila, etc., so one more wouldn't have "ruined" the hypothetical long-term plan. Again, still don't know that. What if Desmond tanks and isn't even worth a QO? What if Fowler was only long-term big money deal or 1 year Cubs? We don't know any of this, its all guessing.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 02:55 AM) If the White Sox didn't have the necessary budget leeway to add another $5-10 million (the cost of finishing with either Fowler or Desmond), then they shouldn't have bothered to sign Robertson, Cabrera, LaRoche, trade for Frazier, etc. The margin of error was just way too thin, and it proved itself to be prophetic when Rollins and Latos struggled, Avila/Navarro struggled/got hurt and finally the Austin Jackson injury. Of course, the most mystifying part of last season was adding a lot more money onto the payroll for James Shields (when they were still in contention), money that they apparently didn't feel justified spending before the season began, even though it amount to much less than they eventually allocated to Shields. You can't defend the White Sox front office for falling short on adding an impact bat because they "ran out of money/budget/resources," because EVERYONE AT SOXTALK saw that situation coming from a MILE away. In fact, while many were not confident about a Cespedes deal, Gordon was a very real possibility, along with Desmond and possibly Fowler. Obviously, Gordon got hurt, but his asking price came down $18-28 million from the original expected/asking price at the beginning of the off-season. Looking at Jackson's last 2-3 seasons and his enigmatic performance, it was about as realistic for him to return to a 3 WAR player as it was for Lawrie. Of course, they could have traded for Jean Segura, for example, but 28 other teams missed out on that lower-hanging fruit (Trumbo as well). Where are your sources for ANY of that? Those are all assumptions and could be made in the other direction just as easily: Desmond only wanted a 1 year deal to rebuild value and hit the market again (we weren't giving up a draft pick for a 1 year deal)...Fowler had a bigger deal lined up with the O's and turned it down either to be with the Cubs or for the same reason as Desmond. Gordon used us for leverage with KC and didn't want to leave. Cespedes same as all of the above. I despise the front office of this franchise, but stating all of the above as fact just doesn't work.
  22. Im still holding out hope he can be a 4th starter vs. worst starter in the history of baseball
  23. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 12:05 PM) This is false. Wallow in your own ignorance if you enjoy it. Whats your point though? That hey maybe 30 years ago it was "close" to even? As of the last couple decades and for pretty much as long as baseball exists Chicago will be a Cubs town. The sox are never going to even it up.
  24. All I want is for the love of god to pick a side. Either blow the WHOLE thing up or crack open the piggy bank. No more scrap heap lottery tickets. But saying all that, I don't really trust this organization to do either path correctly so it's going to take a miracle for this team to not be a garbage fire until there is a new owner.
  25. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 10:36 AM) My wish list is for them to not give away any draft picks. Which also means sell...if they're not going to sign any FA's with comp picks attached then there's no point in keeping this 70 win team together for another run at 4th place.
