  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 05:32 PM) Or we could have won the division if the GM didn't bring in overpaid stiffs like Dunn and Rios. And waste so much money on Peavy. KW's one sentence in the media how Ozzie was allowed to bench the zillionaires was MASTERFUL in making KW look good. Totally shifted the blame from KW to Oz. Good job, Kenny. If you believe in reality of sports you understand why Ozzie plays Dunn and Rios. bleh, I had a response typed but there's no point any more, you can't get by your blind backing of Ozzie to have a logical discussion on the matter. Hilarious
  2. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 13, 2011 -> 02:43 PM) No. Intriguing reply, really stirring conversion.
  3. Then in 3-4 years when all those pitching prospects come around, we'll have to trade them to replenish out somehow even more horrific offense.
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 11:31 PM) Both those jokes are awful. Worse than my Albatrios pun. True, but I look forward to reading them 156,798 times until next April
  5. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 01:39 PM) 10 out, I don't know how a case can be made that the 'talent was there" It was there...just happened to be on the bench and in AAA QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 06:07 PM) I'll try to lay off the personal attacks, but the basic premise is true. Ozzie should blast Dunn. This is supposed to be big-boy baseball, not Little League. You know what would be even crazier? If he *gasp* didn't f***ing play him. I honestly believe we could have won the division or came within a game or 2 if our lineup was made by a 6 year old who only had BA/HR/RBI to look at after July 15th.
  6. Good thing we kept him down there so long so he could develop that arm
  7. Damn, he'll miss out on the 4 more games he would have started.
  8. I don't care 1 bit about Ozzie not using statistics as much as he should, I'm fine with letting a manager go with his gut and lifetime of playing baseball. Where I draw the line is when the f***ing manager sabotages the season because he's a petty, egomaniac fighting with his boss. At this point, either Ozzie needs to go or they both do. If KW goes and Ozzie stays, I can't even imagine how big Ozzie's head will be next season.
  9. How Greg still doesn't understand baffles me. Nobody can be that dense without intentionally trolling
  10. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 03:26 PM) I don't get this. Shocking
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 03:05 PM) Did you also solicit feedback on your opinion that Juan Pierre is a very good player? It's probably some family Ozzie has in the KC area.
  12. QUOTE (oldsox @ Sep 8, 2011 -> 02:34 PM) AJ is not the reason for the lousy year that the Sox had. Primary culprits are the two clowns in the middle of the batting order (Rios/Dunn) and the GM who got them. When it became obvious the Sox were not going anywhere, I was hoping for a minor overhaul, and we had a start with moving Jackson, Teahan and finally bringing up DeAza, Flowers, and Viciedo. With Giants missing their great catcher Posey, yet still contending, I was hopeful that we could make a deal with them for AJ. After what the Giants gave up for Beltran, we could have gotten something significant, or so I thought last July. yeah, i'm sure the Giants were super eager to trade for AJ again. Worked out so well the first time.
  13. How could the Twins have had any hype? They lost their entire bullpen, Morneau is ruined, Mauer is hurt. Stupid
  14. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 10:14 PM) I'm in a pickle. I want the Sox to play Dayan, De Aza, Flowers and Lilli every inning for the rest of the season but if that happens we have a much better chance of winning games and I'd prefer if we just lost out. What to do, what to do... Never fear, Ozzie is still managing so you won't have to worry yourself with anything silly like the best lineup being out there.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 11:56 PM) It's dangerous to think Humber and Stewart are great options. Are they just Kyle Davies clones as we enter an era where we are the new Royals? No offense to them. They've been great, but they could open next season throwing BP. They have no track record of greatness. hahaha, so track records only matter when it suits your argument?
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 04:54 PM) I'm not worried about who the 6th starter is in 2013. Nor should you be. I'm getting kind of antsy as to who our 5th OF will be in 2014
  17. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 04:44 PM) The pitching staff needs to be addressed this offseason or they are looking at a Indians-like rebuilding period beginning in 2013. Ah, so you're trolling again, got it. Thanks for clearing that up
  18. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 04:30 PM) Forget about the offense, it's the pitching staff that needs to be rebuilt ASAP. Whatever tradable assets they have should be focused on the staff. Because pitching was clearly the problem this year?
  19. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 02:25 PM) I agree 100%. I loved the roster. Now, after how they played this season, are you still in love with it? I'm not. I'm not convinced these same 25 can make the playoffs next season. Believing that means you also believe the Beckham and Dunn will never be good again and Morel will never get better. If you do fine, I'm not there yet.
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 03:16 PM) Starting him and placing him 5th in the lineup is out of the manager's control. Guys what is Ozzie supposed to do? It's in Rios's contract that he bat no lower than 5th, this is all on KW, Ozzie doesn't have a choice.
  21. QUOTE (champs2005 @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 01:51 PM) Most of these posted idea lineups are even more punchless than today! The Sox need at least one if not two more hitters that can put up PK type numbers in order to compete next year. These new guys probably need to play 3B and LF. Trade Quentin? I wouldnt do that. Sox need to add MUCH more offense to support the great pitching and defense. And Im not talking about Rios, Beckham and Dunn doing better. We need two NEW top 20 type hitters. Maybe trade Floyd or Thornton for them? Let me know where you're getting a "top 20 hitter" for Floyd or Thorton.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 01:29 PM) I don't think that there's an overreaction to 1 loss happening here, I think there's a reaction to the way Sergio's full suite of blown saves have happened. I'm fine with the term as long as you also include the fact that he was taking BP not too long ago, has the best out pitch in baseball, and was dominant for long stretches of the season into consideration. If he's still a "mental midget" despite all those other facts, then it's just dumb.
  23. QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 01:09 PM) I'll take Sergio and his novice upside over a bevy of other closers. The skill set this kid brings is sick and like NSS72 says...he's just getting started. He's gone through stretches he was just plain sick...unhittable. Not sure where the mental midget comment even came in. from people overreacting to 1 loss and tossing out the latest Soxtalk buzzword.
  24. QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 01:11 PM) Rios is the one out of the albatross contracts of Dunn, Rios and Peavy that will be most likely moved IMO (with eating salary). We're just flat out stuck with Dunn and Peavy. But there is no way in hell De Aza shouldn't be starting and leading off next year. Not disagreeing with that, I just don't see A.) Anyone taking Rios without us eating 75% B.) Us eating 75%. Dunn is still on the "crazy outlier season" status for me, and I fully believe he bounces back to .250/35/100 Peavy has 1 year left, all the more reason to keep the payroll high 1 more time. If it doesn't work, then you have some off the books for 2013 and start the full out rebuild.
