  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 05:54 PM) This is a different Twins team. They have the pitching and hitting to go up against anyone. Looks like the same s*** to me, how many years we been saying "man this twins team is scary" then they get trounced in the playoffs. I'll take the Yakdeez or Rays over them any day
  2. The worst part for me is watching the Twins get inevitably swept in the first round. They have absolutely no f***ing chance against any playoff team meanwhile if the sox could put their s*** together, our team would be scary in the playoffs.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:18 PM) If Pierre were to single, that pushes Beckham to 3b and either a ground ball to the right or a fly ball might score him. Pierre probably has a 50/50 shot of hitting a ground ball to the right side even if he were to swing away. so that's the reason? IF pierre gets a hit? Awesome. What about IF Alexei doesn't swing at a ball in the dirt? What about IF PK hits a gapper? So stupid
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) Ugh, OZZIEBALL! Konerko got a massive hanger, and couldn't do anything with it. Pena's in to blow this game open. Again, how is this ozzie's fault that 2 of the players (and 2 top hitters) failed? I don't understand the logic, its baffling. Was Pierre going yard?
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:05 PM) Yeah, how dare I want one of the best lefty relievers in baseball to face a lefty hitter! No its that you can't just pitch Thornton every f***ing inning of every game. Hell, he's been shaky lately anyway. You put wayyyy too much on Ozzie rather than players playing like s***.
  6. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 15, 2010 -> 04:02 PM) How about just let Thornton be the 1 man pen. You can't blame Ozzie when most of your pen sucks. I fear the day when Thornton's arm falls off because the pen sucks. Putz is now the new Linebrink. August, Sept. is the worst time for your pen to fail. Yep, Ozzie apparently can never make a correct move and Thornton should be pitching the 7-9 every game. A couple weeks ago it would have been "f***in Ozzie, Putz should be INNNN!!!!!"
  7. Putz cost himself several million these past couple days
  8. Old hot dog jones strikes again. You really do have some game left don't you? f***ing pathetic
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 14, 2010 -> 01:44 AM) He called it absolutely inexcusable so I'd like an explanation if anybody has one. Me thinks there was an overexaggeration there. An exaggeration on soxtalk? Unheard of
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 13, 2010 -> 10:23 PM) It's a big no-no health wise How is it any different than a starting pitcher warming up then the game getting delayed at the start and coming in? Happens all the time
  11. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Aug 11, 2010 -> 08:30 PM) "The Twins don't beat themselves" HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Punk b****es. We should all remember this game the next time we lose a tough one and everyone whines "This s*** only happens to the white sox!!!!"
  12. QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 11:10 PM) I just wish this team showed some fight and some balls at some point. For christ sakes...get riled up once in a while. I know I'm not in the clubhouse or dugout...but goddamn does this team come out flat a lot of the time. Sshhhhh shhhh shhhh, that would ruin our precious clubhouse chemistry!!!!!!
  13. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 10:30 PM) I'd be perfectly fine with a group of middling starters, if my offense and defense is assured to fill up a lot of that void. The Twins have that. They don't have superstars at every position, but what they do have is fairly dependable production from the key spots in their order. The Twins are as versatile, as the Sox want to be. And a first round sweep year in and year out. WOoooooooooo twinnnnnnssssss
  14. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 07:33 PM) Let's hope it's just 2-0 after this inning. Twins showing us why organizationally they are head and shoulders above us, we don't value a guy like Thome and for them he has fit in well during Morneau's absence. We cannot touch them with a 30 foot pole in this category Yeah that seals the deal, because Thome hitting a HR off of a below average picther. Calm the f*** down, jesus christ
  15. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Aug 10, 2010 -> 01:19 AM) This. I see a recurring pattern where the bats just disappear and this is really the same rehashed theme we have seen from 2009. I am not sure how many close games have been lost due to not capatilizing on RISP but it has surely affect Floyd's, Buerhle's, Danks', and Garcia's excellent outings on many occasions (Apart from blown saves). EJax last night was the victim of another anemic and pi** poor offensive showing. If we could get manny for the stretch run I would really like to see the Sox take a chance. But with Ozzie's bone headed line up decisions who knows how much playing time he would get, let alone the chemistry issues he might bring to the clubhouse. I say it is worth a gamble if it is possible. Not a chance in hell Kotsay would be playing over Manny f***ing Ramirez
