  1. someone please get the farmer audio of that GS
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 07:17 PM) After Floyd made the error on the throw down the line in the 6th...he went out to the mound and calmed him down instead of replacing him, which would have been the knee-jerk, chewing and chomping on the gum reaction. The pitchers have all learned to appreciate that you have to fail repeatedly (like Logan) before Ozzie truly loses confidence in you. Not only did Gavin leave the game feeling he accomplished something and righted the ship after the slip, he also got his 17th win. Amazing totals for our "fifth" starter. Good work KW! Too bad Garcia had to go out with an injury, he pitched a very gutsy game. I was getting a sinking feeling that it would be somehow "karma" that he would beat the youngster who we acquired to replace him. Ozzie also did the same thing with Garland. If you noticed, we're really set up well if we can just get through Minnesota. Dotel, Linebrink and Carrasco are all getting some confidence back and the team actually is looking like it's capable of putting a nice streak together again. Heck, maybe Ken Griffey, Jr., will get back another gear and show an amazing capacity to patrol CF in the Trop just like in the Kingdome. Farmer's call on Ramirez GS..."Oh my God, he goes deep again!" Nice to see Uribe, Dye, Buerhle, AJ and Konerko all looking good down the stretch...shades of 2005 again? I'm not going to even think about the Cubs in the WS, we have to beat the Twins first...but it's nice to have hope again after Saturday. Of course, the Twins can rise again and crush our spirits, but I just want to see/hear a great game and hopefully Danks can also man up to follow Buehrle and Floyd. That also reminds me of 05, the way the pitchers would push each other and one start seemed to boomerang with a continued run of success. but...but...when the sox lose, Ozzie is the worst manager ever still, right?
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 04:22 PM) I just pictured Gardenhire sitting on his couch wrapped in a blanket holding a cup of hot cocoa yelling "s***!!!" He's probably making a list and checking it twice. Because he looks like Santa.
  4. Man if JD finally found his stroke and PK stays hot....Quentin who?
  5. atta baby. get to fab five freddy early so its no pressure. Score in MORE THAN ONE INNING.
  6. In all honesty, I'd rather see Richard out there instead of big-game Javi. Or at the very least, platoon those 2 guys: first 3 for Javi then next 3-4 for Richard.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 12:07 AM) If we can't beat the Tigers in our home stadium when they are in last place and having a bad month we don't deserve to move on. It's in the Cell and we have much to play for and they nothing. I know it's baseball and anything can happen as we found out this past 2 weeks. But if we can 't beat the Tigers of this year, we deserve to sit home or in Oz's case flee. Did you read he's planned his getaway in case we lose. He doesn't want to see dejected fans at Midway or O'Hare so he's thinking about a private plane or driving to Milw. to get out. Why would he? He is apparently the worst manager in the history of the white sox. Not his fault he only has a 2 man bulpen and no hitters.
  8. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Sep 28, 2008 -> 11:48 PM) Should we start Javy on short rest? I would vote for not starting Javi ever on any rest.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 28, 2008 -> 10:08 PM) Oh s*** ... Selfish Sheff is gonna be bombing for the fences. This is really not good news. This Freddie thing is also not good. Oz has already texted him. Freddie is gonna want blood. Is that sarcasm?
  10. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 28, 2008 -> 04:43 PM) Whoever can get a few solid innings. Which is nobody. Its Floyd for at least 7 strong or a loss
  11. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 28, 2008 -> 04:02 PM) We need a 3 game wiining streak in the worst way. Pull Floyd tomorrow after 4 if you have to. And put in who? Carasco?
  12. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 28, 2008 -> 03:58 PM) With the way this staff has been used down the stretch, there is no way you can go to a 3 man. With the way javi has pitched in big games, there is no way you can throw him out there.
  13. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 28, 2008 -> 03:56 PM) Ain't happening. - In fact, he'd go Gm 1 of the ALDS @ TB. Why not? You think anyone on the sox coaching staff or even AJ trusts Javi? There is enough time in between games for a 3 man rotation.
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 28, 2008 -> 03:55 PM) I think they would be dumb not to throw Liriano, but I know nothing about recovering from Tommy John. Slowey is hurt, i think Blackburn would be pitching for him. Story on mlb.com
  15. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 28, 2008 -> 03:49 PM) So, you don't want them to make the playoffs then? 3 man rotation. Breaks in between games, I do not want to see Javi in a playoff game.
