QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Oct 8, 2008 -> 09:07 PM) I think Pauly will be traded. Although he didn't have the greatest season, he brought his value back up when he finished strong and had a solid series vs Tampa. I like Swish as our everyday 1b. Swisher cant get much worse offensively. Hitting at the 8th spot should do him well next year. The only 2 places PK will go is LA or AZ. I really dont think AZ has much to offer and they are not trading one of there young starters. We need a 3b or 2b. I think if we can get Figgins from the Angels in some sort of package, we have our 3b. Then all we would have to do is sign Hudson or trade for Roberts and we have our 1-2 punch! I think this trade can happen for 2 reasons. 1. Texiera is likely sign a HUGE deal with New York or San Fran 2. Pauly loves Scocia and vice versa 3. KW loves Figgins, so does Ozzie. And when Kenny loves a player, he usually ends up getting them eventualy. (Thome, Griffey, Alomars, Everett- twice etc....) Hmm I wonder if KW can somehow get really tricky and involve Vazquez also. Like some sort of monster deal for Figgins, E. Santana, Mathews. Konerko, Vazquez, Fields for Figgins, Santana, Mathews. That would help both teams quite a bit. LA unloads Mathews contract, they get their 1b and a big time strike out pitcher. We fill up our needs, another young SP, an every day true CF, and a 3b who can hit lead off. Okay im rambling on and on but this makes sense to me. Chone Figgins 3b Orlando Hudson 2b Carlos Quentin LF Jermain Dye RF Jim Thome DH Alexie Ramirez SS AJ Pierzynski C Nick Swisher 1b Gary Mathews CF Now thats a STRONG lineup. Rotation: Buerhle, Santana, Danks, Floyd, Richard/Contreras (Maybe even go after an older veteran like Lowe or even give Garcia another shot, he looked impressive vs us last monday) I think if that were to happen, the angels GM would be burned at the stake in the middle of LAA stadium.

QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Oct 8, 2008 -> 03:59 PM) You missed the point. We had record attendance in 2006 due to '05. And all that extra money bought us... 2007? It was essentially the same team + injuries + career lows for everyone. Nothing to do with the money.

QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 05:45 PM) Really? Not a single team would offer something for a OF or 1B despite his down year? Does Swisher have the right to demand a trade because he was traded in a multiyear deal, or is it something with his arbitration years? I think it's worth talking about since the Sox have a logjam. Yeah, a team would, the f***ing white sox. We already have him and already gave up prospects for him, so dumping him after an off year for next to nothing is about the dumbest idea ever.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 08:32 AM) people here are just sour on OC b/c he's a rental player. you train yourself early not to get attached. the contract negotiation and the scioscia thing are these minor little details that become huge fodder for building this horrible impression of him in your mind. no he's not the most noble guy; few athletes are. plenty of guys have that smug attitude and have been beloved by the fans. frankly, race plays a factor as well. a white guy can have that smugness and it's seen as tough, not as 'overly brash' Not really. I hated him because he seems like a jackass. Name one "white" guy on the team with that same attitude and I'll hate him too. The only exception given to guy like that is if he is an amazing player, which OC showed he is not.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 10:18 AM) Well the reason Boston gave up on him was because apparently he was a party animal in the Kyle Orton-Chris Duhon kind of way. So he was a neck-beard douchebag that tried to get free drinks at the bar?

Some people on this board should start investing. Buy Swisher at a high price of 3 top prospects (for us at least) and then sell him at the lowest possible value he could ever have. We'd make millions!!!!! Dye has to go. Of Konerko/Thome/Swish/Dye, Dye has the highest value and the only person that could even be traded. That free's up a corner spot for swish, PK at 1B, Thome at DH. Remove BA from the doghouse or sign/trade for a CF, sign/trade for a 3B, sign/trade/prospect for 2B. Bingo bango.

QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 09:01 PM) If you can find a taker for Swisher, I wouldn't mind seeing him go. Let Crede walk. See if the Rangers want Vagquez. Want to sign some kind of speed. And a good 4th or 5th starter. I think the market for bullpen help will be insane, and I also think the pen was okay compared to the rest of the league. so you trade 3 prospects for swisher, and then trade swisher at the lowest possible value he could have. I'll pass.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 05:21 PM) Kenny gets a big fat F as far as the Griffey trade goes. It was your typical make a move just to make a move type deal. Yeah, man we'd be in this f***ing game with Richar and Masset. God dammmmmit. -

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 04:04 PM) it is 3-0. called it. gonna be 4-0, and the game will be over. congrats, you're the coolest. -
QUOTE (MAX @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 01:41 PM) Its pretty ridiculous to assume one knows so very much that they can't possibly know. That's basically what everyone is doing. So are you arguing that he doesn't suck and he does care?
-
QUOTE (MAX @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 12:01 PM) All of you people saying he doesn't care must have missed or are intentionally ignoring his confrontation with AJ. He was fired up, he just sucks. That was more likely AJ telling him to stop being a pooshy and him responding that he isn't one and has 30 million dollars.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 6, 2008 -> 12:03 PM) I have given up trying to spell it correctly, so I go with phonetically

once the season is over, they need to submerge Danks into a block of ice or cryogenicly freeze him to avoid any injuries. Burrly-Danks-Floyd is a pretty nasty 123.
-
He is booed because he doesn't seem to care. He'll give up 7 and get taken out in the 5th, calmly walk back to the dugout and sit on the bench like nothing happened. Burrly had some bad outings this year, but not a chance in hell you'd see him booed because you know he left it all out there (and he attacks the heater with a bat )

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 5, 2008 -> 06:07 PM) So essentially you are saying that you have to get hits and walks to score runs and that if you don't you don't score runs. easy there Madden.

QUOTE (MO2005 @ Oct 4, 2008 -> 10:45 AM) So Kenny wanted Torii, he wanted Miggy Cabrera, and Renteria. So let's say he got these players along with Quentin and Ramirez. What do you think this lineup would of been able to do? ALDS? ALCS? World Series? Renteria Pierzynski Quentin M. Cabrera Dye Hunter Thome Konerko Ramirez we would have been worse off. You wan Cab as a 3rd baseman? Where would he have started the season with crede healthy? Q wouldn't have gotten a shot with hunter in the mix and we probably wouldn't have one of Floyd or Danks since those are the trading chips people would have wanted. What about the 40 million dollar man fukadome? KW did as much as he could, and we went from 72 wins to a division title. I'll take that any year.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 04:13 PM) Your team for what? You want to get rid of 90 HR's and replace them with what? Are the Sox moving away from the Cell? those / mean or, not and. Get rid of one of them. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:10 PM) It was a legit post. Absolutely no reason for you to post this. Really? I've see "trade Quentin, sign manny, trade thome" None, 0, nun of those are even remotely possible. You really want manny on this team? Nobody is going to take Thome unless we pay his entire salary. And I wont even respond to trading a 26 year old MVP. Stupidity, turn the game off, we won the AL central with 3/4ths of a team. There will be no fire sale. Stop posting, calm the hell down, take a breath and grab a beer.
-
QUOTE (That funky motion @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 08:05 PM) Why not trade Dye and sign Manny? hahahahah, man this place turns into a freak show during a loss. Do you guys call in to the score with these retarded ideas too?

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 3, 2008 -> 04:27 PM) I just can't get over Swisher over Wise and Thome over Griffey DHing. I think with Kazmir's wildness of late might be the reason Thome is in there, but I can't fathom why Swisher is in there. So the wildness means Thome is in for walks......does swisher not walk more than Wise? I was assuming that 3 run homer bought Wise a starting job for the rest of the series, thank god it did not. Get em Swish.

Find a way to get rid of PK/Thome/Dye. Use Swish to fill in whatever gap is left by those guys. Sign a middle IF and keep an eye out for a CF'er since this franchise hates BA. Sign a SP, get some RP from somewhere other than KC and you got your team.
