  1. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 01:16 PM) Tebow began starting for the Broncos not because of any skills he might have, but because his fanbase loves him for being Christian. That apparently is the ONLY reason he started to play. That's 100% ridiculous. There's a very logical reason he started to play - they sucked and the year was lost and they wanted to find out what they had. The Broncos had 3 s***ty QBs. s***ty QB 1 failed, which left them with 2 options: s***ty QB 2 and s***ty QB 3 who also happens to have a massive following because he thanks jebus after winning football games. Which would you start? And if he was clearly their best option all along, why was he slotted as a 3rd stringer? Claiming that his religous cult following crap had NOTHING to do with him playing is what's ridiculous.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 01:10 PM) They are one game away from the Super Bowl. Do you really think they get their with Kyle Orton or Brady Quinn? Did Tebow's jesus powers get them a bye in the divisional round?
  3. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 12:59 PM) He gets attention for that, sure. But if he was just an average QB at Florida he wouldn't have gotten the attention solely because he loves him some Jesus. College Football =! NFL football. There's a million guys who were the s*** in college and were just s*** in the NFL. Nobody denies that he was good in college Edit - And the fact that you seem to be denying that all the religious crap has anything to do with his popularity is hilarious
  4. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 12:56 PM) Lol, another Christian conspiracy. I love it. And no, your opinion here is absolutely, 100% ridiculous. The Broncos made a franchise decision to play an untested guy after their season was lost over a career back-up who failed as a starter for Cleveland. The rest is history. Where did he mention Christian in there? Are you denying the fact that Tebow has a ridiculous following? (no matter what the reason is behind it)
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 12:43 PM) Definitely not true. He wasn't drafted because he loves Jesus. He was drafted because some coach sold a franchise on the idea that he could do something at the QB position that other guys couldn't. So far he's been proven right. But the only reason he get's this ridiculous amount of attention is due to jahova god almighty. Only reason. My theory still holds, he's a mobile Rex Grossman with a s***tier arm.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 09:51 AM) Well, yeah...it would be on the Jays to pick up most of it if they made a deal. I'm just saying, as a player, Teahen would be a good fit right now as the Sox don't have a backup 3B. So how would Teahen fill that void?
  7. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 9, 2012 -> 12:24 AM) I think it has more to do with the NBA being laughably corrupt than the Bulls being lucky. Yes, cause the NBA would have picked the Bulls over reviving NY or pairing Rose & Wade.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 6, 2012 -> 12:09 PM) POTY except he's probably serious
  9. Why would someone make up a Floyd to the Jays trade? I could see someone starting a BS HOWARD TO THE BULLS!!!! But not something as (relatively) unimportant as this
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 05:12 PM) Definitely. Only 2? And one is a beer vendor? The Hawks always have 4 or 5 in half as many games. There should have been a PK, AJ, Danks bobble heads every year by now. Took em till last year for a damn MB one
  11. always slacking on bobble heads. Those are the only valid giveaway.
  12. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 03:43 PM) At the time of draft everyone was salivating over him, IIRC. Centerpiece of the Halladay trade wasn't he?
  13. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 12:39 PM) I know it will never happen, but that plan would make perfect sense. IMO, Jackson is an upgrade over Floyd. With him, Danks, & Sale, you have three long-term pieces already in your rotation. You'd just need Humber or minor leaguers to fill those last two spots. That would seriously quicken the rebuilding of the pitching staff. Think Jax would sign for It's not happening.
