  1. Viciedo is 21 years old, yes he's not a-rod. Can we give him a bit more time before he's a bust?
  2. One of the nice things about having a stud starting rotation is needing a slightly less lights out bullpen. If Putz and Jenks are healthy, I'm not worried about the pen at all with Thorton-Putz-Jenks to close out games
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 6, 2010 -> 03:51 PM) So if you were running the Bears, and you thought there would be no football in 2011, you would have fired everyone, paid a new staff to coach players not good enough, just so they learn the system and then sit out a year. Then a pretty big turnover, so they can get everyone on board with their system in 2012 and hopefully ready to compete in 2013? At least now if Lovie is shown the door, they have spent money on players and the team should be far better off with Lovie or another coach. BTW, Lovie is such an awful coach, he guided a team QB'd by Rex Grossman to the Super Bowl. The Bears D got them to a Superbowl and that D doesn't exist anymore yet lubbie's stubbornness still thinks it does. He refuses to admit to any mistakes until its too late to change anything. Lubbie will not take this team anywhere next year, and yes I would have hired a new staff. You're going to have to start over, and I'd rather start the process asap rather than wasting another year
  4. The McCaskeys cheapness means we keep lubbie and his crew of idiots around for another year instead of eating the money and starting over. You waste another year since the team will still suck ass, then you have your lockout and then you start rebuilding in '12. Spend some money in FA to appease the majority of your fanbase even though your team will still fail. Chicago Bears: The Cubbies of the NFL
  5. QUOTE (T R U @ Mar 5, 2010 -> 09:43 PM) No, they shouldn't have.. it doesn't matter who you sign or trade for, you aren't going to build a winning franchise in the NFL without those front end draft picks.. especially when you consider they already don't even pick till round 3 as it is.. Right, since the Bears have had such awesome front end draft picks the past few years. Peppers and Boldin are better than any 1st or 2nd round pick they would have made anyway (and probably not that much more expensive)
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 10:38 PM) Honestly, I see where that's coming from, but are there that many teams that draft well, sign a guy to a big, early draft contract, and then stay mediocre for years? The real guys who get hurt are the guys who draft busts, and is that really that different from spending big bucks to sign an FA bust? Huh? No player who hasn't played a pro-snap should be the highest paid player at his position. There's no argument, its the dumbest system in sports
  7. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Feb 20, 2010 -> 10:00 PM) So who is Pierre replacing in the lineup then...Quentin? How do you replace someone that's still in the lineup? Q replaces Dye, Pierre replaces Pods, Rios replaces poop, Jones/Kotsay replaces Thome, Teahan replaces Getz. Is it really that complicated?
  8. QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 09:54 PM) Although the idea of getting rid of these contracts is a great idea for the future, you might want to look at what's happening now. You don't just want to throw this season away. Kirk's a pretty big part of the team now that Salmons is gone. You want somebody in return who can replace a good amount of his production. I don't know if Morrison is capable of that. Personally couldn't care less about this season. Its nice and all, but I don't care about keeping this team together so we can get bounced in the first round again. All-in for the off-season, its the only chance this team has at becoming a legit contender. Dump every contract you can and go all out with max deals to 2 of the big guys
  9. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 16, 2010 -> 07:26 PM) You're taking one hell of a chance though. You better guarantee me we're signing 2 of the elite free agents(obviously including Bosh) if we let go of Noah in that kind of deal. Have to risk it. Bosh + Rose looks a s***load better to Wade/LBJ than Noah + Rose. And if you don't sign either, you're still better off with Bosh over Noah.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 11, 2010 -> 08:25 PM) I'm just worried that a lot of that better-ness may be related to the Yankee stadium. Like it or not, he's actually quite a bit older than Kotsay. Still doesn't matter, any ballpark, any city, any day: Damon is better.
  11. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Feb 11, 2010 -> 08:03 PM) Damon's not all that He is better than Kotsay and Vizquel. Argument ends there
  12. And you'd have to spend a decent amount of money for a proxy fast enough to handle streaming video. Just buy a slingbox and get a buddy with a cable box to hook it up
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 26, 2010 -> 01:13 AM) There's one other factor here, too. Mitchell and Jordan Danks BOTH profile as better CFers than corner outfielders, the presence of Alex Rios in CF theoretically blocks both of those guys. Then you move Rios to RF where he will be just as good. By the time those 2 guys are ready, we could realistically have 2 spots open in the OF (Pierre gone, Q to DH). He isn't blocking anybody.
  14. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 07:55 PM) im sorry my grammer and "syntax" isnt correct on a sports fan site "lol" i'll try to spell everything out in full from now on. wow, u know exactly what i was saying and ur complaining about it, must be really mad thome isnt coming back "lol" yea but we should take people serious who wanted to fire ozzie after every sox loss last year , ha Typing like that makes you sound like a 12 year old who just got on AOL for the first time, sorry. Once I stopped typing like that, my wpm also increased dramatically. Its really pointless, but whatever floats your boat.
