9/18 Sox vs. Bombers - 6:05 pm, WGN

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 09:23 PM) I don't agree with that 100%. I would rather be a Braves' fan and have a run of sustained excellence than be a Marlins' fan, see 2 World Series win and two teams torn apart due to baseball economics. Sustained excellence for a thousand years and 1 ring is still 999 failures. I'll take the ring and a division champ every couple years over being swept in the playoffs every year like the Twins do. I honestly don't know what to think anymore. I hope the twins win was just a fluke, and they'll drop the next three while we win at least 2. Who knows what will happen, but that series in Minny (if we're +/- 1 G) is gonna be the most exciting series since that one back in october of '05. -

hey maybe our bulpen will be lights out tonight. Maybe we only get one or the other: 7 inning shutout by the starter and 10 ER by the BP or 5 ER in 3 by the SP and 0 from the BP -

QUOTE (daa84 @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 08:36 PM) haha its a bad signing...even when he was dealing i said it was bad...you just dont give middle relievers 4 year deals for 20 mil for the very reasons we are seeing right now Why? Are middle relievers known to get hurt after pitching lights out for 4 months? If Linebrink doesn't go down, and pitches even 3/4 of what he was early on, we'd have a big lead in the division now. -
QUOTE (YASNY @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 08:14 AM) Yes, the man that so many were pissed that we kept when we jettisoned Ozuna, has really stepped up. How anyone would want Ozuna over Uribe still baffles me. Even if Uribe wasn't scorching hot hitting, his D is so much better than Ozuna's its crazy.

IMO, if you give Longy the ROY, then you give Q the MVP (when we make playoffs). I still think Q should get it if we make the playoffs. You can't argue that without him we wouldn't be here, and I can't think of another guy on a playoff team with that much of an impact. And if you don't give it to him because of the injury, then you can't give Longoria the ROY because of his (strikingly similar) injury.

QUOTE (rangercal @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 10:54 PM) what's crazy is from that core group of players, only Jenks was in the picture at the end of 06. And it really only cost us Bmac Freddy Garcia and Chris Carter Who needs a Farm system when you have Kenny Williams? Brandon Mcarthy landed us Danks and Griffey I love it
-
QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 08:13 PM) As of now, I wouldn't mind seeing Uribe there next year. I'd love to see fat Juan drop about 20lbs and sign a 2-3 year deal.

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 04:27 PM) my dream scenario would be: 1) Just make the playoffs 2) Get CQ back as a pinch hitter for the post season (i doubt it, but u never know) 3) Our pen gets back on track during the final week of the regular season. 4) Pauly doesnt miss a step since his injury (we can see if this happens as early as tonite). Dont get me wrong I have hope. Esspecially with Minny going up to TB for 4 games. During those games we will be playing KC. Thats a BIG oppurtunity to FINALLY put a stranglehold on the division. That is what decides the division IMO. If we can do what we damn well should, and sweep KC....We should be able to gain at least 2 games while they're in TB.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 11:04 PM) wouldn't the dream scenario be that we win out the rest of the year? well, i guess it should be "realistic" dream scenario. Winning out the rest of the year would be a fantasy scenario
-
Dream scenario: Us: 2/4 NYY 2/3 KC 1/3 MINN 2/3 Cle Them 2/3 Cle 1/4 TB 2/3 Chi 2/3 KC Win division by 1.5, no tigers game, no 1 game playoff.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 10:34 PM) 2005- 2006: 3.55 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, 47/53(87%) on saves 2007-2008: 2.70 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, 68/77(88%) on saves. Freaking crazy, I tell ya. but...but...but....he's had like, 2 bad games in a row!!!!!!! We NEED to trade him now!!!!
-
QUOTE (BearSox @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 09:36 PM) Last time I checked, we're in a pretty heated race for the central. At this point, all games have an impact, and to say these aren't "pressure" games is just ridiculous. So 7 games proves his "unclutchness" was just a fluke huh? I'll believe he has a pair when he goes 7 innings w/
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 02:44 PM) The Cubs have the 2nd best record in baseball and the Mets are in first place..... How'd the Cubs do in the run where Wood was down? How good are the mets doing now with no Wagner? Hence the "Doing/did" part. People say "Hey we can get 2 top prospects!!!!" Well great, we can have a stud starting 5 rotation, then hand the ball to Ryan Buckvich and Mike Mcdoofus for the 7-9. I'm sure that would work out well.
-
2000k's and a sub-500 record. Doesn't make sense at all. He needs to learn how to pitch in pressure games.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 02:12 PM) Ok, so if someone offers you two highly-touted prospect position players or a starting pitcher and position player that can help your team, who cares Bobby's dominant? Gag me, it's still only like 80 innings worth of ball. Closers are expendable. hahaha. Ask the mets, tigers, indians, cubs, etc how they're doing/did with no "closer". Do you not remember how many games the bullpen lost us last year? I sure do, and would never think of trading 1 of the 3 guys we have that actually get outs every once and a while.

Quentin really doing some BP upcoming in KC?

QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 07:34 AM) Which, my guess, is as relevant as a guy who has ACL surgery hopping on the other leg the next day. I'm sure he's doing it to keep his baseball muscles loose on his lead hand, but I'm not sure it has any relevance to his recovery. Its relevant to his recovery becuase he doesn't need to spend a week or two figuring out how to hit a baseball again vs. him just sitting around for a month. -
Another note, Why the hell would anyone want to get rid of one of, if not the best bullpen arms we have? Is our bullpen strong enough where you think losing Jenks is no biggie? The bullpen is the weakest link on our (and many other) team. Why the hell do you get rid of 1/3 of the guys who actually produce? Not to mention Jenks makes like $10/hr to pitch and is under team control for several years.

QUOTE (joeynach @ Sep 14, 2008 -> 11:48 PM) I dont care how u get outs or close games just win the games. Jenks has good stuff overall with a multidue of pitches, thornton does not. Jenks gets out thats good enough for me to be a closer. Yeah he doesnt have the 9K/IP ratio but he gets SAVES. Exactly. I honestly can't remember Thorndog coming in a huge pressure situation and not blowing it. Now if he learned a changeup, and quit refusing to throw his 95mph fastaball, then maybe I could see it. But I'm happy with a Thorton/Liney(healthy)/Jenks
-
what has happened most of the time when thorton is in a high pressure situation? And Jenks was better when throwing 100mph? Really? Cause I remember him throwing the equivalent of 1.5 perfect games throwing 95.

The tix for the sunday night game are still good for the sunday night game even though its game 2 not 3, right?

QUOTE (ChiSox35 @ Sep 12, 2008 -> 10:40 PM) I did actually tape some of the games from ESPN 1000, don't know which ones I managed to get, but I know for sure the majority of Game 4 including the winning call are on one of them. I have no idea how to move them onto a computer or cd though. It's amazing to go back and listen to, and it's cool to hear Rooney/Farmer together again. Awesome thought just randomly popped into my head... Farmer pulling a Vin Scully and flying solo. It would be pristine, historical radio. you gotta convert those to digital and share the wealth PM me if you want to know how, its extremely easy. AUX out from cassete > mic-in computer + audacity.

why oh why does the MLB have to be retarded in not letting youtube like sites host mlb clips. I want to look up some old crede stuff, but nope, can't do it thanks to MLB.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 12, 2008 -> 03:07 PM) Plenty of us have the dvd's which, of course includes audio from the 05 WS. yeah I have those, was looking for a simpler solution than making it myself Plus, the radio call isn't on there right? Just that retard Joe Buck
-
another question....does anyone have audio from the '05 WS radio/tv?