  16. QUOTE (tommy @ Sep 28, 2008 -> 03:45 PM) IT would be Gavin vs Freddy tomorrow? and who on Tuesday? anyone but javi. I hope to never see him pitch again in a sox uni
  17. Buehrle vs. Javi: the difference between a full nutsack and an empty one.
  18. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Sep 27, 2008 -> 10:34 PM) poor managing Damned if you do, damned if you don't. You have a better chance with 3-day Burhle than 27 day Richard.
  19. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Sep 27, 2008 -> 10:26 PM) Speed isn't the answer. Balance is. Slow sure as f*** isn't the answer either, that's what we have right now I agree, at least 75% anyway. The other 25% is that the offense has been really bad for long periods of time, which killed our starting pitchers and bullpen I'll take a slow slugger over a speedster who hits .200 any day. If you can find a guy who is fast, gets on base, and plays decent D, then I'm all for it. But just "getting fast guys" isn't going to change s***.
  20. QUOTE (almagest @ Sep 27, 2008 -> 09:23 PM) I love these threads that blame our "HR or nothing" offense for this losing streak, yet in the past three games we've scored 6, 8, and 6 runs, yet lost all 3. Really the only game we had a chance in & our offense let us down on this losing streak was the second game in Minnesota. You can argue the third Minnesota game was also the offense's fault because they didn't score after the 4th, but the pitching staff blew a 5 run lead. You can't do that and expect to win. hey hey, slow down there chief. Don't bring logic and facts into arguments here. Without the "HR or nothing" topic, there would be like 5 posts on this board.
  21. sigh, i love how the answer to all our problems is "speed". Owens is fast....why is he not the answer? Maybe because he can't f***ing hit the ball out of the infield. We scored enough runs to win the last 2 games, and didnt score enough to win the last 2 in minny. And why is the season over? The twins haven't looked any better than we have, and *gasp* there in the THUNDERDOME THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO WIN IN. Find a way to get something for one of Thome/Konerko/Dye. Move Swish to RF, give BA a chance, aquire a 2b/ss who can leadoff, get urbie back for cheap, find more bulpen. But no matter what, injuries killed this team, nothing else.
  22. QUOTE (almagest @ Sep 27, 2008 -> 12:10 PM) We can't do that. Trading one-dimensional power for one-dimensional speed only works in that cement dome. It won't work in USCF. saaaaarrrrrrrcaaaaaasssssssmmmmmmmmmm So geniuses here want to trade Jenks and or Thorton hmmm? Sounds like a swell idea, our bullpen definitely has the depth to not need either of those 2 guys.
  23. QUOTE (gosox41 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 10:25 PM) Injuries are part of the game and not good excuses. Sure losing Quentin hurts. But ws losing him the reason Dye (before tonight) hasn't hit a homer since late August? Was losing CQ the reason future HOFer Thome has disappeared this month? How about AJ's slump the last couple of weeks? CQ again? Yeah, they're not good excuses, they're answers, reasons, explanations etc. Losing Q means less protection for the other guys in the lineup. Take Morono out of the Twins lineup, how do you think they would do? The reason we do not have a 5+ game lead right now is due to injuries and injuries alone. The number of games lost due to no Q, no Linebrink, no Jenks, no Contreras, no Crede = well over 5 games. Maybe if we only lost Wise or Ozuna for a couple months, you can say "oh injuries are just part of the game"...but not with those losses. The Twins had injuries, but nowhere near the extent we did.
  24. Dear KW, Please don't ever do this to us again. Don't put together a team that competes for 160 games near or in first place. It was obviously your fault that Swisher and his worst career year and that Thome and PK slumped for 5 months. All you need to do is sign a bunch of fast guys, trade Macdougal and Wasserman for Chone Figgins, it shouldn't be too difficult, I did it in MLB 2k8 no problem. Trade Bobby Jenks for someone like Carlos Gomez, we have enough depth in the bullpen to cover for him. Enroll in medical school so you can heal our best hitter, bullpen arm, all-star 3rd baseman and starter. And whatever you do, don't acquire any more MVP's or ROY candidates. Invest in fast guys who hit .220, that's where the division championships are made. Follow the lead of those "pesky piranhas" and build a team that scratches its way to playoffs and gets swept every year. Signed, Clueless fan base overreacting to losing. Apparently people took this seriously? WTF?
  25. QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 26, 2008 -> 10:30 PM) do they show the southwest airlines commercial with krazy eyez killa in every commercial break? MotherFcker what the Fck? Motherfcker what the Fck? I thought we was Cool de La?
