Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
jenksycat replied to macsandz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:42 AM) Yes, clearly this one deal is what I'm referring to, and not the many, many awful deals that have cost JR piles of cash and lead to this final punting of value that is Edwin Jackson. Claim Alex Rios - big cash. f***. Trade Daniel Hudson - Get a known commodity in Edwin Jackson trying to force hand of Washington to trade you player you actually want in Adam Dunn. Claim MANNY RAMIREZ - one month. one homer. $5 mill. f***. Give away Edwin Jackson to get rid of another AWFUL, POINTLESS contract extension in Mark Teahen. This is just a very very very very very small segment of KW's persistent incompetence. haha, man you need a drink. Calm the hell down -

QUOTE (chunk23 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:28 AM) People are mad because KW traded away a very good young pitcher for an okay older pitcher, which is now being turned into a relief pitcher, while another team uses Jackson as the centerpiece to acquire a very good young outfielder. In other words, KW is mismanaging his resources and other GMs are taking advantage. Seems to me that people are freaking out that we couldn't just use Jackson for Rasmus as if that's gonna be the deal straight up. -

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:26 AM) The Sox are idiots if they are not thinking about trading Danks. Blow it all the way up if you must. Time to get some good prospects. Kyle Drabek better be coming through that door with Jason Frasor. Seriously? -

Are people really freaking out that the Jays will flip Jackson + Teahen for Rasmus? ...if they flip them for Rasmus I'd put it at about 1000% that they also include one of their top prospects which the Sox don't have any of. -

I just laugh that people state bulls*** like "guys are problems in the clubhouse" as if they're f***ing facts. Not a single person here can make that claim and using that as something to support an argument is comical. -

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 12:58 PM) Buster_ESPN Buster Olney No matter what happens with Colby Rasmus in the next five days, he's been devalued by the events of the last 10 days. It's too bad. How has he been devalued? He's playing pretty well?! His team/manager doesn't want him

QUOTE (heirdog @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 09:35 AM) Out. This team could scrape and claw and win the division and then get bounced in the first round...no thanks. World Series Championship or bust...not a battle for the weak AL Central title If we can get to the post season, our pitching can potentially shut down any team in the league. It's just the whole getting to the post-season part thats a bit of a problem.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 25, 2011 -> 04:36 PM) Unless the acquiring GM looks at Peavy's contract and realize he's injured at the time of the deal. People keep bringing this up like he was coming off Tommy John surgery....he had a f***ing bum ankle from running the bases and was 2 years removed from a Cy Young award.

QUOTE (shlammajamma @ Jul 25, 2011 -> 04:16 PM) Clayton Richard's 1.4+ whip every season sure is impressive Clayton Richard for Peavy (which is effectively what the trade ended up being) gets done 100% of the time.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 25, 2011 -> 03:33 PM) Holy money movement. Not a chance in hell, we'd end up taking on more money for just as s***ty of a player (soriano/rios).

If anything, Cutler is the anti-"stir stupid s*** up in the media" guy. He plays football and goes to the required press conferences, that is all as far as the public image goes. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 25, 2011 -> 03:04 PM) Jay Cutler lists himself as "single" on Facebook after stating football is "least of my worries". It's happening; I'm sort of starting to dislike Jay Cutler. Just play f***ing football. How could anyone possibly believe that was real? -
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 24, 2011 -> 12:07 PM) A free agent to be pitcher and Thornton , a 35 yr old guy making some very good cash. Jackson won't be resigning with and Sox and Thornton can be replaced by Santiago . We cut payroll, get younger and don't get worse. Tat should be the trade. No minor leaguers. Cards get a lot of pitching for playoffs /WS run that should mean a lot to them and lose a pain in the ass OF who may never be that good. And we want that?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 23, 2011 -> 12:29 PM) Those trades also helped set us up for the very bad 2007 season. Things sometimes look different with time. So if we had Bmac and Freddy, 2007 wouldn't have happened?

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 03:41 PM) Punk's promos the last month have been about as real as it gets in wrestling, not to mention they were about as good as any since...I don't even know but they were unbelievable. Like I said before, it's hard to explain if you don't follow too much but if you've ever read or followed any of the behind the scenes s*** that goes on and then listened to Punk the last month, you'd know why it's such a big deal. But that's the thing....if all the behind the scenes s*** was real, he wouldn't have won the match. If he was leaving the WWE, he wouldn't have won the belt last night so it's all just a storyline. If it was real it'd be cool I agree, but the fact that he won the belt means it's all just a part of the story. -

I haven't followed WWE since it stopped being good in the late 90's....but why is this such a big deal? I mean...it's all fake...Punk isn't really walking out with the belt. He wouldn't have won the match if he was really leaving, so I don't understand what all the fuss is about. -

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 11:32 AM) Wait, so anybody who thought they could beat the Packers last year was fooling themselves? Are you serious? Everytime the Bears and Packers play each other, it's a close game and it could go either way. The Packers beat the Bears by 7 points because of a pick-6 by the Bears 3rd string QB. GMAFB What they should have done was beat them in the last game of the Reg season to knock them out of the playoffs, but Martz has the Turner curse apparently with his s*** play calling. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 09:41 AM) I'd say 2 NFC title game appearances and 1 super bowl appearance is pretty serious. It's only a dynasty if you win your division every year and get blown out in the first round of the playoffs silly. -

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 04:17 PM) E-Jax (and some cash) for Rasmus. Rios for Lowe. Quentin for Beachy. Danks, Jordan Danks, Floyd to Pirates for prospects (preferably a 3B who can hit, to at least push Morel, a LHP, and a catcher. Or something of value). Throw in Flowers if that might get you a catching prospect. Resign Buehrle. The Pirates are gonna sell the farm because they have a winning record for the first time since the 1800's? Rios for Lowe straight up is never happening. The Braves are not going to take on MORE salary for a s***tier player.

QUOTE (chisoxt @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 03:46 PM) The warning signs for Peavy's injury-prone nature were evident well before the trade was made. For God's sake, he was on the DL the time the trade was made. As for now, Jake may still be in one piece, but barely. A more important question to ask is has he been an effective pitcher at a salary of $15 million? I would say no. He was on the DL for twisting an ankle running the bases....absolutely nothing to do with pitching. Had he accepted the trade the 1st time around, he wouldn't have been on the DL at all when we got him.
