  1. I think the numbers work for a Noah/Taj/+scraps (+bobcasts & our 1st rounders) for Howard trade as long as the CBA doesn't blow everything up. Man that'd be sick, I can't think of any team that can offer something like that other than the Lakers with Bynum
  2. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 08:38 PM) And the Sox have given us some optimism for tonight, so there's a relief. I was worried they were going to lose another 100 games in a row
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 10:10 AM) Remnants of 2008 and 2010. If we didn't have the miracle playoff run the last week (along with Minny collapse) in 2008 (along with the fortuitous coin flip) and the 26-5/38-13 spurt last year, you're right...it would be hard for even the staunchest optimists to use much more than the Cardinals/Astros/Rockies and the fact that it's the Royals/Indians and not the Twins/Tigers out in first and second. Yep, was a miracle run. Not like we were a freak wrist injury away from having an MVP batting 3rd in our lineup that year or anything.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 07:03 PM) My philosophy is that this year is the year for them to prove they should keep their jobs. If it's a bust, then see ya to both of them. Let Rick Hahn become GM, and go outside the organization for manager and hitting/pitching coach. I just want to know what more (of the things that have gone wrong) could they have done? Did you 100% honestly think going into the season that the defense was going to be bad? Nope, same defense as last year with a lateral move to Morel and a more experienced Beckham. Did you 100% honestly think going into the season the bullpen would be bad? Nope, losing Jenks was probably a positive. Sale looked legit, +1 year experience for Santos, Thornton is Thornton, and Crain. I just don't get it, what are Oz and KW to do when the team plays VASTLY below their averages? No gm or manager in the world can fix that, I don't see the point in stressing out over it.
  5. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 06:57 PM) I think it's a bad fan who gets suckered by a 25-5 streak into believing a team is a World Series contender. Not nearly as bad as assuming your team will have a historically bad bullpen and defense after 16 games.
  6. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 04:00 PM) There are surely people out there who are better suited to rebuild a franchise. I don't know any specific people, as I'm not in the baseball field. Just because we don't know a particular person does not mean they don't exist. There may be dozens of qualified baseball minds readily available to take this team in a different direction. The job of the front office is to find these people and put them in a position to steer this team in another direction. Not every new manager/GM has to be a retread that was driven out of another city. So...we trust the franchise to make the right selections, but only if those selections aren't KW or Oz. Got it.
  7. When is the scheduled date for the sky to fall? I can't wait to celebrate Quentin's 100th double of the season since that's what he's on pace for. I will never understand being a "fan" and looking at a team like this. Why even watch? Give the team you wait 6 months for to start 3 weeks and the seasons over, teams never go on streaks of like 25-5 or anything.
  8. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 02:01 PM) So would it be fair to say that it's almost a lock that the Kings will move to Anaheim next year? Don't know if its right, but Simmons said something about all the other owners voting on a "moving fee" and if they set the fee too high, the broke ass Maloofs would have to sell in order to move.
  9. I'd like to point out that the team with 2 bonafide closers on their roster just blew a save against the Rays and that "all I know is this type of s*** would never happen to the Twins". That is all.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 14, 2011 -> 08:18 AM) Seriously I quit reading when you extrapolated out blown saves over the course of a season. But that means Vizquel is gonna hit .455 this season!!! I'm pumped for that
  11. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 06:06 PM) This is the problem with the Sox. The bullpen is bad now, bad enough to screw the team even though the offense and starters are clicking. Soon enough, the bullpen will get hot, but the starters or the offense will then be so bad that they will become as insurmountable as the bullpen is now. Basing that on.....what exactly?
  12. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 04:37 PM) Good lord, please send him down to start. He clearly isn't doing anything positive for us in Chicago right now, might as well try to salvage him and try to continue his career path now. Haha, yesterday everyone was "SALE YES!!!!" and now he's the worst bullpen arm of all time and should be sent down. This place has an attention span of roughly 20 hours. Quite comical
  13. So...Ohman was the right move there? Humber? Grey? f***IN OZZZIEIEEEEEEE ohhh maahhhh gahhhh
  14. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 11:55 AM) In a wind blow USCF that doesn't mean it was smoked, not in the least. And for the 90th time, Matt looked like crap on Monday, no doubt but you can't really put the loss on him when it wasn't his doing that allowed the run to score. Wasn't his doing? How did that guy get on second? The dropped ball bad luck balanced out the pure luck of the 500mph rocket hit at Konerko.
  15. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 09:50 AM) And once again, I said that he looked bad on Monday, never denied that. I just have a hard time actually blaming him for the loss considering it wasn't his doing that allowed the run to score. With the way hitters are crushing him...do you really believe he would have made it out of that inning? I don't, and I love me some Thornton.
  16. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 09:30 AM) No. Yeah...CP3 was never in his life anywhere near the athlete Rose is.
  17. QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 12, 2011 -> 11:55 AM) Spend some time on Twins boards.... I think you'll find it "enlightening". Gardenhire gets the same type of respect there that Ozzie gets here. But he said BOTTOM LINE!
  18. QUOTE (Wanne @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 10:53 PM) Just went back and watched the 9th again (like an asshole)...but Thornton was F'd as soon as he rolled that 0-2 slider over the middle of the plate. You could see it in his face. And if Ozzie really defends either Thornton or Pierre...he's an idiot. Yeah he should criticize them in the media, that's what you like to see from a manager.
  19. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 06:26 PM) Than that only allows us to have 1 solid righty for all other situations. It's really the same scenario. I'd rather have 2 solid lefties for any situation and 1 righty than the other way around.
  20. I dream of Beckham-TCQ-Dunn-PK-Rios-Alexei all clicking at the same time. Brings a tear to my eye.
  21. I'd love Santos to be the closer simply because that frees up our 2 dominant lefties for any situation whether it be SU or simply getting out a 1 tough lefty (dump oh-man!'s ass) and still have Crain as well.
  22. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 11, 2011 -> 02:35 AM) We might have an extra reliever, but I don't see any top of the line pitchers signing a deal under 4 years with us. pfft, we'd have Aaron Poreda leading our rotation and Adam Russel crushing people in the 9th.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2011 -> 12:16 PM) Aside from one pitch by Matt Last night, he's been good this year so far too, by that standard. Sale got himself in trouble before that 3-1 pitch to Butler. Sale let the guy on base, Sale fell behind on Butler, Sale was really struggling to get the ball over, and he threw a get-me-over fastball that Butler destroyed. Ignoring Thorton's blown save against the Royals then?