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 11:30 AM) I'll never understand why it has to be one or the other. You can be a fan of the team, and involved in following them without needing to be extreme about it. Freaking out about everything doesn't make you more of a fan than the people who see only the positives, or vice versa. It almost gets to be a contest amongst the fans of each team to see who can out D-bag each other over who is more right, the optimists or pessimists. You can enjoy the game and the team, without needing to be an absolute homer or only expecting the worst. Being the loudest person doesn't mean anything. ^ That is the best post concerning this topic. Being to one extreme or the other is ridiculous, I think there's a lack of common sense and "we're the only f***ing team that this happens to!!!!" s***. Every team has horrible losses like we had. And we will have a few (hopefully not many) more through the rest of the season. This place is like dealing with a schizophrenic 8 year old sometimes: we go down 2 runs and the season is over, Oz is horrible, KW failed, Bobby is fat, etc etc. Go up 3 runs and we are setting up our playoff rotation. This has been probably the most entertaining season we've had in years, I'm going to enjoy it and not give myself a brain aneurysm over not pinch hitting one average hitter for another average hitter in one game or whatever other arm-chair GM move should have been made. We caught the Orioles at the absolute 100% worst time. Teams get a brief boost when they get a new manager/regime change. They just so happened to be trying for the first time in a while and we probably took this series too lightly. Split this one and take the Floyd/Danks games vs the Twinkles. If we lose 2 or 3 to them, then I'll get worried.
  17. QUOTE (Ranger @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 01:01 PM) It's really not bull****. The team as a whole didn't like him and he rubbed a LOT of players the wrong way -- veterans in particular -- and you could see tiny red flags during spring training that year. That's why he isn't here anymore. Ultimately, if you're getting under the skin of your teammates' and you aren't producing, you're probably no longer wanted. It's a perfect illustration that you simply cannot create good chemistry. It has to just happen. One of the reasons Swisher was acquired in the first place is because they thought he'd help keep things loose in the clubhouse (that, and they figured his offensive numbers would improve in this park). It didn't work out that way. Yep, he rubbed ornery old Dye the wrong way. Woopdeedoo. Must have been some pretty bad chemistry if we won the division. Who do we get to blame as ruining the chemistry last year? 07? 06? All BS. We gave up on him, dumped him for literally nothing when we could have at least given him a shot to get his value out of the basement. Horrible move all the way around and I'd gamble more money on everyone giving the "well well he was a horrible clubhouse guy!!!! yeah thats it!!!" than him actually being that bad or Ozzie plain not liking a guy who attracted attention to himself (I don't blame him)
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 10:44 PM) That's why I was asking and not stating. I wonder if he's worth the money or just an average guy. Maybe he's a one-inning guy. What is he? Worth what money? He isn't making anything and has been pretty damn good.
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 09:31 PM) Of course the Twins destroy the O's and we f***ing suck against them. We're running out of bad teams before we start facing Boston, New York, etc. The Twins lost to Cleveland....
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 09:26 AM) Would be the perfect RF/DH rotation with Carlos. Talk about RF arms...man we'd be stacked.
  21. QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 10:11 PM) Ozzie was on Swishers side early in the season. Everyone soon learned that he was a complete jacka** and no one on the team could stand him. Regardless of the stats, although his bad year made it worse, he had to go. He plays for the f***ing Yankees right now and everyone loves him. Thats f***ing bulls***. That team is the most uptight organization in baseball and he's fine there. The only move I've ever thought KW made horribly (dumping him, not trading for him.)
  22. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 04:07 PM) He's the fattest he's ever been, and he's terrible. They keep saying he's losing weight each offseason, but he gets larger each year. He looks the same to me. But the point is the same anyhow, if he did gain weight its not like it was 50lbs. He hasn't looked drastically different at any point, the only thing it affects is maybe some knee type problems, not his stuff.
  23. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 03:48 PM) I still disagree, as his "body type" is definitely a factor in his effectiveness. How so? Bobby was better when he was fatter. So he becomes less dominant as he loses weight?
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 02:51 PM) I really dislike Jenks more than Kotsay, because Bobby's just lazy...Mark is old and injured. And then Jenks get drilled on a hanger when he's locating his fastball everywhere he wants it...stupid stupid stupid. Linebrink? I'd love to hear what qualifies him for lazy. You spend time with the team much?
