  1. QUOTE (zenryan @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 10:03 PM) ok boys. time to get off this site. Tomorrow is going to drag while waiting for first pitch. Nothing more can be said so lets all go our different ways and just hope for the best tomorrow night. haha, good luck with that. I predict by 6:55 pm tomorrow, there will be ~25 threads about how this team needs to be blown up/destroyed/moved to a different city/ etc.
  2. QUOTE (goAlexei!! @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 09:58 PM) To be perfectly honest I would prefer to be out of it all season than to go out this pathetic way. To be blunt firings must occur. I don't know of who but this is just unacceptable. Well then you suck as a fan. Switch over to the Pirates if you want to watch that kind of baseball.
  3. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 09:27 PM) Let me guess, you're wearing your "This thing isn't over" hat aren't you? no, but im not going to overreact and throw a hissy fit over a team, who was supposed to be s***, fall off due to injuries. You can say "oh f*** injuries" all you want, but no team is going to be the same when you lose an MVP, both all-stars, a starter, and 2/3 of the solid bulpen staff. Injuries like those are not excuses, they are explanations IMO.
  4. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 25, 2008 -> 03:21 PM) I can recall some horrible calls in the playoffs, mainly in the ALDS and WS. And it's not hard to sit on the bench and let your starters throw four straight CG's. Ozzie is to Ditka as Cooper is to Ryan. The former two are the guys who get all the credit and are way overrated, and the latter two are the guys who deserve the majority of the credit but get none. hahaha, i love it. So you either get 0 credit and "didn't do all that much" when your team goes 11-1 in the playoffs and when your team sucks its all your fault. What would be a good manager? One that doesn't win a WS, but plays BA over Griffey and loses anyway?
  5. that was = to being killed by a pin. Just stabbing you over and over and over and over
  6. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 03:26 PM) IMHO, KGJ and Nick Swisher do nothing better than Brian Anderson and Brian Anderson does things better thna both of them. Carry on. Oh and Ozzie is not having a good month either. uhhhhhhhhh, I hope you mean offensively?
  7. QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 02:32 PM) if everyone is so confident we will lose then why even log on or watch the game. Saying we are 10% to win 1 of 2 games in minn is outrageous. welcome to soxtalk, enjoy your stay!
  8. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 02:59 PM) ok and do you know what section the stadium club seating is? 300? there is no stadium club seating outside the restaurant/bar area. You can have tickets in section 534 and sit in the SC if you wanted.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 01:32 PM) Sure, if this team actually thought they could compete with Jerry Owens as their leadoff hitter, then shame on them. yeah they should have just traded gio+josh fields for Ichiro or something.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 02:08 PM) Expect another beatdown. Then if we win you'll be surprised and happy. I got bad vibes. Losing game one was not a good idea. or expect to lose and b**** about it, so just in case they do lose, you can say "Seeeeee!!!! I told you we suck!!!"
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 02:16 PM) No, that wasn't who he was talking about, as he said the two OBP guys that were acquired both were disappointing this season. I thought he meant OC, and I pointed out this his OBP was mediocre in his career. ok, you caught me red handed. Will you address any other points or just stick with that one? And he still brought in OC to fill a need at SS. So while it wasn't OBP, it wasn't just for s***s and giggles.
  12. yeah, i say we definitely go 0-5 for the rest of the season.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 10:40 PM) Who were these OBP players we brought in besides Swisher? Please tell me you weren't saying OC and his career .322 OBP was included i that. Also, Swisher loses any value he might have as a solid offensive contributor by putting him at first base. KW failed to get this team what it really needed....a leadoff hitter! They thought they had one in J.O. Swisher plays RF/LF while we get rid of one of PK/JD/Thome then. He made a run at Hunter, Rowand, Fukindome, etc. What more did you want him to do? And you cannot respond with "well we should have just traded a couple guys for X leadoff hitter" because nobody here knows a single damn thing that happens in the front office. But in the end, this is a team that has been in 1st place for a good majority of the season. Despite injuries to key players, they have hung in there. So despite whatever emotional outburst people have after each loss, you're still b****ing about a 1st place team.
  14. THIS.TEAM.IS.DEAD ohhhhh nooooooeeeeessss. About 75% of this board should just stop watching/reading/listening to the sox until friday. Save yourselves the grief.
  15. how many rings do those pesky piranhas have? If given the choice between 4 first round sweeps in the playoffs or 1 ring? I'll take the ring every f***in time. The twins play 82 games in that stupid stadium, which benefits from speedy guys who slap the ball around. The sox play 82 games in a park where a pop-fly has a high chance of going out. Do we need some balance? Sure, but I don't want a team full of fast .260 hitters with 5 HR's either. I'd recommend people put aside the emotion from a tough loss and actually think for a second. -Our 2 biggest needs were OBP and Bullpen. He bought a new bullpen, which for the most part worked out (sans injuries). He then brought in 2 good career OBP guys, which didn't work out so well. -We now have Quentin, Ramirez, Floyd, Danks, Swisher, and Jenks to build around. I think pretty much any team in the MLB would take those building blocks, especially considering they cost us ~$100 a day in salary. -BA has shown he can play, so he will either get traded or get a shot. That leaves us with Thome-Konerko-Dye as DH options, and Swisher as a solid 1B option. So we have decent pieces to trade -You can't "brush aside" injuries to our only 2 All-Star players, our 5th starter, our setup man, our closer, and our first baseman as "minor".
  16. tighten up those belts and throw your paws in the air like you just don't care.
  17. No, they need to not give a s*** about runners on base, don't walk people, and get outs.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 05:36 PM) And why's that? Why you can't blame the 72 win season on ozzie? Do i really need to point that out? Having 1 guy in the bullpen, 2 sometimes 3 decent starters, an entire team in a hitting slump, etc. How is any of those things his fault? Thats like saying "well if the pirates had a good manager they'd be contenders". If the team blows/underperforms theres only so much a manager can do.
  19. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Sep 21, 2008 -> 12:45 PM) When the man does this at a consistent rate... what else could you say that WOULD make it a fact? What would have to happen to legitimately say FACT-WISE that the man has no idea what he's doing??? You have to draw the line somewhere. I certainly don't see how you can agree with it, which a lot of people are. That doesn't bother me, there's just no solid defense in his case. More overreacting to a couple bad games. He has been manager for almost 5 seasons now, he owns: well over a .500 record, 1 bad season which you can't blame on him anyway, 2 90+ win seasons, 1 playoff berth that should have been/be 3, and 1 championship. What constitutes a "good" manager in your eyes?
  20. This board is like watching a schizophrenic person or Jay Mariotti. After a win: people say how they want the playoffs (which we will now make obviously) to go down. After a loss: We need to do something about this horrible team. Ozzie needs to go, KW hasn't done s*** and needs a boot, this team is pathetic and should quit now. always good for a laugh
  21. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Sep 20, 2008 -> 03:14 PM) Twins have bases loaded noooooooooobody out and can't score. Good to see we're not the only ones. But..but...but...they're the PIRANHAS!!!!!!
  22. who has been gone for months? Are they bringing Contreras back?
  23. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 10:04 PM) I think this would be viewed as a hard fought div title race and not so terminal if it werent for the cheery, annoying kookiness going on w/ the northside fans We're letting it infect our brains and our rational thinking. We're up. That means thumbs up, and the next three nights are tougher for them. Don't worry, once they get bounced in the playoffs or WS it will all be worth it. Go cubbbssss goooooo.
