  1. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 02:32 PM) Earl Weaver, considered by many one of the best mangers of all time, relied on ptching, defense, and sat back and waited for the 3 run homer. I don't agree with everything OG does but many people (not saying you) seem to think, no matter what Ozzie does is wrong. If he would have let Lillibridge bat and strike out, I'm sure some would have been saying Dunn should have been up there. I guess what I'm saying is most people just assume the best is going to happen if a situation was handled the way they think it should. If Dunn would have cracked a 3 run HR there, would people be giving Ozzie credit for a great move? I doubt it. The one thing OG has done pretty consistently is put a wining team out there. They may not win enough all the time, but he's not a guy like Eric Wedge who wins manager of the year one year and is fired within 2-3 years afterwards. In my mind, the 3 most consistent managers in the AL have been Scioscia, Gardenhire and Ozzie. Their teams, for the most part, are always in it. I don't count Francona and Girardi because, with that payroll, all they have to do is not mess things up. This is where the outrage comes from....NOBODY would have been clamoring for Dunn. He is having the worst season in the history of modern baseball. He shouldn't be on the field ever again this season.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 01:29 PM) LOL, you think people are going to start losing their jobs on September 5th? Really? JR will fire everyone on 9/5, then Hahn will package Dunn/Rios/Peavy for some low level prospects, and lastly Ozzie will take over for Florida on 9/6 and lead them to the NLCS ultimately losing to the Phillies.
  3. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 10:47 AM) Maybe he should use his brain once in a while. Eh, nevermind, scratch that too. It's just so crazy now seeing Soxtalkers saying numerous times they truly believe Ozzie is putting his own agenda before the team. That thought has crossed my mind too but that would be a banned from baseball offense if proven which of course it can't be. But I really wonder sometimes if that isn't the case. I truly believe it is at this point. And yeah he would be banned...but how could you possibly prove it unless he admitted to it?
  4. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 10:46 AM) For the record: Ozzie made a number of gutsy calls in the '05 postseason that other managers may not have made. Buehrle to close out game 3 at Houston bringing in El Duque in Boston leaving starters in for the duration instead of Manuel-ing the game by insisting on maintaining bullpen roles Yeah, I'm all for firing him now. But I won't pull that "THEY WON '05 IN SPITE OF OZZIE" bulls***.
  5. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 09:22 AM) Blocking him is the best thing, believe me. Getting there...just bored at work
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 01:37 AM) So we can't afford Quentin, so we'll go with DeAza, Rios and Tank. Well Rios ruins our team's chances in that scenario and along with Dunn n Jake we have a .500 team or a few games below again next year just like this year. So I do get it. But you don't....you seem to think it's just a matter of trading Dunn and Rios to free up money.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 01:41 AM) The average Sox fan obviously isn't an internet message board user. Ozzie is not hated by most. Nobody has yet proven to me how a team can have a better record than we have with Peavy, Rios and Dunn. Pro-tip for you: don't play Rios/Dunn ever again this season and odds are quite high the team will be better. I'd love to see you defend the 9th inning yesterday.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 05:03 PM) Tigers have a much better team than we do and it'll finally officially be over after that weekend series. As far as Ozzie, he probably wants to go manage Florida. He'll be happy when he gets canned cause Dunn n Rios n Peavy are going nowhere and you can't win with those 3 contract albatrosses. Judging that we're still in the race despite being sub-.500 for almost the entire season...no, no they don't have a much better team. I won't even touch the Ozzie part, no point.
  9. officially on the fire ozzie boat now. I'm done. Fire KW as well just for contributing to the cat fight. Such an easy call, it's not "armchair manager", anyone in their right mind would not have Dunn and Rios anywhere near this lineup. No excuse....other than of course a petty hissy fight between our manager and gm. Awesome
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 02:53 PM) They're going to have a starting pitcher end up with 22-23 wins likely and a perfect closer on the year (at this point). If this was the Twins a year ago, everyone would be saying they have a great shot to advance to the World Series. Not everyone, only the people who think/thought Minny was the greatest franchise of all time. I've never thought the Twins had a shot to do anything other than win the central and get destroyed by Bos/NYY/TB the last 6 years

  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 12:58 PM) stop saying fuggin to get around the sweat filter. Wish I had one of those
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 12:47 PM) AFTER the call-ups? We have enough capable players to ensure he doesn't start now. Of course we do...but I can at the very least see Ozzie saying "I can't start Lilibridge cause he's needed for OF AND 1B now with PK shaky and I need De Aza as the other OF" or something stupid like that. I'm not saying its logical, but I can at least see the possibility of that.
  14. Christ stop replying to him people, this is like a black hole. I feel dumber
  15. QUOTE (SnB @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 12:41 PM) See you next year then. Why in the world would you think today would be rios' last day after what you've seen all season? I said somewhere else...but after the call-ups, there is no excuse left for Ozzie to use (and yes, it's still a stupid excuse, but it exists) for playing Rios. So I'll give it 1 last chance.
  16. Hopefully today is just Rios's send off for the 2011 season. Unless he goes 4-4 with 6 homeruns, he should never see the field again after today, and if he does I will not be watching the rest of the season.
  17. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 12:36 PM) You must not watch a lot of baseball. Bah, don't know why i fall for the troll bait occasionally. As you were
  18. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 12:30 PM) He hits better against Minny than any other team. I hope for your sake that you're just trolling....but even at that point...who trolls a White Sox message board? Trolling a large message board with a ton of traffic I can understand...but trolling a board with maybe 20 active posters? Do not get.
  19. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 31, 2011 -> 12:11 PM) Rios is the better option versus the left-hander. Rios isn't the better option for anything other than maybe Dunn.
  20. I'll give Ozzie the benefit of the doubt for 1 last day. Rios should never see the field again after today
  21. I love Ozzie, but today should officially be the last day Rios and Dunn ever have the possibility of starting for the 2011 White Sox. Once the rosters expand there is literally no excuse why they should ever sniff the field again this year except for a pinch runner or an 18 inning game. JP/De Aza/Vic/Quentin/Lili/PK has to be the OF/DH/1B rotation no matter what starting 9/1. If not, I'll truly believe Ozzie is sabotaging this team to spite KW.
  22. Hilarious if you haven't been on the internet for the last 5 years of Chuck Norris jokes I suppose
  23. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Aug 27, 2011 -> 09:22 PM) Jay Cutler's footwork and mechanics have gotten noticeably better since the end of last year. I am cautiously optimistic that he may have turned a corner in his career. Won't matter with a swiss cheese o-line, no solid receivers, and a horrible coaching staff.
  24. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 12:45 AM) It was Hendry, and I am PRETTY certain the Cubs will end up with either Pujols or Fielder next year. They have lots of money freed up, can spend tons of a money, need a 1B, need to show the fans they still care about winning, and most of the other big players (Yankees, Red Sox) have 1B locked down already. It would be hilarious/fantastic if they sign either of those guys to 8yr/150+million dollar deals. Pujols will be great for a while, but a 40 year old Albert making 25 million would be funny. And Fielder is....fat, so a 325lb 33 year old Fielder making 25 million would be equally funny.
  25. I still refuse to believe Dunn forgot how to hit after 10 years at the age of 31. I think he'll drop 20lbs and put up 40/100 next year