  14. QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 12:22 PM) I can see the Sox bringing back Boras client free agent pitcher Edwin Jackson with the the money cleared from moving Floyd and Thornton/Crain. I think KW will be able to add promising prospects from moving Floyd and replace his production with E. Jax. I think KW is beyond clearing money for JR's budget, he is clearing money to make moves now. Not a chance on earth
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 03:50 PM) Most players who suck are untradeable. Shhh...don't tell that to greg or elrockin
  16. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 03:56 PM) Thats what Hester is to me. You dont need 2 guys like that imo and clearly Hester is more valuable then Knox. Alternate them both doing that so 1 of them is always out there with Bowe or VJ/Bennet
  17. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 03:02 PM) I dunno about you but I'd be perfectly happy with Johnny Knox as a part of the WR corps so long as it's down a few rungs. Certainly we all hate having him in the role the Bears have had him, trying to pass him off as a 1/2 guy, but as a 3/4 sign me up A 3/4 that just sprints full speed down field every couple plays and returns kicks is fine with me. No routes, nothing over the middle, 1 move or less, only thrown to in single coverage.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 01:27 PM) Oh give me a break. The let the mad scientist take control of the entire organization model has proven to not have much merit to it. There has to be manageable divisions of labor, and a clear hierarchy within any organization. The Bears are the charter franchise of the NFL, with a huge fanbase, reasonably solid stadium, in a major market with a franchise quarterback and a solid (yet aging) defense in place. It is an attractive job. Lovie has shown an ability to work with many different personalities and even many different styles of offense. He's a low-key, intelligent, winning coach who has never thrown his boss or anyone else under the bus publicly. If anything, he is loyal to a fault. Lovie is not going to stop us from attracting both a great GM and a great OC. How is letting your GM pick a coach/staff a "mad scientist" approach? That seems more like a "common sense" approach. I'm not saying there is all that much wrong with Lovie...but I don't like the situation being basically "you can't make any changes to the coaching staff" to attract a good GM. But I guess anything is better than JA's stubborn ass
  19. Come on down, step right up, the Bears have an opening at GM!.....you just can't make any coaching decisions and have to make sure Lovie likes you first, but other than that, its all yours!!!! So if we don't land a decent GM, we're looking at what maybe 2 more years of mediocre football until Lovie then gets fired. Then another 2-3 years until the GM and his new coaching staff get fired. THEN we can blow the whole thing up and look for another franchise QB. Woooo
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 4, 2012 -> 10:03 AM) yep, he needed time to survey the defense. And since he wasnt on the field, he had to relay it to SHane Day who relayed it to Cutler. And of course, if it was a disguised defense and Cutler saw through it and knew it was going to be a busted play, there was very very little he could do about it. Can't describe how angry it makes me that not a single coach (including the infallible Lovie) didn't say "hey...that's a stupid f***ing way to run the offense"
  21. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 31, 2011 -> 01:27 PM) We mock the Cubs, but Sox fans might seriously have the lowest standards in baseball. I was fine with the Santos trade, but we will convince ourselves that any move was good. Oh well, it's New Years Eve. I'm going to go have fun and forget about baseball for a while. And people on this board despise all our players and think they all suck....but then expect multiple top 10 prospects in return for a trade. You can't do both
  22. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Dec 25, 2011 -> 10:48 PM) The last 5 NBA champs (Spurs, Lakers 2, BOS, DAL) had all this elite athleticism where? Kobe and.....Lamar? Or Big Fundamentals and....Tony Parker? Garnett and....Pierce? Tyson Chandler and....Jason Terry? I am sorry, I don't see much elite athleticism outside of 1 guy. uhh....Jason.Kidd.
  23. Dunn could win Comeback Player with .250/25/80
  24. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 22, 2011 -> 01:23 AM) I've seen enough. The Clippers are a legitimate championship contender. Oh my goodness. Forget about Blake Griffin for a second. What planet is DeAndre Jordan from? How can you be that f***ing athletic at his size? He, IMO, will be the second best C in basketball when it's all said and done. The Clippers are the new Showtime. just think how dominant they would be if they had Jason Kidd
  25. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 11:50 AM) Hypothetical question: If the lakers asked for boozer + noah would you do it? Yes, long as you can resign him. Asik slides in decently enough for Noah, Noah's health always questionable. Instant favorite for the title i'd think.