  15. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 07:42 PM) well heres a question for u, kinda interested in what u think: do u really think ozzie wants/likes this whole rotating dh thing with the current guys stated? maybe he just didnt want thome back(bcuz of what he'll give u at this stage in his career). meaning, lets say adrian gonzalez didnt play the field. if kenny came up to ozzie and said that hey, we can get this guy, u want him? do u really think ozzie would say no? (i dont, i think he'll happily take his production) Its not even a question of that. Its pretty simple: will Thome be a better hitter than Kotsay, Jones, and Vizquel? Yes, Probably, and Yes. Pretty simple conclusion for me unless he was asking for more than 2 million which I doubt. Would he make or break the season? No, but would he be a guaranteed better option that what we currently have? 100% yes. All there is to it.
  16. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 07:33 PM) NO Thome No Jim Thome this year... http://twitter.com/SoxNet WOAH, how'd you find your sources so quickly? So, Kotsay + Jones now HAS to work. Fannnnntastic
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 06:18 PM) I'm surprised by how many kickers have choked and helped cost their teams games (Graham/Kaeding) or almost cost their teams (Rackers)... Really makes you appreciate Solid Gould
  18. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jan 13, 2010 -> 12:16 PM) Be glad you do not live in Chciago the commentary around here regarding the Bears coaches and the organization is just plain sad. The nugget I heard today was that Ron Turner was told by Lovie that he was fired because the defense was the fall guy last year......great rationale. Turner felt that if he was to go, everyone should go. Also the restraints placed on the coordinators are making them bigger puppets, especially on offense, then they were in the past. They are not even looking at legitmate candidates anymore, just guys that can fit into what Lovie wants done. I am not sure either coordinator they are looking at now has ever been part of a winning team. I am not talking about winning the superbowl, I am talking about winning one playoff game in their current positions. The Jim Haslett conversations were disheartining as he is the kind of guy that could have turned the defense around. Viable options are dropping out or not even interviewing left and right. Oh and Tommy Harris has let everyone know he will be a beast next year........the only way I see this happening is if it is a contract year. Lubbie is the smartest coach in football and will never change anything. The bears like to wait...and wait....and wait to do anything. Lubbie refuses all ideas, all criticism and anything that he didn't think of himself. This D is busted and was WORSE than the offense this year and shouldn't be running that style anymore. Tommy Harris has said he will "be a beast" for the last 3 years, he took his money and turned off his work ethic. This team is such a disaster its disgusting. And with horrible ownership, its never going to get better. You can't keep a s*** staff together just cause you like the coach as a person. We desperately need to hire a "president" like Miami, Cleveland, etc have done. Someone who understands f***ing football should be in charge of football decisions. Until then, the bears will be the cubbies of football: never a real contender, but the team is too popular for anyone to really care.
  19. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jan 3, 2010 -> 12:53 PM) Gavin Floyd and spects for Adam Dunn oh how id love that, Adam Dunn would make the cell look like a little league field 1 year of Dunn for 4 years of Floyd AND prospects? Christ no
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 3, 2010 -> 12:54 PM) If guys who can put up Konerko's numbers are a dime a dozen, how come the Sox current DH is Jones/Kotsay? They're not a dime a dozen, but they are also certainly not 12 million dollar players either
  21. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 1, 2010 -> 08:39 PM) Did Arenas really need the money that badly? Other way around
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 31, 2009 -> 12:29 PM) Jeter's ball flip in game 3 of the 2001 ALDS was the play of the decade, IMO. If they put Jeter's foul-into the stands catch in over Uribe the list is meaningless.
  23. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 29, 2009 -> 11:40 AM) I'd have to debate acquiring McGrady. You get huge cap space next year, but I want to look as good as possible this year for FA's. Yeah....thats already lost. Might as well get the cap space and dump Deng's atrocity of a contract
  24. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 29, 2009 -> 12:13 AM) I'm tired of his mental lapses when it comes to timeouts and challenges. You know, for a conservative coach, he certainly uses timeouts and challenges liberally and stupidly. We could have had almost a minute on the clock if he used timeouts at the end of reg. We could have (if JC wasn't actually hurt) taken a shot at the endzone instead of settling for a p**** FG like we always do. So sick of that s***, go for the endzone one time, its not that difficult or dangerous. If the long ball isn't there it isn't there and you throw it away.
  25. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 29, 2009 -> 12:07 AM) Devin Aromashodu - damn he was good. Maybe Hester getting hurt and getting Aromashodu playing time might have been the best thing to happen to the Bears this year. Honestly...probably is, only competition could be finally ridding this team of Turner and possibly Lubbs Attn Lubbie: Your timeouts do not carry over. Its a f***ing disgrace when you end a game with 3 timeouts (1 called for stupidity). Tired of his p**** football, keep playing it safe lubbs, its workin
