  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 11:04 AM) 10/5 guy What can they "offer" him to waive it in scenarios like this?
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 11:16 AM) Couldn't disagree more. Most important part was acquiring MLB talent without giving up Anderson/Fulmer/Rodon/Quintana. I still wonder just how the Sox were able to get Frazier with what they gave up/Dodgers gave up. Supposedly the night before, the Reds were asking for either Danny Salazar or a package of C. Frazier, Zimmer and more. If the Cubs or KC made this deal, you would be upset that Hahn wasn't able to. Still need another bat or it was a waste IMO. 2 years of Frazier/Lawrie isn't enough time to hope we don't still have black holes in RF/LF/DH/SS/C - not to mention Lawrie isn't a sure thing. Have to capitalize on potentially not having an embarrassing offense for once and not be half in half out.
  3. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 08:58 PM) Just look at the WAR numbers and figure out how you're going to get to a decent cumulative number compared to what they had. Yeah Frazier/Lawrie isn't much an upgrade over Saladino/Sanchez I will add a big OF'er needs to be added or it is pointless
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 08:38 PM) Right now, the Dodgers are projecting Thompson to platoon with Pederson in CF, Micah with Kiki Hernandez at 2B and Montas in the pen/AAA/or packaged for a frontline starting pitcher. That means Van Slyke and Ethier/Crawford (best deal available to Friedman) are likely gone. At least one of those three. Since they just went to the trouble of trying to project an image of solidarity between Puig and Kershaw down in Cuba, it's either they are set to keep Puig and repair the off-season PR damage/not sell low or the greatest con game in history. http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/i...trade-with-reds I don't see a chance in hell them platooning Pederson with Trayce. That would be hilariously stupid
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 07:35 PM) Geez, it's not been that negative. Just because some of us question sending 3 big leaguers for 1 as possibly being an overpay doesn't mean we don't like the idea of Frazier. You must want 100 percent gung-ho-ism about this deal. Those 3 prospects we traded all will be in the big leagues this year. It's more than human nature to be a bit concerned about an NL slugger coming over to the AL. Not down about the trade, but not doing cartwheels. We've been there and been burned before. Unless Trayce and Micah get traded again, they will not be in the big leagues next year more than a late call up/pinch runner. Montas is the only one that has the potential to be anything more than an average major leaguer. The Sox cannot develop positional players so I'm fine trading lower level prospects for All Star black-hole filling third baseman.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 01:06 AM) Except for the greatest rotation in a generation part (not with Shark/Danks/Noesi/Erik Johnson as part of it). You have to be deeper than just 3 starters to have the best in a generation, and Rodon needs to improve and repeat from last year. At any rate, you have the Braves of the 90's (Maddux/Glavine/Smoltz/Avery), the future Mets' rotation (deGrom/Harvey/Snydegaard/Matz/Colon/Wheeler)...heck, the Nationals were supposed to have the best rotation in baseball this season and that didn't exactly turn out, either (Scherzer/Strasburg/Zimmermann/Gio Gonzalez/Fister/Tanner Roark.) I'm sure older fans remember all the hype about Paul Wilson, Bill Pulsipher and Jason Isringhausen with the Mets 15 years ago. Only one of those guys even emerged to have a decent big league career, and it wasn't with NY. To clarify - greatest rotation in a "Sox Generation" not baseball in general.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 19, 2015 -> 12:05 AM) I sort of do because I don't see anything special on the Cubs roster right now compared to ours (considering the Flubs stars are so young; now potentially it's a different story). I think Robin epically failed and Madden somehow got a similar team to win 97 games. Literally every single player in the Cubs starting lineup is far better or on par with the Sox (Rizzo/Abreu being the only toss up). The cubs have an absurdly young & cheap core + money to spend on a Greinke/Price this off season. They're going to be contenders for the next 5 years easily. The Sox have black holes at 7 positions with almost no help waiting in the minors and no money to spend. Terrible ownership, terrible coaching, terrible scouting and wasting the greatest rotation in a generation. I am incredibly jealous.
  8. Starts at the top. This franchise needs a new owner for anything to change.
  9. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 12:05 PM) White Sox's pursuit of impact RH bat (Yoenis Cespedes/Justin Upton) might lead to Jeff Samardzija trade, either in 3-team deal or 2 trades. https://twitter.com/philgrogers/status/627162584370814976 Yuck...I do not want a Shark trade to facilitate a rental of a bat.
  10. I take ol' Melton with a grain of salt after he laughed at the Kazmir trade saying we should get wayyyy more for Shark because he's so much better than that crummy Kazmir....who's having a better year than Shark and is a lefty
  11. mmm love me some "team meetings" 13 games into the season. Good stuff
  12. Too lazy to search...where's Rodon at right now in terms of a starting schedule? Could he come out of the pen as one of his normal off day sessions?
  13. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 19, 2015 -> 05:00 PM) There's like 14 million reasons Danks is safe for now. I'll never understand that philosophy. It's a sunk cost, see if you can Zach Duke him and get at least some value. Can't see having a 4 lefty roatation
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 19, 2015 -> 04:56 PM) I truly think they just want to hold off on saying Noesi's out of the rotation if he has a bad start this week. It better be 1-2 appearances from the pen....let Danks & Noesi s*** themselves 1 last time...then he makes the next start for one of them. Anything else and this team is a joke
  15. What in unbelievably stupid move. Just when I thought they were starting to make smart decisions.
  16. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 11:39 AM) Thus destroying whatever trade value that he has He's a 5th starter owed over 20mil who can't pitch more than 4 innings a start. He has no trade value.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 12, 2015 -> 11:37 AM) One of the writers (Merkin maybe?) tweeted Abreu was taking grounders before opening day. Don't know the source of the second part. They announced it in the pre-game too, Robin talked about it for interleague/emergency
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 08:15 PM) Noesi could definitely have been better. They got shutout by the #4 starter on the Twins throwing 87mph all day.
  19. QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 24, 2015 -> 01:20 PM) Great article. It was strange that Steverson was talking about Abreu hitting a double on OD in the freezing cold. I was there, it was my birthday and it was 67 degrees at game time. Haha yeah it was shorts weather OD last year then ice cold for the Cubs opener a few days later as I remember laughing at some buddies who went to that.
  20. Customer service still needs work. If I have rain-out tickets I shouldn't have to pay $40 more the next day to watch the makeup game in my same seats in a 50% filled stadium.
  21. Super important question....anyone know if food is free in the Lexus Club thing at the UC?
  22. Anyone know if they sell home gold/diamond/home plate/scout tickets as singles or only with season plans?
  23. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 02:50 PM) Reports out there (Sam Smith?) suggesting Kevin Love to opt out of contract at the end of season and test free agency with Lakers on his mind. That.was.quick I always assumed the Cavs had some sort of long term commitment from him when they traded Wiggins. If not that'd be hilarious
  24. Got scout seats Friday, odds that Sale is starting the first game after the break? I'm hoping for 100% odds
  25. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 29, 2014 -> 10:32 PM) Yes, pull the league's leading hitter in a tie game. When that hitter would be batting 8th in the following inning? Yes, you pull him and his tball defense.
