  1. Dammit if they give up a young controlled piece for Machado and don't resign him...
  2. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 07:37 PM) Except the risk in this scenario is significant with a very real chance of just pissing away assets. If the Orioles agree to trade Manny in December it's going to cost very significant assets, not lesser prospects that we see as expendable all for the opportunity to hope Manny does the Sox a solid and limits his future earnings 2 months away from free agency because he really likes "Sox culture". It's in no way a risk worth taking. And if Manny has a down 1st half or something its a huge loss. If they gave up anyone in our top 15 I'd be pissed at this point
  3. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 07:23 PM) Call me crazy, but I’d do Rutherford & an arm like Adams for Machado without an extension. Doesn’t seem like it would be enough, but maybe the Orioles are obsessed with Blake for some reason. Unless the plan is to then flip Machado at the deadline to a team in contention this would be the dumbest move we could possibly make right now.
  4. Can only see him going to a small-market team on the edge of contending next year that has 0% shot at signing him long term for a light package. No team that's going to sign him long term is going to trade anything of value when they can get him for straight cash 1 year later.
  5. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 4, 2017 -> 04:50 PM) Where would the Bears draft if the season ended today and what’s realistically the best pick we can get? 6th right now. Need Eli and Jimmy G to win some games down the stretch. Browns 0-12 NYG 2-10 SF 2-10 Denver 3-9 Indy 3-9 Chicago 3-9
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 30, 2017 -> 04:18 PM) If there is anyone on this team I don't mind going five years for, it is Abreu. He seems to pretty much be a machine outside of a small amount of time where he was dealing with personal problems.. and Aprils. 5 years from now or 5 years when he's a FA? I don't want them locking up guys in their mid-30's to giant contracts, especially at 1b where the Sox may have a logjam of hitters at.
  7. Wait the Slugger is a vote? I thought it was purely statistical. That's stupid.
  8. Has Greg posted at all since this has gone down? hmmmmm
  9. Meanwhile we hope for 200IP from Rodon between 2018-2020
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 31, 2017 -> 04:54 PM) Umm, Aaron Goldhammer‏Verified account @HammerNation19 49m49 minutes ago Grossi says that apparently the Browns were celebrating their trade and forgot to call in the deal before the deadline... The Browns win...but it's still a photo finish
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 31, 2017 -> 04:23 PM) Just when you start to think the Bears are the biggest clown show in the NFL, the Browns are always there to bail the Bears out. It's a photo finish
  12. QUOTE (ptatc @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 05:57 PM) It has nothing to with money. It's desire and appropriate personality. Ventura had those (although sometimes the desire was questioned). AJ does not. Could not disagree more. Ventura had to be talked into managing.
  13. QUOTE (ptatc @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 07:06 PM) Why is that too bad? It's good for people who want to go to games in September. Because it makes season tickets a massive waste of money unless they make the playoffs.
  14. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 03:41 PM) Rick was never an organization guy. Ozzie and Robin were. Big difference. If Robin wasn’t a great white sox player he would’ve been gone way sooner. never even been considered for manager Fixed
  15. I'll be doing the math on season tickets in 2019 which should hopefully be a playoff run: Overpaying for seats on a season ticket plan + face value playoff tix vs. stub-hubbing everything. I think the stub hub plan would end up being cheaper ultimately until they start drawing crowds.
  16. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 02:33 PM) I have PS Vue and will vouch for it, very good service. $45 a month gets me NBC Sports Chicago and any channel I'd ever be interested in watching with the exception of WGN which blows. Plus an extra $10 a month for RedZone. Also no contract. I think all of the providers have NBC sport networks now, not sure if the stupid blackout rules still apply though. Sling, Hulu, YoutubeTV, DirectTV, Vue, Fubo
  17. QUOTE (ptatc @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 01:56 PM) I don't think he'll manage. Dangle enough money and he will. See: Ventura, Robin
  18. Sox next manager is really just a countdown till Thome or AJP are ready.
  19. I was about to post that there should be 2 more 1 game wildcards but then looked at the standings and those 4 new teams woulda all be under .500 which is stupid. I'd prefer the wildcard to be a 3 game series & seed playoffs based on record (division winners still get in but could be wildcard if they were in a s*** division). Playing 162 games to have it come down to 1 is a bit crazy + doesn't give the #1 seed that big of an advantage
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 11:28 AM) This is basically how he explained it We traded away Deng and traded away money. We had 5 guys on our board for second round and they were all gone when that pick came up We decided to trade that pick for 3.5M to save for some future player(ie. build equity) Bell was never a consideration. They didnt want to make a pick because they didnt scout anyone besides those 5 players. Considering they are rebuilding, that is unconscionable. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2017/10/19/bul...uity-ownership/ My rule is still "If a really smart, good team is suggesting a trade with you, maybe you actually have an asset and need to second guess yourself"
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 01:23 PM) I'm not sure 24, 25, or 26 makes the product better or worse...but here's what they could do... Get creative when it comes to service time and using your own 40-man roster throughout the season, and submit a daily 22-man roster. The term "September Callup" needs to go away forever. The product needs to be consistent from Day 1 to Day 186. I just think bigger roster = ability to keep 1 dimensional players on the team or better bullpens.
  22. Nothing really riles up the 3rd worst attendance in the league like s***ty ticket packages and higher priced games. Business 101
  23. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 19, 2017 -> 01:30 PM) I think people's response around why Bears/Sox would car is whether it would even affect them as Soldier field would be Chicago Park District and GRF would be Illinois Sports Facilities Authority. I assume the franchises get some kind of cut/revenue from concerts even though the stadiums are "owned" by others. Could be wrong
